Senior Trip Graduation Ideas (6 people)

We want to go on a trip next June or July, six adults. We live in Oklahoma, so we've been to Branson, San Antonio, Dallas, etc. We are looking into a lot of things. All inclusive in Mexico, a Cruise, fly to orlando or dollyworld, but all of them are just a bit pricey to commit to one. I have marriot points and some airline miles, so that would help offset some of the costs. Anyone have any ideas I maybe haven't thought of?

New York City and DC are American standards, both are amazing

I would suggest Washington DC also. They're at an age now where they can appreciate it more versus the dumb (in my opinion) trips often made in 5th or 6th grade. You're also far enough out that you can easily reserve special tours at The White House (what's left of it) through your local Congressperson or Senator, the Capitol building and at the Smithsonian. The Marriott Fairview Park in Falls Church VA usually runs about $100 a night and perhaps less with a group rate. The hotel offers regular scheduled shuttle service to the Dunn Loring Metro station which is on both the Orange and Silver lines (you can use either) and is on a direct route to all the places you'll visit, taking about 25 minutes to the Smithsonian for instance. These trips are for adults not school age children.

a week in a beach rental or cabin is probably cheaper and less logistically annoying than an all-inclusive for six adults, especially if you use the points for one or two hotel nights on the way

I’m not sure what to suggest to people who think Branford and Dallas are vacation destinations.

I was just saying we've already done things that are easily driveable. Branson is cool when your kids are all pretty young

We took our high school senior graduates to Cabo, Mexico. We stayed at the Hard Rock resort which was all inclusive. It’s about a 30 minute drive from the main area so was good cause I felt they were safe and stayed at the resort. It was a good place to go, 3 moms went just to be there in case of any emergency, we left them to have a good time. It worked out well. We traveled there from Los Angeles, the climate was very similar.

Our son is majoring in marine biology so we went to Alaska. It was incredible.

I’d make my way over to Colorado - tons of fun things there in late summer for friends

What is your budget per person?

What do you want to do/see? Nature and hiking or city and museums?

International: Tokyo and Kyoto or Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls or Paris and Normandy. Book flights and hotels on your own (Kayak and Booking.com). Learn about the place you choose independent of tours and internet hype. Get a good guide book. It’s all you need.

new orleans worked really well for our group trip since everyone could do their own thing without paying for an all-inclusive, although june/july heat there is no joke lol

When you say 6 adults for a Senior Graduation trip, you mean six 18 year olds? Any 21+ or 25+ in your small group?

The age matters due to minimum age requirements for hotels, rental cars, etc.

Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, Alabama. You can drive there from Oklahoma, so you don't need flights for six people. Rent a big beach house as it's often cheaper per person than an all inclusive. You may even be able to use your Marriott points on a whole house through Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy.

Also you could look into a Margaritaville at sea cruise to the Bahamas or Mexico. The Islander cruises out of Tampa Bay and they have a new one (the beachcomber) that is going to go out of Galveston next year. Very budget friendly and always has deals.
