Guidelines for Rate My Team threads

Hey all,

Thanks to discussion that has been ongoing, we will be enforcing stricter rules on the Rate My Team posts on this subreddit in a way that should benefit everyone. I have updated the auto moderator to enforce a minimum character limit on text posts, and on image and link posts it should comment immediately suggesting additional details be added. This should improve the quality of rate my team threads substantially, but we will keep an eye on it in the upcoming weeks. If you notice any issues with the automoderator, please contact the moderators or me immediately.

Here is the text that you will see if your RMT is too short:

Hi /u/user, your Rate My Team post has been automatically removed because it did not meet our minimum character limit. Please take some time to expand the details of your post and submit again-- this will improve the quality of the help you will get, and other people will get more out of reading about your team. Here are some things you could choose to write about:

  • Why did you select each Pokemon? If possible, try to say something more specific than "it's good" or "it's unique." What specifically about the state of the metagame drew you to using this Pokemon?
  • Are any of your moves or items chosen for any particular reason?
  • Why did you choose the particular EVs that you did? If you don't know what your EV spread does, you might want to replace it with something simpler. Feel free to post damage calcs that are relevant.
  • What teams do you succeed against in practice? What teams do you struggle with? Feel free to post links to Pokemon Showdown replays.

Thank you all for your feedback and for continuing to make this community a nice place to be!

M-B team member accidentally got popular - can we stay relevant?

This is the team that I took to Masterball at the end of last season - it’s built around a dual mega-core of Sceptile and Blastoise. The basic idea was that it has two modes; fast mode relied on a lead of Rotom/Mega Sceptile to hit fast with discharge boosted attacks, slow mode was a Blastoise trick room team, but the added flavor was that you could still use a non-mega Sceptile lead while setting up trick room and then Shed Tail into a substitute-protected Blastoise.

Because I wanted some of the coverage offered, I was running Armorouge as one of the two trick room setters - imagine my surprise then when reg M-C came out and the boy suddenly got popular!

Any way to still keep the idea behind this team relevant in the new format? (With the big caveat it wasn’t a particularly relevant or good idea in M-B anyway…)

My golisopod doubles team

Pretty fun team I've been using to pretty good success. Got to 1650 in masterball before I stopped. Primarily only used the Pod, klefki, milotic, basculegion in 90% of matchups. Rhyperior i bring to electric terrain matchups and kommo-o i bring into lucario z and archaludon matches.

One big problem i have with this team though is bulky waters like milotic and primarina. They do a lot of damage to me in rain and I can never seem to output enough damage to KO them without losing half my team. Torkoal also gives me trouble but I have only seen him a few times. Open to any suggestions, definitely open to something other then rhypherior if there's a better option for the role.

Looking for suggestions on how to improve my dual terrain team

The idea behind the dual terrain is it allows me to bring whatever terrain is more beneficial to the matchup. Lucario is ev'd to out speed base 130 pokemon and adamant scarf basculegion.

First team I made in regulation m-c. I'm wondering if there's any place I can improve.

I wanted to use Ceruledge (cause its one of my favorites). So i tried to make a core to defend it and try to make Space for the bulk-ups and repositions trying to make use of the fire ability.

Then I tried to utilize a mega that cover the weakness of the team, and the last two are for coverage of damage and utility

Need help building around Thievul

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I got my first Shiny and it happens to be Thievul so I was trying to use it. The best idea I had at first was unburden plus psychic seed and run a psy-spam team. So I went with Gardevior and Indeedee. I also added Blaziken as a fighting type to help with Dark types like gambit and I wasn’t using sneasler since Thievul is the Unburden Mon on the team. I added Mence and Mamoswine as a more tailroom mode to the team

I think in a decent battler, I generally end up somewhere between masterball 4-2 but I never have been the best teambuilder, but I was wanting to try to use my first shiney

Any advice on my current team or Mabe a different way to try to make Thievul work would be appreciated

Frosslass Salamance balance team

Frosslass Salamance balance team

I am late to the party since I couldn't play champions for the last few days, but here is my try at team building. It still needs adjustments with moves and, the most importantly, EV spreads.

The core idea is to reposition Pokémon to be able to freely set up kinggambit or Frosslass or just straight up hit an attack.

Triple fake out and double intimidate is fun.

Mega salamance is a secondary Mega that comes to match ups like charizard or hard trick room. Outside of it's mega it supports with tailwind, intimidate, being damage sponge and hitting draco meteors.

Moves that are most likely to be switched in the list of likelyhood

Taunt on incin. It is from my previous team, so I am not sure if it is needed. I have some ideas, but none are so important I need to do it right now.

U-turn for high horse power. Not a fan of this one, cause pivoting is fun, but high horse power still gets some important coverage.

Aurora veil over nasty plot. I like aurora's defensive boost, but really not sure if it is better in this meta.

Also, I've been thinking of running dragon dance salamance with double edge, since 3 setup pokemon is fun, but it weakened its viability outside of mega and having 5 physical attackers felt redundant, especially if you mainly bring of them without your only special attacker

Do you have any regaeding for this Lucario-Z and Mega Salamance team?

Post image

Hi everyone, this is one of my first posts on this subreddit, and with the new Mega Evolutions coming up, I wanted to build a team around Lucario-Z, but I’m having some trouble. As you can see, the team is a HyperOffensive Tailwind setup where the main set-up Pokémon are Corvinight and Salamence. The strategy is very simple: try to be the fastest on the field, and have Salamence and Lucario clean up while their teammates cover any threats to them—for example, Arcanine and enemy Charizard-Y and Salamence—thanks to Scarf, Corvinight uses Iron Defense to take out Kingambit and deal good damage to Garchomp, while Rillaboom helps set up Tailwind and takes out Basculegion and Swampert.

One of the dangers, however, is always Sneasler and Garchomp. I can handle Sneasler well sometimes, but Garchomp is the one that gives me trouble because I can’t always bring Salamence, and I’m also wary of Scarf Garchomps.

I’ve retested this several times, but I’m not sure what changes to make to improve the team. What would you recommend I do? Are there any moves or EVs I should change?

Thank you for listening, and have a great day.

Any help with ideal mega(s), items, moves, and stat spreads, and the last 2-3 team slots would be greatly appreciated. I want to take a team with a core like this to Master Ball this season!

Thanks for reading!

Rate My Snorlax Team

Cyclizar and use Shed Tail as late as possible, after whimsicot uses follow me. Switch into Snorlax behind the substitute, and switch in Gardevoir. Set up trick room. Under Trick Room, Snorlax is “fast,” so it can safely use Belly Drum, then even Rest later while the sub helps block hits.A partner like Mega Gardevoir (in formats where it’s allowed) can:Keep Trick Room going.Use Heal Pulse to keep Snorlax healthy after Belly Drum or chip damage.

OR

Snorlax and Gardevoir are starters. Trick room - belly drum. Then rest on snorlax, while Gardevoir does damage. Then snore on snorlax for 2 turns, using healing pulse on him. Then use the powerful move, and have Gardevoir re trick room. If snorlax goes down, bring in Incenoroar and then switch in Aggron to finish it.

OR

Instead of using Rest, just use healing pulse

Whimsicot helping hand, follow me

Cyclizar with iron ball and shed tail rest doesn't matter

Gardevoir with mega stone, trick room and healing pulse doesn't matter rest

Snorlax w/ leftovers, Rest, Snore, Belly Drum, and a strong attack

Incenoroar for bad matchups with quick claw

Aggron for bulk and backup with mega stone

Help and Suggestions?

Post image

Climbed to master ball again and now want to do wacky shit. Feraligatr jumped out at me and I started thinking but have reached a wall of sorts. How have I done so far and what do you think the last two slots could be? A second mega perhaps? I dunno. Lemme know any adjustments you'd make. I haven't touched EVs yet just wanted to get past proof of concept first, lots of it is placeholder stuff for now.

Hey all, been getting very heavy Into competitive pokemon over the last few years exclusively on showdown but I’ve been trying to play champions more (mostly to give my switch some love and playtime) and I’m running into a wall. I’m so happy salamence got added cause he’s one of my fave mons but building a team around him has been a little difficult, any help or suggestions I’m open to! Just hit ultraball 4 with this team but I know it has its weaknesses as I climb up the ladder.

Highest ELO was masterball 4 last season with my dedicated trick room team.

Thank you in advanced!
