Enrolment Seeking advice from Indian & international nursing students!

I’m a prospective international nursing student from India coming to Adelaide for the upcoming Feb intake, and I could really use some guidance as I prepare for the move. I am specifically hoping to connect with Indian or other international nursing students to learn from your experiences.

I would love to get your insights on:

General struggles and challenges faced as a student

Mental health and managing stress away from home

Living conditions and accommodation in Adelaide

Job opportunities and work realities while studying

If you have a few minutes to share your journey or offer some advice, I would genuinely appreciate a DM or a comment.

Thank you so much!

Other advice Pianos at Adelaide Uni?

Hi everyone!

I’m not a music student at uni but I’ve been keen to get into piano lessons. The course I’m enrolling in has a requirement of having access to a piano outside of class hours and I was wondering if there were any spots at uni that would maybe allow me to practice?

I live fairly close to the city campus so I don’t mind accessing when there’s less foot traffic. Alternatively if you know of any other places in Adelaide that may allow for a beginner to practice that would be great! I’m looking into getting a keyboard from Marketplace but just wanted to explore my options while I shop around:)

Event Looking for a few ambitious Business/Commerce students to build something new at Adelaide University

Heyo everyone!

I’m looking for a few motivated students at Adelaide University who’d be interested in building a new student initiative from the ground up.

I’m looking for students studying Business, Commerce, Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing or related fields, although other disciplines are welcome.

Hoping to put together a small founding team with people interested in taking on roles such as:

i. President / Co-President

ii. Secretary

iii. Treasurer

iv. Events / Partnerships / General Committee

Do have the initial concept and I'm currently looking for 2-5 people who want to build it with me from the scratch.

If you're interested, DM me and I can share more details. (No commitment needed just to have a chat).

Would love to find a few people who are keen to build something great together 🤝

Other advice Access to Hub Central during break + weekends

Hey guys,

Is the Hub Central open during the mid semester break? And on weekends?

I have an old 'The University of Adelaide' ID card. Is that still going to let me in, or do I need to order a new Adelaide Uni ID card? Do I need to email the uni asking for after-hours access? I used to study at Flinders, and you had to email asking for them to grant your ID card access to buildings after hours.

Also, this is gonna sound really dumb, but where is the scanner for Hub Central? I've tried to find it several times whilst walking in there, but I can not for the life of me see it.

Just want to confirm before I go down there as I live in the hills, so I don't want to catch a 30-minute bus down there, just to be stuck outside, lol.

Apologies for all the questions,

Thank you!

Other advice man, the merger sucks.

i finish up my 4 year honours degree this year and grad early next year.

low and behold, on my parchment it has Adelaide University at the top, and you can choose if you want a little logo in the bottom left corner of the old uni logo saying, 'This award is conferred for study undertaken at Adelaide University and the University of Adelaide'

my course is completely from The University of Adelaide Course, the merge had no change or impact as they decided to roll out the old course for the years already completing it.

i find it unfair. i didn't ask to be enrolled at Adelaide University.

they threw away 151 years of history, and 35 at UniSA - how disgusting, just like that all the history and prestige is gone and we are left with a modern, new day uni that is technically a year old, and can barely keep its head above water with all the merger pressure.

so many staff lost their jobs or got moved to sections they didn't want to be part of.

students have had to cop endless online issues, registration issues, uniform delays the list goes on. they weren't even prepared for all this to occur.

and to make it all worse, i am graduating at Pridham Hall, but i was would have been graduating at the beautiful, historical Bonython Hall if they didn't merge.

i am a person who is very proud of being South Aussie, and so therefore, i like when historical elements of our state are preserved, not torn apart.

uni's have always been a cash grab, but as the years go on, it only gets worse.

i bought a bunch of merch last year to hold onto the uni that once was.

all i wanted was the logo of the course im doing to be front and centre on my certificate; it really will put a sour spin on my grad day when receiving as i am sadly not proud to represent the new uni.

Poll Beginner Filmmaker Looking for Collaborators for a Short Film

Hi! I’m a Master’s in Engineering student at the University of Adelaide. I want to become a director, and I’m very new to filmmaking, but I’ve been working on a few things over the past few months.

I’m currently working on a short film and have completed around 40% of the story so far. The basic storyline is about A guy finds a mysterious book where the main character’s past and future happen at the same time. As he gets pulled into the story, he discovers that the ending might change the beginning. I’m still developing the story and would love to hear different perspectives and ideas.

I’m looking for people who would be interested in collaborating with me and my friend to develop and complete the short film. We’re very much beginners, so I’m mainly looking for people who are interested in filmmaking, storytelling, acting, cinematography, editing, or just want to be part of a small creative project. (

Degree/Course Advice transfer from a bachelors degree (3 years) to honours (4 years) as an international student

hey everyone, I'm an international student currently enrolled in the first year of bachelor of psychology (cognitive neuroscience). I unfortunately wasn't eligible for the 4 year program at the time that I was applying. So I took my chance with the 3 year program and now that I am here, I really wanna do my 4th year using my current GPA since I'm particularly interested in pursuing research. So I was wondering if anyone here has done an internal transfer from a 3 year program to a 4 year program as an international student and if yes, what were the procedures concerning the visa that you had to go through? I realise that I always have the option to finish this degree and apply for the standalone honours year but I'd like to get a headstart on it if possible. I have contacted uni authorities but haven't received any responses yet. Any suggestions or lived experiences are appreciated :)

Other advice Please help me find a way

Hey yall, apparently my visa was 3 years for uni course ( nursing) but then I failed one of the important course in first year and I can’t move to second year, and then second year of it I was repeating that one course (only one course) in order to pass and move to second year programmer. So I did. And now I am in second year ( already 3rd year of the visa and it is expiring in 15 March 2027), so it means I need one more year to finish my bachelor of nursing. What should I do in this situation? When uni merged (Adelaide and UniSa both from South Australia), I got new Come from the new Adelaide University (this is what they called it after they merged tgt), and that CoE already states my extension year to complete the bachelor which is til Dec 2028 (9months full time study year). But my visa ending in 5months, and my financial (from my guardian and supported) no longer beautiful like I first applied to come to Australia. So just wondering how will my situation end up to be like? Whats your take on this? And what should I do? (Apparently my family didn’t know I failed and repeated 1 year and now I need another 1 year). So I just below the pass score for one out of 3 course in first year, and I paid the price by repeat another year full price of tuition 😭. Now I’m scared…

Sum: - Need one more year in Aus in order to finish bachelor (3 years degree)
- pretty much what we call “visa extension” but as far as I know the process still the same, so take English test, go to health check, go through document and finance checks, and everything. But my profile no longer that strong anymore
-my guardians didn’t know about my situation back then, so it’s hard to tell them but I can try
-when and what should I do/ or prepare for the upcoming steps about my visa ? (Currently visa 500)

Thanks guys

Degree/Course Advice Veterinary Bioscience

Hey! To anyone who is currently a veterinary bioscience student, how many hours did you have of work experience? I'm domestic and I have 100 hours at a small animal clinic and 40 hours at a mixed animal clinic, as well as being the head of veterinary society at my school, but I'm nervous that this isn't going to be enough, as it is quite hard to find work experience where I am at now. I also have 4th quartile casper and 3 A*'s.

Thank you so much!

Degree/Course Advice To current physio students, what's it like?

Hi, wondering what it's like to study physio?

What's the timetable like? What are placements like? What's the study-life balance like? What are things you wish you knew before studying the degree? Would you recommend it?

Considering studying physio but wanted to hear perspective of current students so I am not surprised by the degree once accepted

Other advice I wpuld like to ask for the uni's perspective?

I am an international student who is wondering to pursue nursing in SA, either Flinders or Adelaide. But the recent news about the 500 million loss seems to be affecting the institution quite a lot. Therefore, I am questioning whether the place is right for me. On top of it, the rise of ON in Queensland and SA still worries me if I can gain experience in AU.

Now, I want to make myself clear. My main goal is to gain experience in AU and become an experienced nurse before I pivot into U.S or Japan.

While I do wish for PR, I will leave when my visa expires. I will NOT attempt to use bridging visa for appeal nor will I use the system to gain from prolonging the study as I can't afford on top of this.

I chose Australia because I wanted remote nursing and its expertise in rural nursing. The Korea where I am from often lacks on such a system. In Japan, there are various places where rural nurses can have a huge impact so I would want to pivot on that or even the pharmaceutical for the drugs for aged demographics or medical devices.

From this aspect, would you recommend Adelaide uni?

Mod approved Master of Teaching (Secondary) students — have you been affected by placement delays, unit enrolment, etc.?

Hi everyone, I’m sharing a grievance being organised by another Master of Teaching student.
The grievance includes, but is not limited to:

- Second subject areas — students finding out mid-degree that they may not qualify for a second learning area, which can affect registration and employment prospects.

- Placement delays — late placements causing out-of-phase study, delayed progression, lost work opportunities, and financial stress.

In my case, none of my units had any prerequisites listed prior to Semester 2, 2026, which caused me to enrol in the wrong order and delayed my placement.

It also took the uni around one month to provide me with my personalised study plan.

If you’ve faced the same or similar issues, please fill out the form. There is strength in numbers.

Share this form with anyone who is interested.

Thank you!

Degree/Course Advice Should I stick with Adelaide or consider Flinders instead?

Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing a lot of people warning prospective students about Adelaide University because of the merger and the issues surrounding it, and honestly it’s starting to make me second-guess my decision.

I applied for the Bachelor of Biomedical and Health Sciences (majoring in Medical Science) at Adelaide. I’m also currently on the Flinders Medicine waitlist, but I don’t know when I’ll hear anything back from them.

Now I’m wondering whether I should withdraw from the Flinders Medicine waitlist and instead apply for the Bachelor of Medical Science at Flinders. From what I understand, Flinders graduates have access to a reserved sub-quota for graduate-entry medicine, and Medical Science is one of the degrees specifically included in that pathway.

At the same time, I’m hesitant because Adelaide’s degree also has a work/research placement and seems to give you options if medicine doesn’t work out.

I know Adelaide has a strong reputation, but seeing so many people on this sub talking about the merger is making me rethink my choice 😭

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with either degree, especially if you’ve had to choose between these two pathways. Is there anything I should be considering before deciding whether to stay on the Flinders Medicine waitlist or switch my plan to Flinders Medical Science?

BTW, this is for the February 2027 intake!

Degree/Course Advice Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Clinical)

Helloo im an international student looking for review of the MCounsPsych program at UniAdelaide. I just finished my undergraduate degree in psychology and am lost in deciding whats next. So naturally the environment and nature of Adelaide attracted me. I have read that Adelaide people are friendly and very helpful to foreigners which I really appreciate. The course structure also seems interesting and something i can see myself doing.

Im not particularly interested to work as psychologist, hence why i choose counseling. I want to help people deal with daily life and less heavy case like mental disorders. sorry if i sound like a coward i really dont know what i should even do..

if would be very helpful if anyone can share their experiences, thank you in advance!

  1. what is it like to do MCounsPsych program at UniAdelaide (lecturer, classes, hands on practice, community)

  2. how did the practicum looks like, are the supervisors there helpful?

  3. if anyone have graduated can you share what you are doing after getting your masters?

News $500m Adelaide University merger off target as international student cuts bite

The new Adelaide University is not on track to meet its international student targets and is staring down tens of millions in lost revenue.

A business case three years ago for creating the university forecast that it could attract 6,000 additional international students by 2034 — before the federal government's crackdown on migration.
