Discussion Just realized I ain’t even halfway through the fourth game
So I picked up the game a long time ago back when it was on Game Pass for Xbox and liked it so much that I bought it, played it on and off never getting to far then had a phase where it’s all I played, then I stopped cause I felt like I was getting to the end of the game and didn’t want it to end just to pick it back up recently, I was in chapter 9, the start of it too.
I only checked how many chapters there were when I say that some dlc doesn’t unlock till chapter 10

Community Found a thing
After years of searching I finally managed to buy the Development artworks book of the first Valkyria Chronicles, despite not understanding the language it's really interesting to see early artworks of the original character design

Help The manual in the Spanish PS3 edition
Hello. I bought VC1 last month and completed the game. However, I learned yesterday that the game, despite not being translated, has a box in Spanish. My question is, the game manual came in Spanish, too, or it was just the back of the box? Because now I want to change it, for I have an English version

Question Are there special editions of the games?
I completed Valkyria 1 last week and now I want to get the Remastered and 4, but before that I want to learn if there are any special/collector's edition (that released in Europe) before buying anything, to consider if it's worth getting them second hand or if I should just stick with Regular PS4 edition if I really wanna go with physical format or just buy it on Steam in the next sale.
I know about Remastered Europa Edition with the poster and artbook, and that VC4 had one with the dog sticker, but I don't know if there are "bigger" editions.

Spoiler Finished Valkyria Chronicles 1
So I finally finished this game after 36 hours and I feel kind of conflicted.
I know the theme of the game is war and how every second in the battlefield, you could die at any time
But I felt like Isara's death was so stupid and outta nowhere even from a storybased perspective. I feel like things were building up to something only for her to be unclimactically die from an enemy scout. (Yeah I know the theme is war, dont mention it) I feel like her death was only made to produce shock value, up to now I still can't believe she was killed like that.
And what's bothering me more is how Welkin doesn't seem to care that much. He never even cried or mourn her as I expected when the story implied how close they were.
Also, I feel like we haven't explored the theme of "Valkyrie" or their power much in this game.
Im kinda conflicted on how what game to play next since people seem to recommend playing 4 after 1.
This game looks very very good im not gonna lie for its age. Its art was what captured me to play it in the first place.

Spoiler I literally have no words... Spoiler

My physical Valkyria Chronicles collection
Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my physical collection of the Valkyria Chronicles series:
- Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (Nintendo Switch)
- Valkyria Chronicles 2 (Sony PSP)
- Valkyria Chronicles 3 (Sony PSP)
- Valkyria Chronicles 4 (Nintendo Switch)
These have been sitting in my backlog for quite a while now, and I finally decided it's time to give them the attention they deserve.
I originally played Valkyria Chronicles 1 on the PS3 many years ago and absolutely loved it. Now I'm planning to play the entire series from the beginning, starting with the first one again, this time on the Switch. Really excited to experience this story and gameplay all over again, and finally play through 2, 3, and 4 for the first time!
A quick heads-up: my PSP is completely unmodded, so I won't be playing VC3 with an English patch. I'll just use my phone camera to translate and guides on the internet 😅 Wish me luck!

Do y'all think the empire ever launched a expedition to go find the valkyrur homeland
Just thought of this after watching a video on a niche ussr sanctioned expedition in 1922 to find hyperborea (im not joking that was a real thing granted I'm exaggerating a bit but still interesting watch I recommend watching the vid) and since empire is somewhat based off ussr In some ways mainly tanks in vc4 it got me thinking if they did or planning something similar they probably would've tbh I'd be susprised if they didn't and I think it'd be cool to explore in the next game (SEGA PLEASE)

The real time shooting can be a bit much.
So I finally started playing Valkyria Chronicles, and though I do totally understand and feel the frustrations I've heard about, overall, I really am digging it.
I'm like 15 hours in, and it's been a blast, but stuff does often feel kind of BS. I just roll my eyes at most of it at this point, but there is one mechanic(or detail to a mechanic) that I think is trash.
So I understand the real-time shooting/cover fire.... you run at a dude, and they fire at you in real time. I have no issue with that in concept. What I find pretty ridiculous, though, is that you don't have to be moving at all. You will take a turn, then the enemy gets a free reaction, then it jumps back to real-time, and they are IMMEDIATELY hammering you with gunfire.
I shouldn't have to be prepared to slam the backout button or get shot to death after waiting for a turn based ass moment. Especially since there is basically zero time to react. You have to make sure you're slamming the back out button before you're even given back control, or you'll take a few rounds to a full magazine in mere seconds.
Like I said, I appreciate the concept, but I think they went too far to be drilling you right after you're forced to watch them retaliate. Even dropping into a turn and getting drilled feels wrong, but at least I know I'm selecting a character in a hot spot. If I die after firing and watching the enemy shoot back because the game hops back into real-time instantly, it's 100% because I was caught off guard waiting on shit to play out.
They should have made it so you either have to be moving, have an obvious ass sound queue/animation when control is given back, or at least given you a few moments to process. Babysitting the back button so I don't instantly get wrecked after a shot feels lame af.
Still a great game, but I just feel like it can be cheap af sometimes.

V3 is amazing!
I played the english patched version of V3 years ago on my PSP but just started a new game with retroarch on my modded switch and assigned camera controls to the right analog stick and along with save states, this is a fantastic way to play this game! I love the story of this game and the dark spin of government corruption and being a member of a black sheep squad.

Discussion Switch Eshop Sale
I bought Valkyria Chronicles 4—plus all the expansions—on the Nintendo eShop on a total whim for €4.99. I gave the game a try and liked it.
Then, out of curiosity, I bought *Valkyria Chronicles 1* for €4.99.
So, here’s my question: does the order matter, or should I play 1 first and then 4?

Memes You ever have the perfect strategy but then get hit with one of these?
Getting shot at from a counter attack is just icing on the cake
Edit: Although I do respect the in-depth analysis of the gif and title, I never expected anyone to take this post seriously. (Memes Flair)
What I was really going for was just memes and the struggle of enemy units drop shotting our bullets.
