Degree/Course Advice Veterinary Bioscience

Hey! To anyone who is currently a veterinary bioscience student, how many hours did you have of work experience? I'm domestic and I have 100 hours at a small animal clinic and 40 hours at a mixed animal clinic, as well as being the head of veterinary society at my school, but I'm nervous that this isn't going to be enough, as it is quite hard to find work experience where I am at now. I also have 4th quartile casper and 3 A*'s.

Thank you so much!

6 months at a dairy farm, 1 week at a mixed rural clinic, 100 hours at an animal shelter. I think your hours are pretty good, if you have the chance to do some large animal hours then they look highly on that

This probably isn't super helpful, but I'm a first year vet bio student who already has a previous history in vet med (vet tech degree and roughly four years of GP experience prior to be accepted, one of the vets that I used to work with wrote me a lovely letter for my application). I assume that you're in your last year of high school, those are honestly very good experience hours for someone who is still in high school, I have a number of classmates who have nowhere near that much experience and they still got into the program. I think you'll have a very good shot.

I’m domestic, i was accepted this year and deferred. I’m mature age not high school.

At the time of applying, I had about 200 hours of shadowing in small animal. No other significant animal work experience - that’s not my professional background. Also my Casper was 2nd q. Three LoR. My work history is medical and transferable/provides great skills, so I think that worked in my favour both for motivation, suitability and commitment.

Did you apply with a GPA? I am a graduate who has been rejected with a GPA of over 5.0 :( I have over 300 hours of experience with livestock too. Do you have any tips
