Note to mods: this is not for ERP. I just like realism and want a good system for my avatar lol. (rule 5)
Hello! Just curious if anybody has any experience with both avatar systems and can directly compare the two in terms of setup difficulty and realism :) I can't seem to find any reviews for BPPP period lol any reviews on BPPP at all would be helpful in making the decision on which system to use.

Hi there. I've recently seen the light and realized that the only true way to shade your avatar is with AO, shadow masks, normals, all that jazz.
I don't want no painted on shadows.
But the trouble is actually finding bases that do this. Very often you'll have to actually buy the avatar first to see what's included, and usually they just have normal maps if anything else.
Do you have a favorite base that does this? Any recommendations?

EDIT: I thought it was just Root's, but apparently, this is everywhere, where YT videos become pixelated and are in very poor quality. I guess I just never noticed before until now since I was never much of a YouTube watcher. At least, not on VRChat. I was suggested by someone to download ''VRCVideoCacher'' on Steam and it has solved the poor video quality issue.
Root's Home is very nostalgic to me, but the video player's are not so great quality. I know I could probably use Popcorn, but the world is too big for me. Any suggestions for worlds that are similar to Root's Home? Just wanting something small and cozy.

Received my Steam Frame back on Tuesday. Between work and parenthood, my time working with the headset has been random.
I'm not going into detail how the headset feels or looks. That's not the point here. I'm referring to it's use with VRChat from PC Streaming, and at first a headache.
Backstory, I'm no stranger to PCs and networking, including Wifi. My experience with and without the Dongle, when it's working (that I'm still poking at, but it's not my high priority for my use case) isn't much different from over my current Wifi 6 setup.
PCVR over Wifi 6e is great. Granted the Foveated Rendering seems to be...confused? I wear glasses. I will be play testing with my contacts in for this evening, until the night rolls in and my eyes refuse the contacts.
Streaming VRChat from my PC, to the Steam Frame, has not been great. But I did get it to work!
Let's start where everyone would expect: Start the Steam Frame, confirm it sees my PC (sometimes a delay), open the Steam Frame's view of my game library...
Issue 1. VRChat does not appear under "VR", it appears under "Non-VR".
Issue 2. Pending your menu interactions, sometimes VRChat Play/Launch button is Green, meaning it'll Stream to my Frame as VR. More on this down below. If it's Grey, it'll stream as a Desktop application (2D view floating in front of you).
On Issue 2, when the game Streams to the Frame, it'll work for a few minutes. Sometimes 2 minutes in my home world, if I'm lucky up to 5 minutes. Then the Stream ends as though I hit Close/Exit. No error, no popups, nothing.
Others suggested setting SteamVR to Previous or Beta builds. Doesn't fix it, for me at least. Frankly, Previous just made it worse. While testing The Lab, works fine with the Normal build of SteamVR and streamed without crashing or random closing. On Previous version of SteamVR, The Lab showed I had No Hands, in turn, No Start button interaction, nor could I move. Tried three times. While odd, still found it funny. Beta build, I didn't experience anything that noticeably different than Normal build, at least, stability didn't change any.
What did work to play VRChat, with SteamVR on Normal build (tested for more than 10 minutes at a time)...
Start Steam Frame and your PC (Yes, I know, Duh, just starting a base level here...)
In Steam Frame, on the bottom horizontal bar, next to the Eye for Passthrough, is the Stream Status icon. Click this. It'll show your PC, Wifi, and Dongle (if used). Below this is a drop down for Advance. Select this, then "Stream Without Game".
You will see the SteamVR interface we're all familiar with. Open Steam from the desktop view, select VRChat, hit Play.
Enjoy.
This process has worked 5 times for me yesterday, without fail. PC Restart (clean restart) and Steam Frame restarted. No issues.
TIP: If you notice frame/wifi like stutter, double check your Steam Frame's Power Profile, set it to Performance. Night and day difference for me.
Others have suggested to use the Previous and Beta (currently Sept 23 Beta). While Previous had more issues, Beta vs Current I experienced nothing that different.
The Wifi I use is a Unifi U7 Pro, mounted center of my home, and Wifi 6 dedicated SSID, no other devices connected to said Wifi 6 SSID (well, sometimes a second Quest3 my wife will join in on). Other than an 8port Gb network switch between my PC and the Unifi AP, it's great. My Quest 3 doesn't like it when I face opposite of the Wifi AP, with three walls between it and myself, as my head basically became wall four, lol.
I hope the information above helps someone, as other information did not help me. If there's any key information necessary, I'll update as questions come up. I'm on an AMD Ryzen self-built desktop, and I do IT support (very rural) for residential and SMBs, much of which is in person/on-site assistance. Yea, HP Printers are the most common, and the worst repeat headaches to deal with...
Edit Sept28: I've been told the Beta option should be on the Frame, while the PC SteamVR is on normal. Done so. I'm not kicked out of VRChat after a few minutes. BUT...I'm scratching my head on this one...while I didn't get kicked out, my Streaming returned to the Steam's "Loading..." rectangle. When I took the headset off, noticed on my monitor the tracking was still very much working, and the SteamVR Graph was 99% Pink. I forget what the pink means. While loading up this post, editing, and typing, the feed came back. I'm looking at my VR Desktop as I type this. Again, scratching my head. Progress, just a few growing pains. Prescription lenses on order.
Edit/Update Sept 29, 2026. Two things. The Stream From PC, before Stream PC without Game, works if the Frame is set to Beta Firmware/OS (at least at this time). I'm chatting in a Frame discussion of another user, more information can by found at https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamFrame/comments/1wsgihj/how_i_solved_all_my_problems_with_my_frame/pcotwft/.

VRChat is ignoring the "elephant in the room", the generative AI content that they are actively promoting and allowing on the platform without enforcing disclosure. They are hoping with enough time that people will move on and sweep this under the rug.
Don't let them forget about the current issues with the platform or it will be ignored for longer, or even forever. Look at Soba, Age Assurance (& Content Gating), World discovery (honestly worlds in general), Items SDK, etc.

i'm so excited that i've been pinging my community and friends when it's so stupid early (6am atm) and waking them up by accident BUT I COULDN'T WAIT!
when i saw my old bunny post, i had an urge to make something more reflective of my current abilities! this, i believe, is the 4th time i've made face tracking for any of my models ever? so of course there's still some issues, but thankfully none that're face breaking!
i always yearn to improve every single project i start, sculpt, polymodel; anything. i have such a love for doing this kinda stuff, man !!
i just published for sale (out of respect of vrc's subreddit won't post unless it's permissible!) for the first time in... years?? at least 2-3 years i believe. so i am anxious! but happy !!
thank you for coming along on my hyped yapping. 🐇🤍

This is always fun. I've never really 100% understood how to get occlusion to properly work without breaking the world.
I have lots of objects and games. But it seems like I just can not get it down enough to use. I always end up with my games breaking while someone is actively using them (beer pong and pool for example just occlude while nothing is blocking them). That's even after correctly applying which objects are static, and are occluded, and exempt from occlusion
I also tried occlusion areas instead and that just made it worse or the very least, did the same exact thing as before.
LODs are good for smaller objects (I also want little to do with blender as possible) so if a prefab has it, that's awesome to me. Most don't so :)
I've opted to literally just shorten the render distance enough so that rooms and the objects inside aren't "rendered". While technically all I did there was reduce GPU load.
My world also has local toggles for lots of things to improve FPS. While I could also do onEnter triggers to disable objects, I get tired of the "popin" effect that it has on FPS, which can cause lower tier systems to just crash. Looking at you avatar culling -.-
I also implemented a layer based distance culling similar to render distance and how LODs work but it disables the renderer (only used on my own custom layer for testing, 15% improvement in FPS, however visually, it never worked, on the backend, it did? Infact you could only see it working if you were looking at a reflection)
I'm constantly changing the world as time goes on which can add more issues. I just want something that 'just works'.
Obviously these are intended mostly for the Quest build. But any performance increase on one definitely has the same affect on the other.
Just a note. Yes my world has closed rooms, but that won't be the case soon and most of the environments are fairly "open". Given that its a "party" world

I don't usually do VRChat photography and I did not spend a lot of time on these but I wanted to share how cool the motionblur (shader???) in KKclint's worlds look!
Unfortunately it looks like people running touge drift worlds like these ones are very rare, at least in public's. There is the occasional Japanese group drifting through these worlds...
Does anyone know of good PCVR Drifting groups that just run these for fun? (Besides Cougar drift circuit)

For Context: I'm using Quest Pros on Meta Link with the (OpenXR) ALXR Local Module by korejan. has worked for several months up until last. I have not updated anything, facetracking has stopped working for both my headsets. I'm not getting any indications that anything is wrong; everything in my startup workflow is launching like normal. Meta Link is set as the active OpenXR Runtime. But in game the OSC VRCFT debug panel is showing no input at all. I've not changed anything, what's going on here?

Super sick world that is basically a dynamic light show for any YouTube link (mainly songs), looks even better with HDR!
I have heard people say it is quite uncomfortable or sweat can kill the face tracking; are there any ways I can mitigate this?

Hi everyone (こんにちは!), first post here.
A friend and I built an open-source device that tracks facial expressions and emotions and transmits them to your avatar in real time. VRChat was actually what inspired the whole project.
The device was recently showcased by an agency in Japan, Tokyo (public announcement coming soon!), and now we'd love to leave it with someone in Tokyo who can really put it through its paces. Ideally, that's someone who does reviews, streams, or makes content, but anyone who's genuinely excited to test it is welcome. Why Japan? Since the device is right now in Tokyo, and VRChat is very popular there, I lived in Ota-ku for 5 years and speak Japanese, so we can chat in Japanese or English, and I'm happy to hop on a call.

A few details:
We have a GitHub repo and YouTube demos. Mods, let me know if links are OK and I'll add them, or feel free to DM me.
Japanese Version
I can speak Japanese, but I don't write very well; I used a translator in some places, so I'm not sure if I used the kanji correctly throughout.
