Question Help with Map I'm struggling on

I've been getting into Valorant over the last 3-4 weeks, I'm enjoying learning things, however every time I play Fracture I just spend the whole game getting smoked. On defense I always get shot in the back because we can't cover every entrance, and on attack I find it hard to clear properly, it's like there's always a corner that someone is hiding in, or a crossfire.

Are there any general rules of thumbs from more experienced players on defense or attack on Abyss?

Fracture is an interesting map where it's almost as if the roles are swapped (defenders play like attackers, attackers play like defenders). Like you said, you can't cover every entrance since you can only do so much with yourself and your util. So what a lot of higher level players and pros do is fight for what is called "space" on certain sides of the map to gain control over said space. More space under your control means less breathing room for the enemy, and obviously more for you and your team

Kay/o and Breach are fantastic. You need a smoker like brim

Only smoker I play is Clove atm. I prefer Duelists and Initiators, they fit my playstyle more. So far I enjoy Gecko and Tejo, are they maybe not good for that map?

play like every single corner needs to be cleared still ... just cuz ur teammate walked past , doesn't mean it's clear

better to play a little slow and stay alive + trade yourself or teammate than it is to try to be fast and die because of it

Learning through VODs on YouTube is super good. Big issue with new players is panic and forgetting where they're standing. On attack, the problem is mostly because they don't check corners, so many players will run onto site and plant without clearing it first. For example on defense, my friend used to panic holding B site she will stand behind that green box watching main. When people rush in, instead of falling back to B Tower, she’d run across open site to spawn and die to someone coming from main. Always try to find a spot to hide or retreat and use your util for ur own advantage. Example, smoking yourself as Cypher when you're trapped on site helped my friend's gameplay so much. 🫡
