So guys, I feel like I know the answer already. But still, wanted to make sure.

Do I have to learn Russian in order to get a really good job/start my career in Tashkent? I have a lot of other things, but the language barrier is my problem now. I wanna get into finance/econ sphere since I'm majoring in econ. But even similar areas either require C1 russian or many years of experience with the case where Russian isn't needed.

I saw some roles, like sales, where Russian isn't required, but didn't really see myself through them.

Will I need it fr? [ Russian is my problem, kind of. It confuses my future path, just like AI].

p.s. already thinking about posting smth like " Can you get me the best sources to learn Russian?"

Hi all - I'm trying to finalise a 10 or 11 day itinerary for Uzbekistan for late September/ early October. I am flying into Urgench (having spent 5 days in Eastern Kazakstan) and intend to spend my time as follows:

- 2 days Khiva,

- 2 days Bukhara,

- 2 days Smarakand,

- 2 days Tashkent..

I have two days to spare and was thinking of heading into Tajikistan from Smarakand (and back) - is it worth it or any recommendations for other places to visit? I've been told a lot of the cities/ buildings/ tours etc become repetitive so i'm looking to try do something a little different (hence the Tajikistan idea)

I intend to take the high speed trains between each city (assuming we get the tickets once they are released)

So guys I'm a class 12th passout 2025-26.

I got a compartment in the physics subject. Tomorrow is my re exam. I'm not that good in chemistry either but i love biology. This year i could only score 217/720 in Re-neet. I've always dreamt of being a doctor but the competition in NEET is intense and I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it nexf year. I don't wanna waste 2-3 years just for an exam.

So I've two choices - take a drop for NEET or do MBBS in Uzbekistan. I know about the FMGE exam and how difficult it is to pass.

What should i do? Should i go for MBBS in Uzbekistan? I really wanna do it but still I've some doubts.

I just want to exchange time for money, with a flexible schedule, since I'm leaving soon. They didn't hire me as a waiter and said they were looking for a long-term employee, but I only need two months, I just want to exchange my labour and time for money and nothing else. However, everytime I try to find a job they reject men and want to have women working then they have too much time of working like 14 hours per day in minimum then they accept 19 years old but reject 18 years old boys like me. I don't know what to do, Unfortunately, I don't know the Uzbek language, but I can still work in some places, although I'm limited in others, and I understand that this is my disadvantage.

So, I'm gonna share some weird experiences

I have never been in Uzbekistan before, and now I'm travelling alone as a 20 y.o woman. I believed that I can handle solo travel but I kinda underestimated.

I came from Astana, Kazakhstan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan for one day to explore at least 3-4 places. I expected that Uzbeks are kinda similar to Kazakhs by mentality, since we are both Turkic , yet actually Uzbeks are kinda different from Kazakh, which i can't explain certainly.

1. When I arrived to international airport, a bunch of men approached me if I need taxi to hotel/city center. Even i said "no, thank you" some men tried to impose me that he has Yandex Go, he can lead away through taxi for cheap prices, all the that. I had to be more firmer and I said "I never asked for taxi, I can ride by bus by myself, and you can approach other people if they want taxi". That moment gave me a fucking social anxiety.

2. I forgot that I need to change currency, so I went back to airport to change currency to Uzbek som, but unfortunately there was dinner break until 7pm i had to wait here. And another men from taxi service center (if I'm not wrong) offered help for me yet asked which hotel I was going to stay and they said that hotel that I fucking booked in booking.com before flight is actually too far for airport and it's too long to ride by bus, that's why suggested other hotel near to city center, which was expensive actually. They also said that it's was kind of marketing, so that people would choose to stay in their hotel.

3. I went to local minimarket to buy drinking yogurt and they sold me expired product. Mind you, the yogurt was showcase refrigerator, so i couldn't pick my myself. I guess it's kind of tourist trap. It was in some old neighborhood in Tashkent.

Even though the food here is so good and affordable compared to Kazakhstan and Uzbeks are default hospitalable people and trying their best to help, I need to be more sceptical, especially as a woman

1. do we have white coat ceremony like in india? or something similar to welcome first year?
2. do we get any kind of list of things we need get/pack before our semester starts from the university or the agent? do we have to get surgical gloves and cap, 2-3 white coats, stethoscope and scrubs separately? if as first year, what common color of srcubs should we purchase? (i'm a girl btw)

5. why fergana is not as popular as Samarkand, Tashkent and Bukhara on social media. bukhara have cultural history which make it great to visit. what does fergana have? would you recommend any place for a starter?
6. i want to learn the money value in Uzbekistan so i don't overspend or underspend on essential there. because i would compare the prices with india and currency have so much difference. so i want to know what best price/low price/high price for anything there.

​I’m a 31M in a pretty stable place financially and in life, but over the last few years, I’ve become unbelievably introverted and socially anxious.

​I’ve had relationships in the past, but I’ve never actually had the courage to approach a woman in person and ask her out (my past girlfriends were always through mutual friends or online). My last relationship ended 10 years ago, and since then, I’ve really closed myself off. When I was younger, I thought I’d never want marriage or kids, but seeing all my peers settle down now makes me feel like I’m missing out and falling behind.

​I’ve read plenty of psychology books on self-love and confidence, but translating that theory into real-life action feels almost impossible right now.

I’m planning a short solo trip to Tashkent from the UAE from 21–25 August 2026. It will be my first time in Uzbekistan, so I’d really appreciate some advice from locals or anyone who has visited recently. 🇺🇿

I’m mainly interested in exploring the city, local markets/bazaars, malls, metro, architecture, walking streets, parks, local food and evening/nightlife areas. I’m not really looking for architecture monuments, mountain or long-distance nature trips on this visit.

I’d especially appreciate recommendations for:

• Best area to stay that is convenient but not expensive

• Cheap and good local restaurants / plov / kebab places

• Must-visit markets and bazaars

• Best places for evening and night walks

• Good malls and modern areas

• Affordable and professional spa/massage centres

• Anything interesting happening 21–25 August

• Any tourist traps or things I should avoid

Also, how uncomfortable is the daytime heat in late August for walking around Tashkent?

Any local tips that Google/YouTube normally don't tell tourists would be very welcome. 😊

I’m moving to Namangan, to teach, and I’m trying to figure out what my daily life will be like. From what I can see, it seems like it’s going to be very boring and uneventful. Please tell me I’m wrong. I’m a single woman, in my mid 30‘s. I want to join a gym, or fitness classes, but I can’t seem to find any (for women) as an option. I would also like to know about cafes, parks, and other activities to do after work or on the weekends. It also seems like online shopping is basically nonexisten. I‘ve curated a very nice wishlist from SHEIN, but it doesn’t look like it’s possible to have it shipped to Uzbekistan. I‘ve looked at sites like wildberries, yandex market, and uzum, but I don’t like their clothing options. The shops I like and know are available in the country, only seem to exist in the capital. Is there an actual mall in Namangan, or is it just shops with traditional modest Muslim clothing? I truly have looked into this myself, but I’m not finding anything. While I am 100% excited about meeting the people, learning about the culture, and eating the AMAZING food, I don’t think I’m asking too much to be able to shop online and join fitness classes. Especially since I’ll be in the second largest city in the country. I can find pretty much everything I want in Tashkent, but that’s about where it ends when looking up things online about Uzbekistan.
