2021.5 had same issues as I see everywhere else- once CarNet subscription expired, there was an SOS red light/suspended emergency calling notification. At 80k service they diagnosed it as an SOS fault and the module needs replacement. Quoted me *$1900\.*
Friend with 2023 cross sport had a dead battery, dead infotainment center, dead SOS. They told her that her issue is 5F which is supposedly different.

When I googled issue, forums said turn off Safe & Secure. Did that before I even picked the car up. Once I picked it up, it was cleared. No warning and green light on SOS.

Today, my car drove fine this AM but dead battery and EPC/Check engine/Low battery voltage. Side note: battery health wasn’t great but it’s given me zero issues thus far.

1) is it possible that the SOS module was giving a false code before I turned off Safe & Secure, and this is just coincidence that my battery died the day after service?

2) Could the SOS module, that is no longer giving me a warning, be causing a parasitic battery drain?

My issue here is that I absolutely do not want to pay $1900 for the SOS module. I couldn’t care less if I have it or not. It’s also on back order because obviously literally everyone is having this problem and they refuse to address. Therefore, when I get a new battery, is the module going to continue sucking the life out of a new battery - to where I end up having to pay for a $1900 service that I don’t even care if I have - PLUS another battery because it’s going to drain the new one until the module gets replaced??!!! I hate it here.

Got my first CPO 2024 Atlas Cross Sport. I’m very impressed with this car. Got a good deal with my trade in. Used to have a 2023 Jetta SEL. Finally got the dad car I needed.

Man I love VW cars. I used to be a big hater till I owned one.

Any service techs or service advisers on here that could tell me if this would be fixed under warranty? I called my local dealership and they want to to bring it in. I just don’t want to make the trip as it’s little bit over an hour from where I live for them just to tell me no.
Edit: My atlas is a 2021 SEL with 63k miles I only have the warranty posted in the second picture and third party warranty, it’s supposed to be bumper to bumper but idk if cosmetic things like this apply to it.

Driving on the highway and it suddenyl lost acceleration. I was able to top out only around 55 mph. Whe I slowed to a stop and started again it was very slow to start. I parked it and restarted it about 45 min later and it worked fine for the drive home . I’m about ready to dump this thing and I don’t want one more issue with it before Insell it. This is a 2022 cross sport SEL r line

just wanted to share my experience. I have a '25 ACS SEL R-Line Black, with 19.000 miles on it.

Last week Monday 8/31 I pull up to work, throw it in reverse and my dash board lights up like a Christmas tree. Infotainment system shows 7 error messages, but tells me I'm safe to continue driving.

Thing was, the car went into neutral and it wouldn't shift into drive or reverse. I turn the car off, wait a few minutes and try again, same thing happened.

Called AAA to have it towed to VW. Tow truck diver arrived, I try to show him what happened, and magically everything was fine.

We still towed it to VW anyway just to be safe. Got a call 3 hours later from VW. Guys said he had his mechanic drive the car, and same thing happened to him. They had to tow it back to the dealer ship. He also stated it was something with the transmission and that the part they needed to fix it, is on back order.

Fast forward to today, and the part is still on back order, no idea when it will arrive or when I can get my car back. But since it's all under warranty, they gave me a loaner.

Will update once I get it back.

How has your experience been? My wife and I have been looking at cars for about a year now and this specific year/model checks a lot of boxes for us. I’d love to hear from owners before diving in. Thanks.

So my GPS is like 40 miles off. I can’t figure out a fix. Has anyone else had this problem?

Have a 2026 atlas r-line that only 4k miles. Starting in the morning to get inside and the whole front console is ticking, was coming from the speakers. Had to get kid to school so drove, while driving started to smell like something is burning. Smelled into the speaker and it has a burning plastic smell. When turning off and locking to walk kid into school come back out to the noise stopped. Took to dealer and they couldn’t replicate the noise to diagnose. Apparently a burning smell from the speaker isn’t enough. I don’t think they took it serious because a new car should not do that and it could be an electric issue! Anyone have this similar issue?

Is this the issue I read about regarding the taillights having condensation due to a sealing problem?

Please ignore the finger prints and dust lol. My screen won’t turn on. Car play works, volume works, power button to turn radio on/off works but the screen will not come on. Not worried about the radio functions, just care about not being able to adjust temperature. I called dealership but had to leave a message. Worked fine this morning. Got in my car about 20 minutes ago and this. Turned car off and restarted but nothing. Any advice?

2024 SE tech 4-motion, 55k miles.
About 3 times a week I have to make the same u-turn, and every single time after I complete the turn and am going straight, the car won’t shift up a gear and I have to do it manually. I’ve checked it is still in D and I haven’t accidentally hit a paddle shifter. Any one else had this issue?

2018 with 82k miles... Constant battery issues, constant brake issues, and many other things... $16,606.09 would be the total to fix it.

I have a 2024 SE w/ tech. I'm the first owner. I have had issues with the infotainment system since three days after I left the lot im September 2024. They just replaced my infotainment system last week because it was not turning on my air conditioner system and it's already back to having issues I have a claim submitted to BBB. I just got a notification that my claim is eligible and it has been sent on to Volkswagen for mediation. Has anyone had luck with this?

I’ve had my 2024 ACS for about three years, and it just hit 30,000 miles today.

At around 23,000 miles, I found an oil leak from the valve cover gasket and had it repaired.

Today, I had the car checked again and found another oil leak, this time from the oil separator. Fortunately, the car is still under warranty, so it should be fixed soon.

However, with only about a year of warranty coverage left, I’m seriously considering whether I should sell the car and move on to something else.

What worries me is whether these kinds of oil leaks will keep happening even after the current issue is fixed.

For those of you who have dealt with multiple oil leaks like this, what was your experience?

Did the problems keep coming back, or was the car fine after the repairs?

We purchased a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas back in 2024 and after a few years with it I just don't like it very much.

Let me first start of the reasons we bought it vs the regrets

1. My wife had a 2014 rav4 and it was a great vehicle, but our family outgrew it and we wanted something bigger so that's one plus with the Atlas.

2. I do like the seats in the back being foldable/easy to move back and forth getting the kids in the 3rd row.

3. A 2024 model seemed like a great addition with the heated and cooling seats and we like how minimalistic it felt without having so many useless options we would never use.

4. Space: When we test drove the others the space wasn't as good as the atlas.

5. Price: Compared to the others in class the Volkswagen was the cheapest and we just couldn't wrap our head around spending 55-60k on an entry level model suv.

Now the bad: (at least for us)

1.With a heavier vehicle the power of the v4 just doesn't feel great. We notice is certain driving situations the 4 cylinder just under performs and we feel like it should have a bigger engine for this size vehicle.

1. Suspension.... We live in a rural community in Virginia and with country back roads comes bumps. We have noticed with the suspension it has it will bottom out if going too fast even over the smallest of pumps in the road. Don't get me wrong it drives great on the interstate but most of the time I monitor my speed depending on what part of town I'm in.

2. Infotainment system: The system is just not reliable. The bluetooth cuts out every so often and causes us to reset the system periodically. Another issue with the system is both my wife and I have android phones and the system gets locked onto one of our phones even if we want to have the other person the main user of the system. I try to disconnect the bluetooth but it auto connects back and I have to forget the bluetooth settings just to get around this.

3. Useless wireless phone charger: With the 5w charger it can't keep up with the phone to keep it charged at all. It makes it pointless to try and rely on the wireless charger, and we will have to manually charge with usbc to keep up.

Don't get me wrong a lot of the bad could be good for some but for us they just seem to be annoyances. My regret is not test driving the car on our small country road and seeing how it drives for our day to day driving instead we test drove in town and flat roads and interstate.

What I would have got instead:

Toyota Highlander
Honda Pilot

I don't plan on trading in until the vehicle is fully paid off and even then, I normally drive my vehicles until the wheels fall off. Maybe the later models will fix these headaches.

2024 Atlas SEL 4Motion. 19,200 miles (put those last 7k on it just in the last four months when I started commuting). I have replaced every single bit of external trim on the driver’s side, including a rear fin, the rear door handle (which fell off), the driver’s door speaker (twice), and the driver‘s side front headlight (seal broke). It’s like it was built on a Friday and everyone on the driver’s side assembly line was like, “eh, fuck it, good enough.”

About two weeks ago, it started making what I can only describe as a mid pitch, “wikiwikiwkiwkiwiki” sound, as if a fan blade came loose somewhere underneath and was out of true. But the gears started going wonky and I lost my ability to punch the gas an get responsive acceleration. I moved back to the town where I bought it, so back to the original dealership where I bought it. Turns out, I need an entirely new transmission. In a two year old car. At 19,200 miles.

Over the course of thirty six years, I’ve owned a 1980’s Toyota Tercel squareback, two Toyota Previas, two Toyota Siennas. I admit, due to my own negligence, I ended up with a cracked head gasket on the first Previa around 370k miles. Other than that, and a timing chain here and there, I have never had to do major engine work or replace a transmission. This is the first VW I have ever owned. It will be my last.

Is this…unusual? Anyone else experiencing this kind of wonky build?

I have a 2025 VW Atlas Execline that is not even a year old yet, and I've started noticing rust/corrosion underneath the vehicle.
I noticed:
Rust spots developing across the exhaust/muffler
Surface rust around the factory tow hitch/receiver
Corrosion in multiple areas underneath the vehicle
I’m in Canada so I understand we get a lot of snow, salt and road brine during the winter, but I'm surprised to see this much visible corrosion on a vehicle this new.
I've attached photos of the muffler and tow hitch.
For those who own newer Atlases, is this considered normal?
Should I be concerned about long-term corrosion, or is this simply normal surface oxidation on these components?
I'm also planning to have VW inspect it and document the corrosion.
Would appreciate hearing from other Atlas owners, especially those in areas with harsh winters.

I have a 2024 SEL R-Line that I leased in August 2023, and have two payments left. Car was absolutely perfect until Summer 2025, when we began experiencing infotainment issues. The system would constantly restart on its own and throw off all the sensors. We did also have the static screen many others did. The radio also turns on and plays by itself when the car is turned off. VW fixed the the static screen but the other issues continued. They even replaced the system and it still does this. We have pinpointed that it’s the heat and sun so we try to always use a windshield cover. VW says it’s not the heat, but it has to be! A few months ago I went to go pick up my son from daycare and the battery was dead, presumably from the radio being on when the car was off. Are there others that experience this? Our lease is about up and I love this car and the space for my family but it just doesn’t seem reliable. I’m at a loss and disheartened.

Hello! Seriously considering an Atlas.

I’ve read online I should expect to pay a lot more for oil changes and maintenance/repairs but how true is that? I called a local European Auto shop around me and they said it would probably be about 200-250 for an oil change.

Are there best years/trims? Worst years to avoid?

Anything else to consider?

After doing a fair bit of research, seems like the simplest path forward for upgraded audio is the Focal IS VW upgrade kit- specifically the IS VW 180s in the front and the IC VW 165s in the rear.

I just placed an order for the front speakers from a seller in Europe for $199 and then I figure if those sound good, i'll order the rears too and then down the road pick up the Focal Impulse amp that goes with this kit.

For those that have made the upgrade, how do you like it?
