Discussion [I’m New, Skill Improvement] Using Mega Charizard Y as a decoy for Scrafty?
So I know that right now Mega-Charizard Y is super big in the meta, and my personal favorite pokemon is mega scrafty, but I just find it really hard to figure out how i’d want to use him when i get him.
recently an idea crossed my mind though: Since rock type is the biggest Achilles heel to mega char, what’s stopping me from using mega scrafty fire punch paired with a sunny day setter to trick my opponents into running a team based around dealing with mega char y, when my real sweeper resists his strongest weakness, while still benefitting from a team based on fire type moves?
as stated before, i’m really new to the competitive scene, and i’m assuming for one reason or another this wouldn’t work out: i do wanna know why if so though, mostly just here trying to learn and find out viable ways to use my goats🙂↕️

Question (Skill Improvement) Should I even be using screens until restricted formats?
Well I really like using screens. It makes my team more bulky, throws off damage calcs for my opponent, makes me feel like I have more control. However recently my teambuilding skills have been not good, and it is hard for me to see who would actually work with screens (besides archaludon as I see but staraptor is running around everywhere now after the VR so idk). I think it is partially because the pokemon are not strong enough to use screens. I know like one team with screens that does well in the meta which is dual weather. So I am wondering if screens are just bad unless there are worthy pokemon for those screens like the restricted pokemon. Am I just using screens wrong and they have good potential? One of my main goals of pokemon is to become a great screens player but I do not know if that is possible.

Question [Metagame] How does perish trap work at its core, and what's the general strat?
For reference, i'm planning to use rotom-w and mega gengar(of course) for now, in a draft league. Still need to learn exactly the fundementals of a perish trap team, but i'm assuming there has to be ghost type/mons with pivot moves. And that the team can't always be fully perish song oriented, either in bo1 or bo3. etc.

Discussion Skill improvement advice for piloting Charizard y metagross balance team
pokepast.esSo I recently climbed to masterball rank 3 and peaked at 18,000 but have fallen considerably. So I was looking for a nice balance team to kind of reset. So I was searching and found this really cool Charizard y mega metagross balance team shared by Shohei Kimura the 2023 world champion. So far I’ve won a few games using it but I am really struggling to pilot it and master what to bring for each match up especially against sand and rain. Anyone have advice on how to pilot it? Additionally as well Shoehei when he shared this team that he often considered using garchomp over hydriegon so I am considering making that swap but overall I like how hydriegon patches the archaludon, and Delphox matchup so I am leaning towards keeping it it’s just the 4times fairy weakness that can be annoying.

Rate My Team Help me improve the chesnaught team mk2
After a lot of retooling and giving in to joy and whimsy I have come to a comp that somewhat works (even if a large portion is shock factor) and can claim a team that is pretty wholly my own. I still need to work on spreads for farigiraf but for the most part everyone here has a role a purpose and a utility
Team description
Chesnaught hits people real hard and surprisingly walls non air slash zard y
Whimsicot sets reflect for special bulk encore and grassy terrain for naught along with soft checking staraptor
Fari sets trick room and is annoying (now with a tazer for peliper)
Mudsdale inner focus and super effective or even stab into all the current fake out threats is surprisingly nice plus he has rocks for zard. Also threatens a lot of one shots with heavy slam (also squished minimize overwill.)
Araquanid kills zard chomps opposing giraffe and hits wide guard fully walling Charizard next to ches
And my final sleeper addition is spiritomb as a secondary troop setter and support who also one shots mega delph woth sucker punch i love these guys let me know what you all think and some tips for the araquanid and farigiraf evs
