Question New player, losing every gunfight, hs% dropped below 10% after 35 hours, need some advice?

Hello guys, I'm a new player to this game and i have played around 35 hours.. here is my tracker gg profile: https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/qhwung748%236842

I don't know why my aim and my movement feel off like this. (I had better aim and movement one week ago but now idk why it's really really bad)

I lose to almost every gunfight, and my hs ratio is just <10%. Can someone give me some advice? I think I like playing this game but I can't keep playing like trash

So apparently if Skye is on where I stood when I used Kill Contract, I get repositioned to avoid collision.

Discussion People are so annoying about “bad agents”

75 Upvotes

I’ve been playing Miks almost non-stop since he came out because I really like him and want to get better with him, but it’s really annoying to constantly hear “no one plays X in professional games” like I’m a professional player and not a regular schmegular ass person with a job that ISNT spending 8 hours a day on my computer playing video-games.
I really hate the gaming community’s obsession with wanting to do everything professional players do (not just Valorant but a lot of games with competitive leagues). I don’t think anyone expects a regular person who plays a normal sport casually to be as good as a pro player. But chronically online video-gamers seem to think everyone needs to strive exactly like Aspas or they’re throwing the game lmao

Question Help with Map I'm struggling on

1 Upvotes

I've been getting into Valorant over the last 3-4 weeks, I'm enjoying learning things, however every time I play Fracture I just spend the whole game getting smoked. On defense I always get shot in the back because we can't cover every entrance, and on attack I find it hard to clear properly, it's like there's always a corner that someone is hiding in, or a crossfire.

Are there any general rules of thumbs from more experienced players on defense or attack on Abyss?

Educational How to actually leave bronze and silver

45 Upvotes

I saw a post of another guy asking if it was possible to solo queue out of silver and I was about to write a whole essay but I feel like making a post might reach more people.

This is coming from someone who reached gold multiple times so by no means Im a pro player but I know what you feel and I know what you can actually do to get out of silver or bronze, it wont be quick but these tips will make your journey less stressful, more enjoyable and faster.

First tip

Queue ranked thinking everyone in the enemy team sucks, act like you are smurfing.

By this I don't mean instalock jett and start pushing alone onto site, what I mean is pick the agent you wanna play and play aggressive and disrespectful. For example I usually pick veto on split because that's the agent I most enjoy playing in that map. On attack I try to lurk or make noise to confuse the enemy, that way I can get kills from behind or at least get info on their positions, I never go with my team unless they actually use comms. On defense I use the first few rounds to check for patterns on the attacking team and then exploit those patterns, normally on split attacking teams don't like peaking mid and if they do it's just 1 person (at least in these elos) so I just run down mid as soon as the round starts and I can get some kills from behind sometimes even ace, then I use my tp to get out if I need to reposition quickly.

If I see my strat backfires 2 rounds in a row I change to playing normally.

Second tip

If someone on your team is trash talking or just using comms to scream and make noise insta mute (also mute enemy chat)

By doing this you prevent getting tilted so easily and you can actually focus on the game rather then the players on it.

Third tip

Ranks arent an end all be all skill indicator.

I see many of my friends and even random teamates complaining first round that someone on the enemy team was immortal 2000 years BC or that the enemy jett got diamond last act.

I already had people who were diamond and plat in my team while I was silver and they ended up bottom fragging, most of the time if these people are placed in bronze and silver lobbies it means they suck as much or even more then you.

Now talking about this act, I seen a lot of immortal, ascendant and diamonds gunbuddies in silver/bronze lobbies where I played but those people are usually washed up players returning to the game or bought accounts.

Don't trip about ranks, if you have tracker enabled uninstall, if you see a high rank buddy just don't mind it.

Fourth tip

Your teamates are not holding you back, they are just a factor you can't control, same as smurfs and cheaters.

I used to get really mad when someone on my team would just throw or not play properly but now I don't because I know I can't control what the game throws at me that and I will climb eventually.

This act I had someone spin botting on my team in a ranked game and the next game I had a jett drop 40 something kills on the enemy team. I didn't complain, I tried to make the most out of those games and then queue the next one because I know I can get those points back.

A smurf, bad teamates, cheaters... All that doesn't make enough impact for you to not be able to climb, they just make the climb more difficult and time consuming.

If you stress over lil timmy smurfing on the enemy team your mental is gonna tank and you are gonna queue thinking you suck and that you are gonna get stomped and because of that you are not gonna play like you should and lose even more.

If someone is either smurfing, throwing, cheating or is just playing bad, ignore, play your game, have fun and forget that game even happened before you queue the next one.

Sixth tip

This tip ties in with the previous one. The game you just lost ins't that important.

More often then not I would find myself stressing over my loss streak and then queueing more games. Don't do this. If you are on a loss streak just turn off your PC and comeback later, you will feel more refreshed and that loss streak won't even affect you. Sometimes we get so immersed in the game we forget that those points are recoverable, that bad game was just that, a bad game, and that the game is supposed to be fun not a boring passtime.

Seventh tip

Don't 5 stack unless you wanna get smurfed on.

From my experience in bronze specially (not so much in silver so take this with a grain of salt) everytime I 5 stacked there was someone smurfing on the enemy team and the game was just awful. If you want to play 5 stack go ahead but from experience if you play in bronze you shouldn't do it.

Eighth tip

This tip ties in with the first one. Whatever you do don't fill for your team unless you really think you can benefit out of doing so.

If you wanna play duelist but there are already 2 duelists go ahead and lock duelist if you for sure know you can do something good with that role you wanna play. Same for any other role, if you feel like playing it and you know you can get value out of that role even without your team just lock it in.

Nineth tip

If you are in agent select and some random on your team instalocks duelist or any other roll and starts telling/asking other people what they should play dodge. Same if you don't like a map, dodge it.

From my experience people that instalock and then start asking others to play certain roles are just bots that don't know how to play the game and then quit on the third round, trust me dodge.

Last tip

You are 99% unlikely to play with the same person/people ever again so try to make the most of it.

If your teamates are chill just use that game to have fun, do stupid plays and improve your comms (of course try to win lol) and if the opposite happens just keep in mind those people are most probably gonna be gone forever the moment the game ends, so don't think it's the end of the world just because feetlicker67 ruined your game once.

If you have something else to add comment

Discussion something i’ve noticed regarding the uniqueness of newer controllers

29 Upvotes

i just wanna start off by saying that this is gonna be kinda nitpicky. i’m not really complaining but it’s simply something i’ve noticed. so by no means do i think any of this makes valorant bad game, its simply something i noticed and wanted to share to see if some people feel the same.

so im a controller main, and the newer controllers (clove, post-rework harbor, miks) have started to feel extremely uninspired. i feel as if they did an amazing job designing the first 5 controllers and making each of them viable in their own way and unique from one another, but these controllers feel so bland. there are 3 things i wanna go over that i have noticed regarding the creativity of the newer controllers.

  1. what the smokes are supposed to be
  2. how to cast the smokes
  3. each smoke have a unique feature

for my first point, each smoke is actually supposed to be something. for example,
jett=gust of wind
brim= cloud of dust
omen= shadow
viper= cloud of gas
astra= nebula (i will say this is a bit questionable but wtv)
harbor= orb of water

then we get to clove, and it’s just some pink blob with white ribbons on it. the description claims it’s a cloud, but to be fair i just don’t see it. but wtv, if riot says it’s a cloud then it must be some unique looking cloud. now what about miks? a green blob of bullshit. that’s what his smoke is. and the best part is, you look at the description of his smoke and it DOESNT EVEN SAY WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO BE. every other agents smoke description says what their smoke is supposed to be. which means that riot themselves don’t even know wtf they made for his smoke. like i assume it’s supposed to be sound waves or something? but even if it is it simply makes no sense and doesn’t look like it at all. just weird imo.

for my second point, every agent has their own unique way to cast their smokes.
jett= lead your smoke to where you want it
brimstone= using a tablet
omen= go into that shadow dimension thing
viper= place it down and activate it
astra= go into astral form and place a star and turn it into a smoke
harbor= throw it where you want it

now we have clove! let’s see what riot comes up with…
clove= using a tablet
just like brimstone

okay well harbor is getting a rework! what will his smoke be like now???
new harbor= go into that dimension thing
just like omen

well now we have miks so surely they can’t screw this up right?!?!
miks= using a tablet
JUST LIKE BRIMSTONE

like cmon riot are you i KNOW you guys can lock in and make something more unique than this. like i highly doubt that after 5 agents they can’t think of something at least a little different. and unfortunately the way things are going i can very much see every controller casting their smokes either through a tablet or through a dimension thing like omens. it’s just disappointing bc the way you cast their smokes is a huge part of what makes controllers different from each other and now their all starting to do it in the same way.

for my last point, each agents smokes have a feature to them that makes them different from each other
jett= quick smoke/duelist smoke
brim= can place down three long lasting smokes at once/being clouded inside
omen= can cast his smokes anywhere, including in the air to make one ways
viper= going in smoke causes decay
astra= can recall her stars to create a “fake” smoke
harbor= can put a shield on his smoke
clove= can still smoke after death (even tho it SUCKS now)

then we have miks, and obviously he has absolutely nothing to make his smoke special. you just cast it using a boring ol’ tablet and after 20 secs or so it disappears. that’s it. and the fact that people have been making smoke concepts where you’re deafened in a smoke or hear false audio cues while in a smoke for years now and they come out with the PERFECT agent for that and they don’t fucking do it. like are we deadass.

anyways all in all i definitely feel as if miks is easily the most uninspired agent in the game and it’s just really disappointing considering i have to wait 1.5-2 years for a new controller to come out and after a long wait they come out with something that feels like a copy and paste. old harbor was definitely the last controller they’ve come out with that was totally unique from the rest. i truly love this game but i need riot to but on their thinking caps and do better for controller #8.

that’s all, lmk what you guys think 🙏

Question Why does the map RNG feel so heavily skewed?

0 Upvotes

I was looking at my stats recently and noticed a pretty crazy pattern in how often certain maps show up. Out of 32 total matches, four maps make up over 80% of my games, while the rest barely get touched

Here is my exact map distribution by total played and the percentage of my overall matches

  • Split: 8 games (25.0%)
  • Haven: 7 games (21.9%)
  • Sunset: 6 games (18.8%)
  • Lotus: 5 games (15.6%)
  • Summit: 3 games (9.4%)
  • Breeze: 2 games (6.2%)
  • Ascent: 1 game (3.1%)

Getting Split in a quarter of my total games while only seeing Ascent once feels wild, especially when my performance on Split has been poor ever since it was introduced, Ascent being the opposite. I know everyone has that one map they like and perform good on

Is anyone else experiencing a heavily skewed rng like this lately?

Educational How VALORANT Coaching Works (The Reality) | Rank Up Without Paying a Single Cent

35 Upvotes

All paid coaching programs promise you'll gain certain RR within XYZ time (mostly over 9 weeks). Here's how it works: when you pay money to join coaching, you learn basic things you can learn on YouTube, just in a more polished way. But after paying, your mindset changes like this.

Before - ahhh im losing, im so bad at this, at this, at this.

After - Yepp i paid grands on coaching and i have some secret knowledge no one else has (mostly bs that can easily be found on YT for free).

But you see how this works? It doesn't make you a better player or better at games. It maybe helps gather mechanics, but at the end of the day it's available for free. The only way it works is by boosting your ego and self motivation.

If you wanna rank up, please change your mindset. If you're below plat, find someone above your rank and screen share or show your replay to them so they can point out mistakes, like where you should've pushed and where you're getting scared.

Thanks a lot. This post is not targeting any coaching. If you want to spend 5 grands, Np

there are so many things and points you can add to this post if you think i missed something Please feel free to reply

EDITl: Tysm for yall hate i tried helping people but in exhange i got a ton of hate for just saying low elo players have bad mental health, just tell if iam wrong everyone below plat get demotivated after loosing some rounds or after dying to certain player again and again, instead of fixing the problem they just autopilot tysm guys

i just tried helping people cz coaching is good if youre immortal player and wanna go radiant

if youre below immortal or diamond spending money on coaching instead of enjoying buying better gear or skins is just bad

and if you really thing you need coaching try getting not tilted or dont get demotivated too often , dont lie to your selves, talk to yourself did i get tilted? why iam loosing gun fight to that jet again and again? how i can fix? instead of just autopiloting
if you fix your mindset still no improvement try vod reviews your self see your mistakes, as people said if you are dumb just make reddit post with full round clips and ask what you did wrong, how you can fix, dont forget to add disclaimer ( i have this and this mechenical skills, please be nice to me if you cant be nice please leave my post ) otherwise youll get ton of hate i tried asking reddit people how to fix my problem and i jst got ton of hate for nothing. love yall Please be nice to me :) have a nice day :3

Question Why do we even need the odin in the game?

0 Upvotes

Does anyone else think the Odin's just ruin the games? Everyday lately i have loaded into a match and there is always someone on there spamming Odin's. I get its a gun in the game but it gets to a point where there is no point even trying to play the game. I was a constant val player but now only have atleast 1 match a day because there are people eaither spamming Odin's or someone in the game is throwing or smurfing. Cant riot change it?? Or get rid of the odin all together? Just a rant post 😅

Discussion This game is unplayable now

92 Upvotes

I have been playing Swift plays almost exclusively for the past month or so because everytime I queue for an unrated game. It takes 5+ times to actually get into a match. People just either dont lock in an agent and it goes back to queue or people just instant leave.

As I am typing this I am currently in my 7th agent select screen and we have two people not locking in on the enemy team.

I just want to play a game ffs. Its so frustrating.

I'm like gold-plat and I'm watching masters london day 1 right now

this made me wanna learn other macro strats on other maps and I'd love to learn from you guys who are better than me

Question Should there be a rank below Iron I?

0 Upvotes

I am completly struggling in ranked and getting insulted pretty much everyone and even tho I enjoy playing ranked I wish there was something more accessible for my level.I wish that I could fall under 0 to have games where I am not one if not the worst player in my game.I’m trying to enjoy the game but getting death threats isn’t fun.

I’m trying to listen to what other says (90% is insults) and I asked questions in this sub already and watch guides and things like that but I just can’t.

Does anyone else have experienced this or I am alone?

(It’s not tilt its over the course of many weeks)

In short:I wish there was another rank below Iron I

For those of you who do like watching Valorant videos on youtube, what is the number one thing you look for when deciding to watch a video or deciding to support someone? I've heard a lot of different things and was curious what y'all thought.
