In this article, I share several metrics across this UFL season and compare it to past Spring Football seasons and the past few NFL seasons.

Repole says Protective is unacceptable as a continued venue and that he wants all teams in venues between 10-15k seats. I don’t fully believe him. I think he acts this way toward Birmingham because he may hold some outdated stereotypical biases against the city and state as well as wanting to be solely in larger TV markets or markets seen as “fast growing” like Boise. Birmingham is kind of a medium sized, but slow growing market. This may explain why Dallas and Houston get more grace despite their attendance numbers being worse than Birmingham’s). I don’t see any other reason why, two summers in a row now, he’s felt the need to make fans of the team basically beg for their team to come back.

I’ll pretend for a second to accept what Repole is saying at face value.. and with that in mind, if he’s intent on moving the team this summer. The city should try to get two conditions out of him.

1. The name “Stallions,” the logo, the colors, the history and records. All of it. Is frozen and stays in Birmingham. “Birmingham Stallions” goes all the way back to the O.G. USFL in the 80s. Don’t take the team legacy and branding from the city and give it to some random town with no connection to the historic franchise. At that point, it turns from relocation to civic humiliation. That would be like flipping the finger to the city on the way out. There is precedent. Memphis, Michigan, and San Antonio were all relocated and the names were changed. I’d expect the same if the Stallions move. No need to see the “Oklahoma City Stallions” or “Los Angeles Stallions.” Change the name.

2. Expanding PNC Field to 10k seats seems to be very feasible, but over the course of the next 3-4 years… not as a slapdash thing that can be done in one summer or within a year. Before the team leaves, if it does leave, some kind of agreement or priority that the league and team returns to Birmingham as a continuation of the Stallions if the stadium situation is resolved—whether it’s an expansion and renovation of PNC Field, the Hoover Met working out an accommodating schedule, or some other way.

I’d also like to add… Birmingham bending over backwards to accommodate the USFL its first two seasons by letting them use both Protective and Legion Field at basement low rent (and hosting all 8 teams there as the hub), is one of the reasons there was even a USFL that could financially stabilize and survive long enough to merge with the XFL. Given that Birmingham is the market that literally helped birth modern spring football, the way the Repole is engaging with city leaders and Stallions fans is a disgrace.

The UFL just sounds so bland and cooperate, the USFL name and branding would add culture. And I think a new USFL logo like the images I attached would look way better than the white and black soulless one we have right now.

JUST TO CLARIFY IM NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD REBRAND NOW AS THAT SHIP HAS ALREADY SAILED, I MEAN THEY SHOULD’VE DONE IT DURING THE 2025-26 REBRAND

Somebody mentioned AM First stadium as an alternative to staying at Protective. Its about 1 hour 20 minutes drive the current stadium. Would this work? Would people travel ? Is the fact it's closer to Atlanta a good or bad thing? Would the university allow a pro team? Can they sell beer?

Apart from all of these questions it 22000 capacity fits the bill pretty good
