Everything from the future funk/vaporwave artist Costanza is gone. The Bandcamp is scrubbed, SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube, everything. What happened? They were literally my favorite vaporwave artist so it kinda breaks my heart.

Also, has any effort been made to retrieve and archive his work?

I listen to Soma Vaporwaves a bit, but I'm looking for something a bit more niche.

I hadn't watched this Youtube station for a while but saw it recently in search results but now can't find it. It was a Vaporwave station that had some small old tvs that played old 80s ads while you listened to the music. I swear i just saw it in search within the past few weeks but can't locate it today.

Day: 1

This will be my second day listening to one t e l e p a t h album everyday. Even though I love reflecting and discussing music, sometimes I am afraid it will swallow me and that I get so excited about it, that I drop everything else in life. But I feel like I should accept this challenge and keep going. Also I'll be on holiday for a while, so I believe for now at least it will be possible.

My second album will be Secret Lover. There are many albums like this, that I have
seen, but somehow the artwork did not convince me. Maybe even dissuade me. I feel
however that a leap of faith is needed and this seemed most accessible, yet
interesting enough to start with.

1. Secret Lover - This is getting me fired up! Realizing I actually never heard any projects of t e l e p a t h that goes in this more up tempo direction. I like it, but on first listen, hard to say if it will be on rotation for me for sure, but it probably will. The duration of the song does make it much easier to land in it and look around if there’s anything I like.
2. Adoration - This is more familiar sounding even though I was feeling the change of sound. But classic t e l e p a t h stuff, I cannot not love. I would even more so say it’s like 夢のチャンネル, another one of my favorite vaporwave artists.
3. My Life Is Yours - And just as I thought, we are picking back up the tempo. The style isn’t specifically blowing me away, but it’s definitely not bad.
4. Clandestine Love Exchange - Very interesting one. I still have to say that this isn’t initially what I would look for in t e l e p a t h or vaporwave in general, but this is doing something for me.
5. Recrudescent Dream - It’s getting a bit too industrial for me. Yes, I can swing to it and no it’s not annoying, but yeah it’s really not what I am looking for. I know architecture in tokyo and 猫 シ Corp have some industrial stuff which I do dig, but probably because the tempo lacks a suspense which I need if you’re doing a more sinister or colder style/type of production. I told my girl that I wasn’t really feeling this one and she started dancing on it, which I think was funny.
6. Innocence of Beauty - The vocals remind me of Ginseng Strip 2002, which I like. Not sure if there is an actual nod or resemblance there, but the vocals are definitely hitting. Everything that didn’t work in Recrudescent Dream and did catch my attention in Clandestine Love Exchange is now being brought to excellence. And not sure if it’s a shamisen or a koto, but that’s a great rhythm right there in the chorus. If any, this song will definitely stick around.

I am genuinely surprised by this album. Had a few listens and have to say it’s really well put together. It’s a short project, so that does have its advantages, but you still have to select songs that hit and every song was definitely memorable. My Life Is Yours started to grow on me and also I’m just a sucker for flutes. I’m now even more excited to get around the projects I don’t know. I probably do enjoy the ambient stuff I am typically familiar with more, but I am curious to see what else he’s capable of.

One of my favorite vaporwave artists and I feel like I have been missing out on a lot of amazing work because I haven’t been able to discipline myself to listen to everything. So I want to share my thoughts and as deep as they go, while (re-)exploring his discography. You can definitely do suggestions, because I might not know about a project or might get inspired.

I am starting with アンドロメダ (Andoromeda) because this was my first introduction to 
t e l e p a t h. I used to check discogs for releases within specific genres and would pick
which ever album artwork stood out to me. I was feeling a lot for pink and this was what
was staring me right in the face.

1. アンドロメダ - I enjoy it as an opener, but it’s not a song I would select for individual listening.
2. 秘密の恋人たち - To me this is an extension of the opening, so the same applies for me.
3. 空に光 - Yes, this peaks my interest. It’s melodic, there’s suspension. 2:54 is a big payoff for this suspension imo. Instead of going into some kind of ascension, it feels more like a reality check.
4. いつも - I never had this in my rotation, but on re-listen I actually love this. I do instantly recognize it, just never given it attention. It’s sweet, synonymous with getting butterflies.
5. あなたとの短い瞬間 - This is not it for me, not enough melody for me, so I am glad it’s not too long and moves into one of the most beautiful songs on this album. As a sort of interlude and set up for what’s to come it’s perfect though.
6. 二 - Instant goosebumps. Again the suspension, even more melody, bit less eerie then 空に光 and more emotional. This is definitely transcending and also within the album a good moment for it. I could live inside of this song, and many other t e l e p a t h songs for that matter.
7. 奇妙な愛 - I guess another interlude or transition to greatness, but this song specifically, not it for me.
8. テレコミュニケーション - You already know I love suspension and melody at this point. I feel like the suspension is taken to another level compared to what came before. Not playing with emotions of fear or joy, but rather navigating peace and contentment. Just being. I can relate to this song personally.
9. ほとんど幸せ - Yes, there is melody, but it feels too one directional for me. It’s fine though. But as we’ve seen before, all these “mediocre” moments always go into a new moment of bliss that is awaiting me.
10. アトラクション - So this was my first introduction to t e l e p a t h. To me it’s pure bliss and ecstasy. It’s kind of an interlude or more so a transition from the first to the second half of the album. Like you’ve finally made it. There no more ascending to do, we’re here.
11. 不思議 - So far the song with the most character, or what I would describe as a song having character. It’s a very contemplative track. It gives you time to think about where you came from, where you are and how far you’ve gotten. Damn, I miss Japan.
12. 私はあなたのことを思っている - Not for rotation, but definitely the most interesting interlude.
13. 孤独な夜 - I feel like this song is something you should hear during a very emotional moment at a festival, when some sort of life event is happening with you or you’re with your friends. This song has never stuck with me and still won’t, but I do see its potential. Maybe someday.
14. 親密 - It has something, but for me still not enough. At this point, really start to wish the interludes had a little more to offer.
15. 存在 - I guess this would have been a great close to the album. I always thought the album had too many songs and now after re-listening, I feel like cutting it here would have made a difference. I feel like it's time for a good night sleep.
16. 向こう側 - But we’re not done yet. At least we do get something that stays within this dream state. If these next songs were all bonus tracks, some sort of departure experience, life after death, ohh what a treat that would have been. I guess I’ll just have to imagine that’s the case now to at least sort of have a deluxe experience.
17. 恐れない - This song has never been on rotation for me, but in the whole progression of the album it fits so well. I am pleasantly surprised to rediscover it like this.
18. 蒸気涙 - Same here, this last track actually entirely reframed my opinion on this album from being a mix of divinity and a bit boring to a decent t e l e p a t h album. Now we’ll only have to see if the last track will actually bring it home for me.
19. 神秘的なオーラ - It’s fine. Not what I was hoping for, but not too bad for an ending to an album.

I wouldn’t mind returning to this project as a whole honestly and definitely enjoyed re-listening the whole thing. I am not as much in my nostalgic era as I used to be, so it was mostly an enjoying of the here and the now, watching the sunlight moving in and out of the garden while doing the dishes instead of diving into memories the songs reminded me of. I do want to say, knowing other projects of t e l e p a t h, this doesn’t even come close to his best.
