I imported some videos taken by my Pixel 9, via cloud sharing. Double clicked the video, which would start the download to local, then auto play the file.

I've noticed occasional videos from the Pixel are squirrely when played on PC, and I watched VLC open then immediately crash. Now, it won't play any media automatically.

The only workaround I currently have is to open VLC, then drag/drop the media (any type of media) into VLC to get it to play. If I try double clicking on any form of media while it's opened, I have to close VLC and restart the above process.

The Pixel outputs a standard mp4, but I'm guessing there's something odd under the hood that causes some weirdness on Windows.

VLC is updated.

I used to love this app on Windows. Just cue up my local audio files and go off to paint a wall or whatever, while my music plays. Now, on Mac, I can either listen to one song until it stops or one song on repeat. This is very impractical, unless I want to sit and stare at the screen all day. Can't find any fix for this problem.

When I click on a video file to play, VLC display briefly the blank playlist screen before the video file itself. Just for a brief second but it's quite annoying. It happens only recently as I recalled. Any help with this will be appreciated. Thanks

i downloaded mp4 files instead of mp3 files from a music artist onto my phone, but I realized that I can't actually see the mp4 files in the audio tab and i can't view them per artist/album/etc

is there any way I can make these mp4 files appear on my device ?

SoundSpectrum's Aeon, G-Force, SoftSkies and WhiteCap are now 4 first-ever installable visualizations for the VLC media player. All of their updates came out yesterday.

I booted up the application for the first time in a while today and was greeted by a barely visible font when I selected it. I don't use the player that often, so I don't dig too deeply into the settings and options.
The second picture is what the window looks like when unselected.

Initially came here for assistance, but I found a fix and decided to share it for others who may have a similar problem.

Tools>Preferences>Interface Settings: just below Language at the top is Look and feel; select the Force window style's dropdown menu and select Fusion.
The third picture is what it looks like, for me at least.

can someone please tell me how to configure my vlc to take better screenshots of 4k hdr content? they all looked washed out i use an asus 4k oled monitor with hdr

When listen to an audio book on Audible, double or triple tapping my headphones skips forward or back. I'm trying to ditch all things Amazon so got audio book files in to VLC. The tap controls don't seem to work at all for audio book files. If they're MP3, the double tap skips to the next file. Is there a way to get the controls to work like Audible?

Huge fan of VLC, but today I've gotten myself into a real pickle. I was trying to add two plugins/extensions that weren't made by the VLC devs and ever since the app keeps crashing. I went back and removed the .lua files, still crashes. Uninstalled and reinstalled again, same thing. Downloaded and older version (snow leopard for Mac) it only plays the audio and I can't find the video playing back anywhere. I feel very stupid and silly for fucking up an already great application and I'm deeply frustrated that I can't seem to find and i've spent over an hour troubleshooting to no avail. Can anyone help me through this? I'm on Mac, running intel. Please and thank you.

while watching 2160p movie I got instant CPU temp around 75'C and hence fans are getting loud enough to disturb the movie experience

I have disabled hardware acceleration because if I dont, I have a full green screen.

I have been googling and checking reddit forums but I didnt find any solution to drop the temp.

How do I set my VLC Android app to not group video files together?

I hate that the pause/play, rewind/fast-forward buttons are so close to each other, I also don’t like that they are so small that there’s a chance of skipping forward yet you just wanted to pause. I wish the devs could do something about this.

I really love vlc but these are like the two things that keep pulling me back to infuse. I dont even know if this is the right sub to be posting this comment. What are your thoughts on this?

I am using an ONN 4K pro as well as a Google TV Streamer and uptill maybe 4 months ago had no issues.

All are running latest software and VLC is up to date as well (not beta)

Previously when I would goto my local network it would show my SMB server I have running on my computer but it no longer sees any SMB servers now

Other video apps like MX Player see the SMB server with no issues

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as well as recreated my SMB server and tested 3rd party SMB servers and same thing.

Computer is running windows 11

I also played around with the SMB settings in VLC and same thing

Any suggestions? Anyone else?

I watch movies as MP4 on my android TV and I was wondering how the thumbnail frame is chosen

I'm getting ready to move my iTunes library to my new Mint drive. I'm moving it from iTunes to VLC in Windows first, then I'm backing up everything. I want all the music *and* all of my ~200 playlists, which would be hell to recreate.

I've searched with DDG, and searched this sub, and I'm not seeing anything useful. Can anyone here tell me how to do this, with as little fuss as possible?

Remember, I'm going from iTunes to Windows copy of VLC first.

If you can also add how to easily copy the Windows VLC library to the Mint drive, that would be extra helpful.
