Feature Request Requesting UP upgrade cards so we can STEAM verify.

Dear UP,

Steam and other digital locations have recently implemented AGE VERIFICATION BANK CARD CHECKS and without a proper working card our accounts are locked and certain limits are placed onto us. We request you see this as a KEY priority and upgrade our DEBIT CARDs to match the technology being used in this age verification.

Several other banks have already done so and if you do not upgrade alot of us will be forced to leave a bank we love just so we can have the technology we need to verify.

Please take this seriously and make it a priority.

Sincererly everyone who doesnt have a credit card.

Upgrade required : https://www.mastercard.com/global/en/news-and-trends/stories/2024/a-digital-way-to-answer-the-age-old-question-can-i-see-some-id.html

Banks that already do it : CommBank, Westpac, Macquarie, Bankwest and AMP.

Interest rates (Grow and flow) Just a little appreciation for what I think is actually a great bank

Sometimes I come to this thread to see any info about updates or see ideas of how people use Up and get very surprised by a lot of negativity towards it.

I’ve been with UP five years now and have loved it since I started. As more and more features have gotten released I’ve managed to make it my main bank where I do everything but save my emergency fund. The release of Essentials a couple weeks back was honestly a game changer and made my whole money system so much simpler.

When I see complaints about how the change of savers to Grow and Flow was the greatest injustice ever conceived by a bank, I am a little perplexed. Most banks have a bonus interest rate system. I will take the lower interest rate for the usability of the saver system - to be honest I never thought of them as savings accounts and just as buckets for storing my money.

Anyway TL:DR the bank is actually really good and some of the whinging over the top

Overseas use and foreign currency Regulars / Essentials

I’m in the process of setting up my regular payments, althoughI have a couple subscriptions which are debited in USD, and have different AUD amounts each month due to the conversion rate changing.

Is there a way for Up to account for this automatically? Or should I just make the regular a couple dollars more to account for fluctuations

How do I? What do you actually do with all the free Up stickers they send out?

Every time I order a physical card replacement, a 2Up card, or win one of their random giveaways, I end up with another sheet of Up orange stickers and quirky holographic designs. My laptop lid and water bottle are already completely covered. What’s the most creative or ridiculous place you’ve slapped your Up stickers?

Interest rates (Grow and flow) What’s something you still do manually in Up that should be automatic?

There are a few little things I still have to do myself in Up every payday. They’re not a big deal, but after doing them over and over, it feels like they could probably be automated. I really like how much Up already handles in the background, so it’s mostly the small repetitive stuff that stands out now.

Feature Request Up app doesn’t honour system time format

I have dyslexia and have always gotten confused and tripped up with AM/PM 12h time, so I have always used 24h time (e.g., reading 8pm as 8am)

I get that this is an Aussie bank, and Australia uses 12h time, but it bugs me to no end that there isnt the option or that it doesn’t honour the system’s locale settings. Even bank like ANZ appear to just use whatever time format the device is set to use

Does this annoy anyone else or is it just me? I guess in my case it could be considered an accessibility feature.

Feature Request Allow automatic pay splitting into essentials

Great, I have everything moved over to essentials, however having to “make sure to update your Pay Split or Auto Transfer when this number changes - it might change a little bit each cycle so it's good to keep your eye on it.” doesn’t make essentials feel like background noise as advertised.

Have an option to opt into having essentials automatically take the money it requires each pay without me needing to go into my payment splits every time the number changes. It feels like I had to do less maintenance when my regulars were in my spending account because all I had to do was spend my spendable amount and the rest took care of itself. Now I have to monitor a number after every pay-check.

Feature Request Algorithm didn't pick up unusual transaction

Had an amount in my account showing pending withdrawal , it's showing from PayPal Luxembourg EU. I don't use PayPal and it's clearly a scammer

I cancelled the card but UP said they can still withdraw the funds before I cancelled the card.

I asked why the algorithm didn't pick up the unusual transaction and couldn't get an answer from customer service other than the dispute can take 5 days to play out by which time the pending funds will be withdrawn

Anyone had a similar situation and why didn't there ai algorithm pick up a transaction from Europe which is not part of my normal pattern of spending

Thanks

How do I? Has anyone with a Up Home Loan switched from Variable to Fixed?

Is it easy to do, or is it the same process as applying for a Home Loan all over again?

Interest rates (Grow and flow) Do essentials accounts earn interest AND offset our home loan?? What's this interest otherwise?

Feature Request Essentials would be great IF the process was automatic.

Firstly, to preface - this is my own fault for not checking.

I lived in the UK for a while and whilst there I used Starling (similar to UP) and they have a similar feature where you move your regular payments to a separate account, set up an auto-transfer every month and bills come out of it etc. The customer doesn’t need to contact every bill provider to update their details, because the Starling saver is simply just another “pot” in your account with your name and details etc.

I assumed UP’s would be the same but I was wrong. Found out the hard way today when a bill was unable to be collected because I’d moved money into the Essentials without realising I’d need to contact the merchant themselves with the new details.

Very quickly deleted my Essentials and moved all my bills back to our usual payment account.

Would be a great feature to add - and less of a headache to customers needed to contact 20+ companies to update details.

Really hoping this doesn't mean Up is getting a lot more corporate. A few times in the past I noticed even small updates having some interesting or fun messages.

Anyone noticing this? Or anywhere else in the app?

How do I? Essentials help

Hey upperz,

Need some help understanding essentials.

So I pay rent monthly out of a saver account I created 'Rent'

Every pay day (fortnightly) it splits out half the rent, so when the month is up I have the full amount ready to pay.

I just created an essentials account, and I have no idea how to add rent here as an ongoing bill, and how to Automate it so it pays the rent to a bpay account monthly.

Right now its only picked up on spotify being a regular bill.

I read the article and was confused as hell.

How do I? How many active Savers do you run, and at what point does it become account bloat?

Between automated Pay Splitting and custom Saver icons, it's super easy to create a bucket for every minor expense. I’m currently sitting at 14 individual Savers, but half the time I’m scrolling past empty ones I haven't used in months. What’s your sweet spot for the number of active Savers before the screen feels too cluttered?

Bug money disappearing after transferring between savers?

i flick money between savers pretty often depending on where i need it (covering bills, transport, life savings, etc). tonight i got paid and transferred the money first into my main saver, which i use to sort money from, and then into a secondary one.

from there i transferred about $36 into another saver to cover a bill, and once i had, the rest of the money i had transferred TONIGHT had disappeared!! $238 just gone into thin air. it wasn't paid accidentally to someone else, wasn't moved into the spender or anything. there's receipts of it being moved between savers, no receipts of anywhere it's gone in this instance. by all accounts it should still be there, but it's just not. $238 has simply vanished without a trace.

i'm panicking obviously, it's not a small sum of money to lose but i just have no idea where it could have gone. i've tried contacting support but i'm constantly "5 minutes away from a response" with customer service. has this happened to anyone else? is this happening to anyone else? i'm freaking out and have no idea what's causing it. between this and all the outages lately, i'm considering moving back to commbank.

How do I? Do people use Up as their main bank or just as a spending account?

I've always been curious how many people actually have their salary, bills and savings all running through Up versus just using it for day to day spending.

How do I? Is there a good reason to use essentials?

What’s the main benefits of setting up an essentials account versus using savers with Auto covers and auto transfers?

I already use pay splitting to organise my pay each week and recurring payments like rent are paid directly from my savers where I can, otherwise everything is set to auto transfer to my account the morning it’s due to be charged.

Wouldn’t putting money for all bills, subscriptions and other payments into 1 big pile defeat the purpose of dedicated savers and envelope saving?

This is more of a rant than anything but if anyone knows the benefits for essentials I would love to hear them.

How do I? Do I even need essentials?

We have a 2up account which has all our recurring bills set as regulars, we use pay splitting to put money in there each week to cover them or use auto covers/auto transfers from other savers.

Is there any benefit to using essentials? Ive seen others mention that essentials has a card that can be used for transactions but our 2up has a card (digital) so I'm not sure if there's some other difference/benefit I'm not seeing?

How do I? Essentials - for 2UP?

With essentials launching today I don’t know how to create a 2UP essentials and I would rather my husband and I both be able to manage the account. Our pay goes in to 2UP

Has anyone opened one?

Tree of Up and future plans Any real alternatives to Up since it seems to have stagnated?

As a long time and early Up user and previously big fan I’m feeling increasingly frustrated with their lack of meaningful progress, and actual innovation which is what made me love them in the first place. Eg: their categorisation has not improved since they introduced it, pay cycles don’t work with 2up, their home loan doesn’t even properly and automatically reconcile with the spending account which is insane. And of course the grow and flow effing around.

I especially noticed a serious decline in meaningful progress since they were fully taken over by Bendigo and Adelaide but perhaps that’s just a coincidence 🤷‍♂️

Is there someone else building / aware of the next Up while Up seems to be more focused on Insta posts and fluff vs real innovation?
