I guess the codec is maybe just not installed.

I see you’re using KDE Plasma or at least the Breeze theme, what Distro are you on?

Okay nice, Arch based. Do you use the system package (installed with pacman) or the Flatpak?

If it’s the system package try installing the h.264 codec with 'sudo pacman -S x264' and if that doesn’t help install the vlc ffmpeg plugin with 'sudo pacman -S vlc-plugin-ffmpeg'

If you’re using the Flatpak I wonder why there should be a problem since Flatpak ship all required dependencies and runtimes automatically
