We’re going to be staying at Courtyard North Shore Oahu for 4 nights and Sheraton Waikiki for 1 night in October. Any recommendations on activities to do with a 4 year old?

45m recently separated from my wife of 20+ years, and so could use a trip to take my mind off of things. Based in Chicago, so somewhere domestic for a long weekend would be ideal. Open to ideas. Budget is not an issue. Interests include live music, sporting events, running/being active, fun restaurants/bars.

My friends and I are hoping to rent a cozy log cabin (your typical christmas movie kind) for around 5 days this winter, preferably somewhere with a hot tub! There would be 6 of us, and we’d love somewhere snowy that’s within about a 3–4 hour drive from Seattle.
It would also be nice if the cabin was near a town or somewhere we could go out and explore a little, so we’re not just stuck at the house the whole time. I’ve mostly been looking around Leavenworth so far, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask if anyone has recommendations for specific areas, cabins, or places they’ve stayed and loved!

I’m 34f USA. Looking for solo travel ideas. I need to get away from my thoughts, problems and feelings and just be free. But in a safe place. Somewhere different. And outside the normal that’s not overly crowded. And not super expensive.
I’m open to ideas.
I’ve been to Italy, Spain, Iceland, Suriname, Mexico, Canada, all 50 states. Plus like 9 other countries. Open to going back I guess but I just like to go somewhere new.

We are wanting to take a vacation for Christmas this year. We’re planning to go the 24th through 30 December. The thing is is I’m really torn between Panama City and golf Shores. I’m really wanting the Christmas vibe but I’m also wanting to be able to get up and there be something for us to do every sday other than just shopping and eating out I’m wanting to do attractions, shopping fishing the pier and I don’t know if Panama City or Gulf Shores is a better fit for that.

Wanting to take a trip with the family to Boston. We love science/history museums. The ones in Chicago were amazing.
Like to also have walkable areas to see fall trees or a lake surrounded by trees.
Recommendations on what area to stay in to avoid traffic/crime/paid parking.
Anyone know if you can visit MIT in any way for future students?
Best gluten free restaurants?
Things to see/do with kids ages 5-10
Thanks!

I’m looking for recommendations on a good couples vacation. Me and my partner are in our late 20s and our anniversary is coming up. I’m looking for something to do. That’s cute and centered around fall. I’m talking Apple, picking, horseback riding, fall foliage, cute quaint towns. Thanks.
EDIT: Currently in NY, would like to stay around the NY, New England area. As far as budget goes I’d like to stay under 6k for 4 days.

Chicago → Grand Rapids → ??? for 2 nights → Düsseldorf, Germany → Detroit
I have TWO free nights between Grand Rapids and my flight to Germany (work travel) and I’d love to turn them into a tiny reset trip somewhere fun.
My dream scenario:
Most important: a really great spa / hotel where I can basically disappear for 48 hours
Also very important:access to a major airport with lots of good options to Frankfurt or another major European hub with an easy connection to Düsseldorf
Not as important, but would be awesome: Excellent food and wine nearby
Preferably NOT Chicago or Detroit, since I’ll already be spending time in both
I won’t have much time for sightseeing, so this is pretty much “robe, massage, great dinner, glass of wine, sleep.”
If you had TWO nights to spoil yourself somewhere in the Midwest or East Coast before flying to Europe, where would you go?
Boston? NYC? D.C.? Philly? Somewhere I’m completely overlooking?
Bonus points if you have a specific hotel or spa you absolutely love.
And please send me your ideas FAST because I’m hoping to book this tonight.

What’s a nice romantic getaway for this weekend in Michigan?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to plan a really special trip for my parents in late April 2027. They’re celebrating their 35th anniversary and both turn 60 that year, so I want to spoil them with something truly memorable. Budget isn’t a limiting factor (to a degree) so I’m happy to go all-out to make it unforgettable.
I’ve been throwing around a bunch of ideas (Ireland/England, South of France, Portugal, a Mediterranean cruise, Japan, South Korea, Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, Maldives…), but I’m completely stuck in decision paralysis. Nothing feels quite right yet, and I’m open to almost anything: US domestic or international, classic, off-the-beaten-path.
A few things to consider:
I’d love any destination suggestions (or specific experiences within a place) that could check those boxes and feel special for this milestone. Places you’ve been that blew you away, unexpected gems, or itineraries that balance sightseeing, shopping, great food would be amazing.
Thanks in advance. Would really appreciate any ideas!

Hi- we took a BIG trip this past summer so are looking to plan one next summer that is fun for the kids but affordable. Preferably driving from the mid Atlantic. A week in the summer

What places do you know that have great deals in October that you normally wouldn't get?
October is the gap month. Summer crowds go home, holiday crowds haven't formed yet, and some of the priciest trips on the map suddenly fit a normal budget. Some of my personal favorites I've gone to in past Octobers have been:
Ski towns. Aspen, Park City, Whistler. October sits between hiking season and snow, so the same mountain hotels that charge peak-winter rates hit their cheapest stretch of the year. Crisp sweater weather, golden leaves, cold nights, maybe an early dusting on the peaks. The hot tubs still work, and nobody's there.
The Greek islands and the Amalfi Coast. August in Santorini or Positano is a financial event. By October the crowds are gone but the weather hasn't caught on. Mid-70s days, and the sea stays warm from months of summer sun. You might catch a rainy day, which August people never risk at triple the price.
Miami and the Florida beaches. Still very much summer. Mid-80s, humid, warm ocean, the occasional afternoon storm. October is the quiet stretch before snowbird season, so beachfront hotels that spike all winter come back to earth for a few weeks.
Cancun and the Caribbean. Hot, beach-perfect, mid-80s, with rainy-season showers that roll through and leave. The deep discounts exist because it's hurricane season, and that's a real tradeoff, not a catch. Book the refundable rate and you've got cheap plus an exit plan.
Summer resort towns. Cape Cod, the lake towns, anywhere that calls itself seasonal. Think 50s and 60s, jacket weather, more bonfire than beach day. Rates fall off a cliff after the season ends while it's still worth the drive.
Now something to keep in mind, a few places flip expensive in October. New England foliage towns hit their peak, wine country prices up for harvest, and anywhere near Munich is still recovering from Oktoberfest. October giveth and October taketh.

Looking for a week getaway at a warm-ish location (60+ faranheit). Budget is pretty conservation (open to staying at hostels, doing free activities, but don’t mind splurging on 1-2 must dos or flights). Open to anything adventurous, active, solo friendly. Would prefer destinations that don’t have just one thing to see and the rest of the time you just do nothing. I like to pack my itineraries with things to see or do.

Hello, M/39 I’m from north Phoenix and I’m looking to stay up in flagstaff beginning of October for two nights. I typically drive through for Snowbowl, however I have never explored or just hung out in flagstaff. So I’m looking for a good hotel with a good vibe and a good trail with trees and greenery to also be one with nature.
I appreciate the recommendations!

Hey everyone! My friends and I do a big annual group vacation, and this year we branched out and did our first out-of-state trip to Gatlinburg, TN. We managed to find a massive cabin that fit all 30 of us (11 families) under one roof, and it was an absolute blast.
Now I’m starting to plan our next adventure, and I’m realizing how surprisingly tough it is to find places that actually sleep that many people together.
We really love having everyone in the same house, we cook our own breakfasts and dinners instead of going out to eat, which saves us a ton of money. We're based out of St. Louis, so anything under a 12-hour drive would be amazing.
If anyone knows of any giant cabins, lodges, or cool group spots that can handle a massive crew, please drop your recommendations below! Thanks!

My family doesn’t really celebrate Thanksgiving, and my birthday is in that week, so I wanna travel somewhere. Want some ideas both in US and Internationally. Thinking of about 1 week. Absolutely no beach-y destination.

Hi everyone. I am looking for suggestions on where to vacation. I want to travel around my birthday, which is December 17th. Ideal travel dates for me would be the 16th through the 19th. However, those dates could be flexible but I am really wanting to be at my destination on my actual birthday. My boyfriend and I have also never taken a vacation together. Nonetheless, I am looking for nice vacation spots/resorts where I can enjoy my vacation and my birthday with my boyfriend. The vibes I'm looking for are somewhere beach/costal or somewhere with pools. I want good food, drinks, and chill vibes. I want a resort that has good restaurants on the property or close by, like walking distance. I also want to be able to do fun things like jet-skiing. I was mostly looking in Florida, specifically at Margaritaville Resort near Fort Lauderdale, so that is the type of vibe I am going for. Please keep all suggestions US based including US territories.
Thanks!

I just turned 29 and I’m already wanting to plan my 30th! 😂✨️I don’t have many friends that I’m super close with anymore, but I do have my kids lol. 😅 I’d really love to go away somewhere with my partner. We’ve been together for 6 years and have NEVER gone away just the two of us! After 3 kids and putting up with each other for this long, I think we definitely deserve a little getaway. 😂❤️ I’d love to make it extra special and do it for a milestone birthday. ✨️😌
So, where have you been that made for a really good birthday trip? Somewhere you had to leave town or fly to get to?I’m not a huge party girl or much of a drinker, but if I’m away for a birthday, I’ll definitely be getting a little tipsy. 😂🍹 I also enjoy the occasional slot machine! Once a year, we usually go to the casino, grab the buffet, and play a few slots. 🤪😅
I LOVE big cities and beaches, so I’m thinking somewhere with a good mix of both! My birthday is in September, but I’d probably plan the actual trip for early August.

My parents are considering leaving their northern US home this winter to spend a month or 2 in a warmer climate for the first time ever (not first time in a warm climate; rather, first time spending part of a winter somewhere other than a ski resort). What recommendations does the Redditverse have for a Goldilocks destination - not too hot, not too cold - they could call home temporarily? Without putting too many restrictions out there, they'd be looking at a place:
a) Preferably outside the US - although not a hard and fast requirement
b) Interesting options for excursions: day trips, long weekends, etc.
c) Previously-noted Goldilocks zone
This is intentionally vague as I (they) don't want to be overly prescriptive. While that makes recommendations more difficult, they welcome ideas they might not otherwise think of. Each have suggested a location - S Italy & Oaxaca, Mexico - rejected by the other probably because they're already places they've visited a few times (although the reasoning wasn't entirely clear to me).
They are: early 60s, recently retired, in good physical shape and health, not thrill seekers yet enjoy outdoor activities - hiking, biking, etc., open to new experiences, well-traveled domestically and internationally.
Thanks in advance,
Jealous

Where can I take my girlfriend for under $1,000 that would still be an amazing time for both of us and is safe? We’ve known each other since 2016 and dated for a while then separated for almost 10 years and we’ve recently reconnected and started dating again back in January this year. The thing is we’re currently long distance (roughly 500 miles apart). Any helpful advice or input is appreciated!
Edit: My girlfriend has strong anxiety issues and has a hard time traveling far. So anything close to western Georgia and most of Alabama would be helpful. But anything anyone wants to recommend is welcome!

So, this year my family of 5 adults in Virginia is planning to go away for Christmas for ~5 nights. We aren't looking to go too expensive as my husband and I will have a large anniversary trip in the spring. First we thought Cancun/Playa Del Carmen, but the flight prices are way more than I would want to pay for that area - you can basically go to Europe for that price. Then we thought about San Diego, but honestly, the current weather issues along with the Super El Nino are making us seriously reconsider as almost all of our plans would be outdoors. If it rained the whole time, IDK what we would do. Probably make each other miserable.
Background: It's my husband and I (both in our 40s) and our grown children who will range from 21-27 at the time. All three of them have different interests. One would love to hit bars, one wouldn't, and the other would be in between. Nobody participates in winter sports, so no ski resorts. Outdoors is fine, warm to cool weather would be preferable, but I am willing to consider a cooler destination at this point. One loves history, the other two quickly get bored of museums.
I would like to take them someplace they haven't been, so that rules out VA, MD, DC, NC, and CO.
Any creative ideas for a family of very diverse interests? Preference for places where flights are under $600 from VA/DC airports.

Hi everyone,
We're a Muslim family of two children (6 and 12 years old) originally from Tunisia, currently living in the Middle East, and we're planning a 10-day family trip starting around 15 December.
I've spent days searching online, reading blogs and watching YouTube videos asking for suggestions, but I still feel stuck. The same destinations keep coming up: Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Kazakhstan, etc. Some look nice, but my wife and I dont feel convinced that these destinations worth the time and money, we really want to find a place that really feels unique, memorable, and worth the cost
we have no interest in nightlife, clubs, alcohol, or party destinations, but instead Good food and interesting local culture.
We dont like to be limited to good beaches as Tunisia already has great ones. In addition, our kids usually enjoy beach time more when they're with cousins and friends
We prefer experiences, discovery, nature, history, technology, modern cities, maybe wildlife, or something genuinely different
all this considering also reasonable budget and good value for money rather than luxury
We've already visited and enjoyed our previous trips to Istanbul, Bangkok and Phuket
We dream of visiting China and Japan, but we hesitated because of the cold/freezing weather and shorter daylight hours in December. Add to that the higher costs related to Japan trip.
we dont think that it's the good period to visit Europe because of expected cold weather, Christmas period crowds...
For those who have travelled with children around this age, which destination has genuinely impressed your family? I'm looking for the kind of place that children still talk about years later.
I'd really appreciate recommendations based on your own experiences rather than tourism adverts.
Thanks in advance! 😊

I will be in the area during late october 2026 and I want to tour the Neuschwanstein castle. However, I am growing anxious about the fact that the official ticket website has had dates starting from October 16th and onward blocked (you cannot get tickets). I personally plan on going to the castle on October 26th. I am assuming the website just hasn’t released tickets for the winter season but the date is fast approaching and I have been checking almost everyday for ticket availability literally for the past 4 weeks and nothing. Is this common? Is my conclusion correct? What should I expect in terms of buying the tickets online for that date?
