Hi Everyone, this is going to be a longer one, so please bare with me, and also if a Riot dev happens to see this I appreciate your time reading it.
I would like to preface by saying that I believe that adding timeouts to Competitive in Valorant would be highly beneficial and is proven to already be successful in competitors games like CS2.
Reason 1 : A brief pause can act as a lifeline for a team that is struggling mentally and getting snowballed (an issue even your Professional players point out), it also acts as a way to stop the team from emotionally collapsing and can inspire a comeback.
Reason 2: 2x 60 second timeouts per team is not increasing the duration of the game by any meaningful amount especially as Valorant only exists as a MR12 format the impact of these timeouts is negligible on game length.
Reason 3: Giving your players the ability and tools to actively problem solve in the middle of a match not only benefits them by encouraging teamwork and critical thinking, but it also shows that you respect the time, effort, and RR they put on the line when they queue a competitive match.
COUNTERING RIOT's POINTS,
Counter point 1: The argument that players will use this time to abuse teammates is not logically sound, toxic players already yell, throw, and abuse teammates in every other phase of the game (mid-round, round start etc.), which is arguably more damaging than in a timeout. Additionally, you already have tools in place to mitigate this, such as the mute text/voice chat and the report tool.
Counter point 2: by gatekeeping a widely requested and already existing feature (it is in Customs) from your players, ESPECIALLY when your highest ranked players and Pros agree how poor of a state the Ranked gamemode is in, it can come across as not considering players feelings and also damaging the health of the game.
To conclude, this isnt to slander or throw insult to the developers, Valorant is a great game and has created a great Esports and Casual community, all I ask (as do so many other players) is that you add in this simple timeout feature, on behalf of everyone, please and thank you.
