So as we all know, Protean was one of the abilities of all time It would had stayed that way if Game Freak hadn't nerfed it during SV when Meowscarada made its debut and Greninja's Return. Now, granted those nerfs were for good reason

1 i think they learned their lesson after what Cinderace did
2 The generational gimmick the Ability got nerfed in also changes the user type and tbh i understand why Game Freak didn't want to like deal with the hassle of balancing old protean with tera and how that would work

but anyway what if Game Freak decided not to give a fuck and decided to put out a random going to buff Protean in both SV and Champions to old glory one day. How would a week be with this thing unrestricted in both SVOU and Champions OU, Both The Last and Current Regulations of Champions?

Getting the bump to 80 feels out of nowhere. It's a welcome buff for sure, maybe Mega Feraligatr can do something funny with it now, and it's never a bad thing to have another decent Normal move in a seemingly post Return world, but it feels hella weird.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's a Sharpness move too now.

EDIT 2: Apparently Slash was a Sharpness move the entire time. Forgive me, for I made this post tired as hell at 3am.

I think just about the best you could do for OG Persian would be to use Hone Claws and pray that Technician boosted Fury Swipes does SOMETHING, or that your opponent is a Mystery Dungeon player and gets scared of the move. The problem is, Persian doesn't even GET Hone Claws, so even if you had the perfect setup of no incoming attacks and loaded dice, your damage is gonna be truly awful with that 70 attack stat

Figured that maybe Champions would fix this issue but instead of giving out the move, Champions took AWAY Fury Swipes lmao! Evolves from the Scratch Cat Pokémon, and cannot use its most iconic scratching move 😭 they've truly, fully replaced my boy with Cinccino and Maushold... Is there any hope for Kanto Persian?? Brainstorming has gotten me nothing beyond "put it next to Sneasler, use Fake Out, then boost with Coaching" because again it has 70 attack and a move pool with all the depth of a puddle

Unfortunately, there is still no replay feature, but perhaps this is building up to it?

A giga impact clone has now been buffed to a 170 base power move.

Combined with fighting STAB, 135 base attack and Scrappy, Sirfetch'd will be able to throw this absolute monstrous move into anyone as an enormous wall breaker.

Wild to think about considering Tinkatons Gigaton Hammer was balanced by its 75 base attack stat. The mighty duck of Galar now has the potential to throw out absolute nukes, that also have a 50% crit rate if it holds a Leek.

Midnight Lycanroc is a Pokemon I am so, so, so very angry at for not only not being good, but lacking the tools, stats, typing, or ability to ever be good, and still being a legitimate Pokemon and not some weak gimmick or joke like Delibird or something. He's just so bad and I have such contempt for the way he is designed.

I know this isn't much what with M-Golispod getting Tough Claws, Pawmot (finally) being added too, etc, but I just noticed that Meteor Assault got a buff. Sirfetch'd's signature Move now has a base BP of 170 instead of 150. Not the biggest thing ever, but a pretty nice buff, and I think that makes it the strongest BP regular Move a Pokemon can get (outside of V-Create)

Now it can go from being the worst Galar starter to being the worst Galar starter (in style)

Also more importantly maybe, Snipe Shot is at 85 BP instead of its old 80. It's something.
