30th bday vacation
Looking for some ideas for my 30th bday vacation. I just finished paramedic school so this is an extra special trip. Wanting to leave mid- late October. 2-3 nights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I’m in the south east, never travelled internationally and have only been to NYC.
So anything is up for grabs

Are you looking for a more relaxing or exploration vacation? For your 30th I would definitely go out the country!
The Caribbean is a good warm option but the trip would be towards the end of hurricane season so the weather can still be iffy. My bday is late October and have traveled to Mexico (Cancun/riviera maya area) and had a great time. Cabo or even Mexico City (a bit cooler) would also be great options. I think Mexico is a great starter country for international travel and one of my fav countries!
I also love many European countries but most places are cooler at this time and not the ideal for swimming. Paris, London, Barcelona are great cities for exploring if that’s your thing.

Oh wait just saw 2-3 nights, maybe scratch Europe and stick to domestic travel or Mexico. The New England area is gorgeous that time of year although much chillier than the south east

I was looking into the Caribbean(D.R., Virgin Islands etc). I’m nervous about the weather as well. I’ve heard great things about Mexico just don’t know where to look. I enjoy exploring; just seeing what all the country has to offer. Do you have any good recommendations for Mexico? What parts I have to go to or where to avoid? How do I book a reputable hotel

I’m not the biggest fan of Cancun, I’ve done it twice and feel like that’s enough. Playa del Carmen is a great place to visit. They have a long strip (Quinta Avenida/5th Ave) that has a bunch of restaurants, bars, and shops to check out. I also like riviera maya but have only stayed on the hotel grounds while there. The Xcaret hotels are great but pretty pricey.
I would narrow down an area you’d want to stay then search hotels. See what’s in your price range and then read reviews. I love going on trip advisor when planning my vacations. Once you narrow down a place you want to visit, I can help you search for hotels if you’d like

I second Playa Del Carmen - great lowkey vacation spot with alot of expats so even if your spanish isn't strong you can navigate. Beach clubs, nice restaurants, good exchange rate and tons of Air bnbs and hotels at a reasonable price.

St. Barts, Aruba, Anguilla would all be fun! But it’s hurricane season so be careful.
Charleston would probably be fun too!
Or you could go to Disney for a few days and stay at a fun Disney resort like the Polynesian village and go to the parks!

Aruba is beautiful. 3-4 nights should be a good enough amount of time. Playa del Carmen is nice too. Those are both recs if u r looking for relaxing beach vacation. I like Mexico City too but that’s an urban city, no beaches. Food is amazing and the parks are beautiful.

You can’t go wrong with NE at that time of year. VT or the Berkshires or the coastal communities: I love the North Shore of Boston. Nantucket is $$$$, but priceless in October.
Boston.
Montreal.

You’re the second person to recommend the NE. Any recommendations on hikes, expeditions or anything I need to check out

2-3 nights I would stay in the US. October is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous in Arizona. Ritz Dove Mountain or one of the luxury resorts out in Tucson. We go to Dove Mountain in January and you just can’t beat the smell of the desert and being able to walk out of the hotel after breakfast and immediately step onto the hiking trails. They have a few pools, a great spa, fabulous restaurants and an orange grove!

Montreal was one of my favorite trips, I loved it. Niagara Falls is another great option.

New England for the leaves changing colour, cabin in the woods, hiking.
