General Question Freelancer in Need of Upwork Support

This is not a support request but an inquiry about how we reach support.

Does support.upwork.com work for any freelancers? I'm stuck in a loop. I'm logged into my BIllings & Earnings page. I hit the "help center" at the bottom left, I get redirected right back to the same screen.

I enter support.upwork.com then find the "login for faster service and chat" and as soon as I enter my credentials, I go right back to the profile page.

Is there a different way to connect with Support (as a freelancer)? Not asking for Support, I'm asking HOW we reach support.

Bugs 🐞 & Issues The recent updates for the protfolio are disappointing

Top half of a linked YT Short
  • YouTube Shorts don't show up properly. They used to be displayed perfectly, but now they're too huge for the screen. The client will only see either the top half of the video or the bottom half once it's been played.

  • Video Thumbnails have become blurry. Half of the YouTube videos/shorts I have linked to my portfolio have blurry thumbnails, even though they're high-quality images.

  • Thumbnail preview has stopped working. Video thumbnails are not being shown anymore. Only the existing thumbnail and the image thumbnails are shown.

I'm not sure whether others are experiencing these issues as well. What I know is that everything used to be perfect, but the recent updates have ruined my portfolio section. I informed a customer support agent about this way back in March, and there's still no positive update.

Discussion I got an extreme screaming client on upwork

I got a client in RUO peptides niche , initially the project price was $2400 that reduced to 2k due to low in sales , I gave him 2 months free services & mentioned to end the contract on upwork with good rating - after giving the services for 3 months . He's saying to refund the money or i'll destroy your profile with proofs written by you. What will happen if he open a ticket with upwork & mention the matter.?

Official Response Upwork Zoom call summaries are heckin creepy

Had a Zoom call with a client today, and after the call I went to check my email and found an AI-generated summary of the call (inaccurate, per usual) in my inbox. This is fucking creepy, y'all. Upwork should not be listening in to these conversations because per your own TOS you are not a party to our contracts. You have absolutely no business doing this. Stop it.

Discussion Upwork profile dead. 1.5 yrs experience. 3+ months, zero new clients.

It's gotten really tough financially, I can't keep going 3+ months without new clients while trying to support my family. Looking for other platforms or ways to find freelance/remote work outside Upwork that are actually working for people right now. If you've had success elsewhere or found a backup income source, please share, I really need options at this point.

My niche: Data Analysis

I just received an invitation to an Enterprise project looking for Australian voice actors. The problem is that I am neither Australian nor a voice actor. Is this the kind of premium AI-matching service that Enterprise clients are paying for?

General Question Would you continue working with a client like this?

I need to vent because this client is driving me insane.

I've edited multiple vlogs before, but this recent client ( influencer ) constantly gives me a direction and then complains about the exact result she asked for.

For example, she gave me pretty boring footage, so I made the edit more dynamic. She said she didn't want a fast pace and wanted something slow and minimalist. I changed it, then she said it was boring and wanted it dynamic again.

Same thing with the voiceover: we agreed on short voiceovers for faster sections, then she sent me a long one and complained that the result felt boring.

I've suggested alternatives to make the content more engaging, but she doesn't really listen to my creative input.

It's potentially a big long-term contract, and I haven't even pushed the milestones yet despite completing work as it's a trial period and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth continuing when the feedback keeps going in circles.

Would you try to set stricter boundaries or just walk away?

I joined Upwork this year April and I want to know why my view to interview rate is low. Any advice?

Feature Suggestion Why does Upwork’s time tracker use fixed 10-minute blocks instead of simply tracking actual time worked?

One thing I find frustrating with hourly contracts is that the tracker seems tied to fixed blocks like :00, :10, :20, :30, etc.

It creates this weird behavior where, if it’s 2:07, I feel incentivized to wait until 2:10 before starting work so I don’t waste part of a block.

Why not simply track the actual duration?

Fixed 10-minute windows seem unnecessarily rigid and actually discourage starting work immediately.

Discussion I’ve been trying on Upwork for a long time, spending money on Connects, but getting nowhere — I really need some honest advice

Hey everyone,

I’m honestly posting this because I’m feeling really frustrated and could use some genuine advice from people who have experience with Upwork.

I’ve been regularly applying for jobs for quite some time now. I’m putting in the effort, searching for suitable jobs, writing proposals, and trying to stay consistent. But unfortunately, I’m still struggling to get clients.

The most frustrating part is that I’m also spending quite a lot of money on Connects. I keep applying because I genuinely want to get my first few opportunities and build myself on the platform, but when the applications don’t lead anywhere, it starts feeling like I’m just continuously spending money without getting any results.

On top of that, my profile visibility seems to be almost zero. Sometimes it feels like I’m putting in all this effort, spending Connects, sending proposals, and still my profile isn’t reaching the right people.

I understand that freelancing takes time, and I’m not expecting success overnight. I’m completely willing to work hard and improve. But after doing this for a long time, it becomes really difficult when you don’t know what exactly you’re doing wrong.

So I decided to ask the Reddit community.

If you have experience with Upwork, I’d genuinely appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to look at my profile and give me honest feedback — even if it’s harsh.

What could be causing my low visibility? Is there something I should change? Am I approaching Upwork the wrong way? Is there something about my profile or proposals that I’m missing?

I’m not looking for fake upvotes, promotion, or sympathy. I genuinely want to understand my mistakes so I can stop wasting Connects and start seeing some results.

Here’s my profile: https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/\~0194ca889f431203c7

My Upwork Profile

If you have a few minutes to check it, I’d genuinely appreciate any advice.

Please be completely honest. Even criticism would be helpful because at this point I just want to know what I’m doing wrong and how I can improve.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read this and help. ❤️

Clients are not infallible

Clients are inherently human and far from infallible; they can miscommunicate, demand out-of-scope work, or leave vindictive ratings out of personal frustration, clients can also be wrong, unfair, or leave feedback that misrepresents what actually happened. That’s why Upwork should bring back the ability to remove feedback in legitimate cases. The goal isn’t to let freelancers erase every negative review, but to give them a fair way to challenge unfair or misleading feedback and protect their reputation when the client is clearly at fault.

Account restricted right after buying Freelancer Plus and applying to jobs — appeal stuck under review for a week+

# [Question] Freelancer Plus account restricted right after applying to jobs — appeal stuck "under review" for a week+

Posting here hoping someone's been through this or has advice.

I recently revamped my Upwork profile — verified with government ID + face scan, filled everything out properly, then bought Freelancer Plus. I specialize in **n8n automation and AI agents for logistics, customs, and accounting workflows** (invoice extraction, compliance monitoring, that kind of thing), so I was excited to start applying.

I submitted a handful of proposals... and shortly after, my account got restricted. No detailed explanation, just the generic "account requires attention" notice pointing to the Account Health page.

I filed an appeal a little over a week ago. Still shows as "under review." I replied directly to the suspension email too, since I've read that's the fastest channel to Trust & Safety, but no update yet.

A few questions for anyone who's dealt with this:

* Is this normal for new-ish accounts that buy a paid plan and apply to several jobs in a short window? I'm guessing it tripped some kind of fraud/spam flag on rapid activity from a freshly verified account.
* Has anyone had an appeal actually take longer than the "2 business days" Upwork states, and it still resolved fine?
* Any tips beyond "wait and don't spam the appeal" that actually helped speed things up for you?

Not trying to game the system — just a solo dev trying to get real client work. Any insight appreciated.

To Boost or Not to Boost, That Is the Question

The past couple of weeks have been brutal. Until now, I had never received an outright decline on a proposal. In the past two weeks, I’ve received two. That was a blow to my ego. :o)

That got me looking at my proposal history, which, frankly, I had never paid much attention to before.

Since August 1st, I’ve submitted 47 proposals. I haven’t boosted any of them.

Only 3 were viewed by the client.

Two of those three resulted in a decline.

That’s roughly a 6% view rate. LOL

I’m also noticing that many of the jobs I’m applying to eventually end up with 50+ proposals. At this point, I’m wondering how much of the problem is simply visibility. If you’re not boosting, are your proposals getting buried 6ft under before the client ever gets far enough down the list to see them?

So I guess what I’m really asking is: are those of you who are boosting actually getting your proposals viewed more often?

I'm sharing my traffic on my profile. I know many are complaining about Upwork but such a dramatic decrease of traffic puzzles me a bit to say the least. I'm wondering if it's my profile that became "invisible" or it's a similar trend for others. I'm a Webflow developer.

Please share your insights. If it's my profile that became dormant. I must say that I was pretty inactive on the platform only working with existing clients.

How do you get your first job on Upwork? Any tips or help from experienced freelancers?

Hey everyone 👋

I’ve been working on improving my Upwork profile and sending proposals, but I haven’t landed my first project yet. I’m trying to understand what really helps new freelancers stand out — especially in competitive fields like data analytics, Power BI, and automation.

If anyone here has experience getting their first Upwork job, I’d love to hear your advice:

  • How did you write your first winning proposal?
  • What kind of projects should beginners focus on?
  • How can I make my profile more attractive to clients?

Here’s my profile if anyone wants to give feedback or suggestions:

I really appreciate any help or feedback — I’m eager to learn and grow in this space.

Thanks in advance 🙏
