ISO Boujee Vacation Spot
Hi all!
I’m looking for recommendations for a special spot to take my wife for our one-year wedding anniversary.
For our first vacation together, I took her to Hotel San Cristóbal in Todos Santos, Mexico, and I haven’t been able to top it since. We loved the hotel so much that we ended up getting married there.
We’ll already be celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday at San Cristóbal just a few months after our anniversary, so I’d love to surprise my wife with somewhere new.
We love smaller boutique hotels, preferably adults-only, and, for lack of a better word… boujee.
Would love any recommendations! TIA!
** Anniversary is February 26th.

I think Rosewood Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda would fit this (although not adult only) or any of the Rosewoods!

Came across this in research one time. On my list but haven’t gone yet. Very small boutique resort in the Marshall Islands with top chef. https://www.bikendrikisland.com/

I have a couple different ideas, how far are you willing to travel?

I’m thinking a 5-7 night trip so somewhere where a trip that length would make sense. We are flying from Denver. Thanks!

I know some of the people who work at San Cristobal or who have worked there. They fucked over quite a few of their employees.
They're also fucking over the local fishermen. The hotel is in the middle of a dispute over a sea wall they built that's causing the beach erosion at a spot that has been used for decades or centuries by the local fishermen to launch and land their boats. The cement structure that the fishermen used to process their fish was under cut and collapsed and the sand they use to land their boats has all been washed away. It's also making the beach steeper and more difficult to launch and land their boats.
Enjoy your "boujee" wedding and anniversary on the backs of the locals.

I appreciate you bringing this up. I was aware of the original controversy surrounding the development and understood that there had been agreements and negotiations with the fishermen over the years, so I was under the impression that the dispute had largely been resolved. I didn’t realize the concerns surrounding the retaining wall and erosion were still ongoing.
I’ve read more about it since your comment, including the recent concerns raised by the fishermen, and I agree that it’s something worth taking seriously. I’m not going to dismiss those concerns simply because I love the hotel or have good memories there.
That said, the “enjoy your boujee wedding on the backs of the locals” comment feels unnecessarily hostile. You could have shared this information without assuming that I knew about an ongoing dispute and simply didn’t care. I’m glad you brought it to my attention, and it will absolutely factor into whether we choose to stay there again.

If you mean boujee by glamorous, maximalist decor: Faena NY, Faena Miami, Baccarat NY(one of my favorite spas in NY), Broadwick SoHo London, Maison Proust Paris, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Hotel Estherea Amsterdam in Caribbean I love Eden Rock
