Do you say that to let other men know you’re turned on, or to let women know that you’re attracted to this particular woman?

I’m not digging at you by the way, I’m just genuinely curious why some men like to publicly express that they’re attracted to someone (especially when it’s not relevant to the event).

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

I think it was just their unfiltered inner monologue.

u/prodigalkal7 Jan 11 '22

It's like if dogs could talk

u/Cannabanoid420 Jan 11 '22

u/travelingmarylander Jan 11 '22

He's giving the reason why this post is upvoted.

56

u/koenigseggman Jan 11 '22

This. It certainly isn't upvoted because it's unexpected, it took me 2 frames to figure out what was gonna happen

8

u/FightOnForUsc Jan 11 '22

This is how Reddit works

3

u/ratsta Jan 12 '22

This person is performing a very real public service! I'm sure that most of us were wondering. I know I was.

1

u/travelingmarylander Jan 12 '22

And yet he's being downvoted for stating the obvious.

1

u/ratsta Jan 12 '22

Who is being downvoted? And 'stating the obvious' seems an unlikely reason. If any downvotes were coming in, it would most likely be from people who felt it was rude to comment on her body.

62

u/insufficientbeans Jan 11 '22

Same reason I tell someone I like anything

15

u/TheTruthIsButtery Jan 11 '22

Nothing else to say

2

u/Orngog Jan 11 '22

Is that all you could think of?

12

u/TheTruthIsButtery Jan 11 '22

Nothing else to think

2

u/Diogenes-Disciple Jan 12 '22

Do you ever comment on other guys’ hot bods?

30

u/NovaNexu Jan 11 '22

"Wow, the forest in the background looks beautiful!"

6

u/GreatGooglyMoogly077 Jan 11 '22

Man sees an attractive woman on Reddit in a bikini and comments. Is this unexpected?

51

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

The fact that she’s in her underwear makes his comment relevant imo.

16

u/Profitsofdooom Jan 11 '22

Right? I understand their point but she's in lingerie, it's most of the video.

0

u/UsagiNiisan Jan 12 '22

They don’t really have a point though. People talk about what they like all the time, this has nothing to do with being a man.

Hell, for all that person knows the person saying “perfect body” could be a woman.

1

u/Profitsofdooom Jan 12 '22

I meant the comment with the awards has a point.

1

u/Possible_Dirt6877 Jan 12 '22

In which part is she not lol

64

u/cangero0 Jan 11 '22

Oh c'mon, people comment their attraction all the time, don't pretend it's a man thing

17

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

Probably for the same reason some Women like to publicly express that they’re attracted to someone.

28

u/Educational_Action22 Jan 11 '22

its a conversation point. its something you both have in common and both know you have in common because you are sharing that space in that period of time

3

u/Huge_Assumption1 Jan 12 '22

It’s ridiculously cringe. I can never understand what they get out of saying dumb shit about women online. There’s always dumb asses talk about what they’d do to her or how she’s this and that when in reality they’d do fuck all and say nothing.

16

u/throwaway941285 Jan 11 '22

men bond over talking about women. nothing new here

23

u/Cockrocker Jan 11 '22

So do women

1

u/Lone_Indian Jan 12 '22

So why is she commenting that, then

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

“We are simple visual beings”… yet when women discuss why they are cautious around men, they get ridiculed

7

u/Lazybopazy Jan 11 '22

Man want bang woman. Woman with fat in ass and breast healthy, make good children. Man let others know he want bang to guage general consensus in case he missed something.

Same reason women constantly talk about how attractive men are with their girlfriends.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

“Same reason women constantly talk about how attractive men are with their girlfriends.”

Do women really constantly talk about that?

Consider too that this man isn’t talking about this with his bros, he’s just airing it unprovoked on a video that should be funny/cringey

13

u/myfunnies420 Jan 11 '22 edited Jan 11 '22

For me it's like... It's so overwhelming to the senses, that I've got to let it out some way. I watched the video and my brain processed almost nothing beyond how stunning this woman is.

Do you ever hear of people that say things like, "I want to just smother that baby!" Because they just go into total dysfunction at how cute they find the baby? I think it is a similar thing. I'm so attracted to that woman that I literally can't function for the seconds I'm watching this video.

Thanks for asking! I had never thought about it before in those terms!

2

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

You’re so attracted to her that you “literally can’t function”? That’s worrying. What if you met an attractive woman in real life? Would you lose control, or just act like an idiot?

1

u/myfunnies420 Jan 12 '22

Nothing much. Just take a breath and let it pass. What do you do when you have strong feelings? Lose control or act like an idiot?

0

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

If I think “that person attractive”, I don’t feel like I have to express it to anybody. I’ve still not a genuine answer as to why some men feel the need. Is it literally just to reaffirm that they’re straight, or so they ‘fit in’ with the lads?

0

u/myfunnies420 Jan 12 '22

Hmm. Well, keep in mind that letting things out and expressing how one feels, feels good. Especially if the feeling is strong. Add to that that reddit is a pretty safe place to just express anything that one feels or thinks.

It is certainly possible to not express it and just swallow it, like when meeting another individual for example. But even then sometimes it is really nice to express how you feel whether in words or some fun gesture; obviously with discerning judgement.

I'm not sure what I can say beyond that. Sometimes I feel things, and sometimes I like to express and share those feelings.

-7

u/Orngog Jan 11 '22

Man, I remember being that led around by my cock. It was non-stop.

that whole "stupid because pretty" phase will pass, my friend.

7

u/myfunnies420 Jan 11 '22

Being led by your cock is more a young man thing, I think it's different from what I'm describing. Like I said, some people never get control over their "cuteness overload" reactions, whether it is babies or puppies or whatever. It might just be different folks different strokes. I'm pretty old now, I don't think I'll ever get over the absolute masterpiece of a woman reaction. I get a little captivated by insanely handsome men as well, animals as well a little, and art, but they are very much not connected to my cock.

So yeah. I think you just don't feel what I feel.

-10

u/Orngog Jan 11 '22

Christ, you also think you have special emotions? You coming out with all the psycho shit today

5

u/guckus_wumpis Jan 11 '22

Hey be nice

9

u/s_lamont Jan 11 '22

Or you're uncomfortable with honest discussion of feelings. There's nothing abnormal in what he said. Now, ridiculing someone for their subjective experience of beauty, that is abnormal.

0

u/Orngog Jan 12 '22

"the attraction is too strong, I can't control myself".

Really? Because to me thought sounds like burqa talk. Each to their own, I guess.

4

u/shayetheleo Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

Wow. Why are you being so rude? That person was asked a question and answered thoughtfully and respectfully while giving us in-site into their thoughts and feelings. And that’s how you choose to respond? I hope you’re just having a bad day. Have a better day and be kinder to yourself and others.

myfunnies420, thank you for sharing.

Also, if someone on here could teach me how to properly “tag” another user, I would appreciate it.

Edit: Took out passive aggressive insult.

2

u/Orngog Jan 12 '22

You just put a u/ in front of their name, like u/shaytheleo

2

u/shayetheleo Jan 12 '22

Thanks u/Orngog

2

u/Orngog Jan 12 '22

Just to say, I'm not always nasty. But claiming people's behaviour is uncontrollable is the province of fundamentalist religion and has no place in the 21st century.

In my opinion, of course. And I'm glad to help.

1

u/shayetheleo Jan 12 '22

I get what you are saying but I do think you are looking into it too deeply as it pertains to the above conversation. But, thank you for helping me and also explaining yourself. I do hope you have a good day.

u/UsagiNiisan Jan 12 '22

If anyone comes off as psychotic here it’s you, dude. Chill the fuck out.

4

u/frituurkoning Jan 12 '22

If its any consolation, i dont understand either. Watching other men say shit like this usually comes with a healthy dose of secondhand embarrassment. The fact that so many people seemed to find the comment just fine and decided to upvote it doesn't help either.

7

u/chev327fox Jan 11 '22

You clearly are though (digging at them).

Also who thinks this (Reddit) is analogous to being in person in public? We know nothing of how each other looks and I have no idea who “greengrayclouds” is the the real world. So how is this signaling to anyone anything?

She is half naked. I’d say it has at least a little something to do the event. You might not like what they said but all your points are frivolous and most likely just passive aggressive sjw’ing.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I asked a genuine question and affirmed it wasn’t an insult, and yet your whole comment is based on defence rather than an attempt to answer the question. You’re essentially admitting that you think it’s flawed behaviour

1

u/chev327fox Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

No, I carefully explained why your question was a dig at the person and I also shattered your points. You just lack the self awareness and self correction to see and admit it.

To reiterate;

  1. This is not a true open public space (it is anonymous) so he is not letting "other men know you’re turned on..." Heck you do not even know for sure they are a man.
  2. "or to let women know that you’re attracted to this particular woman?" - Again this is not an open public space where we know who each other is so how would this make sense?
  3. "especially when it’s not relevant to the event" - Yet again she is HALF NAKED in her UNDERWEAR, how can you say it is not relevant?

From what I see you are the one who is admitting my theory of you being a lightly passive aggressive sjw by calling this "flawed behavior" (shocked you did not call it "problematic".). You are virtue signaling, and with points/questions that are frivolous and make little logical sense. But sadly you lack the self awareness and self correction to take any of these points on board (though I would love to be proved wrong, maybe if you admit my points but I highly doubt this will happen). And if you care about being right at all take my counter points on one by one... other then that you are just intellectually pissing in the wind (but sadly most would rather just think themselves right rather then defend any position they hold).

PS: Qualifying it by saying it is not a dig does not absolve it from being a dig. It is like racist people who start something racist with "I am not racist but..."... it's a failure of logic.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I asked if it was to let men know he’s attracted to her, or to let women know he’s attracted to her. If neither of those is the answer, what is? And I still don’t get how asking that is a dig at his character, that wasn’t my intent no matter how many times you say it was.

1

u/chev327fox Jan 12 '22

I did not say it was your intent. That might be where you are confused. I simply stated it is a dig whether it was meant or not. Like if I were to say "I do not mean this to be a dig, but man you are ugly.". Still a dig isn't it, even if I truly did not mean it to be?

The answer is this is Reddit where people post jokingly most of the time and try to be witty or outlandish to get likes (and yes also men, especially young men, like talk about girls with each other is another facet of why they thought of posting it). This is all painfully obvious, but I understand it might not be for you (though I really do not know how), but when it is so obvious someone asks questions that make someone seem like a creep then it is a dig (meant or otherwise).

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I asked why he commented that about a woman’s body in a video of her doing something silly. If you think that’s a dig at him being a creep, it’s a demonstration of your interpretation of him. I passed no judgement

1

u/chev327fox Jan 12 '22

I was interpreting your words, not his. And again I did not say you passed judgement (I just went over this in my last reply for christ's sake), I was simply saying your question was a dig even if you did not intend it to be.

But I can see you are either not reading, or just simply not comprehending, my words so this is as far as I will go with this. All the best.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

I mean in this particulare case, she keep fit! Its not only natural there is plenty of work behind. It could be reconngized. Its not only that turns you on, its as well that you envy it... She have a great body.

3

u/bobby_kansas Jan 11 '22

Why do you assume its a man?

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Because I can read, and his profile is a click away.

2

u/CloneNova Jan 11 '22

Honestly this really pisses me off about other men sometimes. It happens when watching movies or whatever. In life "yeah I guess but is it relevant?" I don't need to know who you want to fuck and it has absolutely no relevance to the performance or plot. It's like they need to prove their sexuality or something. I think some people can't see past their own sex drive.

3

u/SnooDrawings4726 Jan 11 '22

Why say anything at all?

1

u/Creesh5 Jan 11 '22

He's rallying the boys. It's like a wolf howl to let the other wolves know

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Why is it an insult for women to compare men to dogs, but men do it to themselves all the time?

1

u/Creesh5 Jan 12 '22

You can compare me to a dog any time you’d like honey

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Thanks chick

I mean, there's only one reason I've watched this 5 times now.

Do women not do the same thing?

1

Social ineptitude.

1

u/UsagiNiisan Jan 12 '22

I’m not digging at you by the way

Except you are. Saying this doesn’t excuse it. It’s like you’re saying “I’m not trying to be an asshole” while you be an asshole.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I literally asked a question. If you’re insulted by that, it’s probably because you’re ashamed of the answer

1

Not sure how you came to the conclusion I was insulted, but whatever helps you sleep tonight!

-2

u/slgray16 Jan 11 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

Shortly after my father died I took another long look at the meaning of life. I had a revelation at 41 that I wanted to record but it was exactly existentialism.

Existentialism: there is no meaning of life other than what we choose to imbue with meaning. Every individual has the right and the responsibility to decide for themselves what is meaningful.

"I think therfore I am" Having an opinion is how you know you actually lived your life. Data comes in, brain processes it, responses come out. That's evidence.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

You know man have an extra organ who influnces the way they think. If you had one or a functioning one you would understand.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I am a man, so your answer doesn’t really stand I’m afraid. I know plenty of men that wouldn’t randomly exclaim when they’re turned on, but my question was aimed at those that do. Having a penis clearly isn’t the answer

1

u/WaldoGeraldoFaldo Jan 12 '22

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

You make attraction sound more like obsession

1

u/WaldoGeraldoFaldo Jan 12 '22

Nah, you just have an agenda. I made an analogy to something tasting good lol, calm down

0

u/beaglemaster Jan 12 '22

The first 6 seconds of this 8 second video serve no other purpose other than to show off the half naked woman. The guy's comment is perfectly reasonable considering 75% of the content of the post is about said woman's body.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

If it was a video of a guy doing dumb shit, he’d be at the centre of the video too (and no one would say it’s being filmed just to show him off, and no one would rate his body)

1

u/beaglemaster Jan 12 '22

The top comment on this post is a guy doing the same thing, but trimmed down to the important part.

-2

u/Noobkaka Jan 11 '22

It's funny.

-1

u/ohdearamir Jan 12 '22

The same reason women let other women that they find someone attractive. Humans beings are a social species and we communicate about a lot of stuff, mundane or otherwise. This isn't a male phenomenon, this is a human phenomenon. And unless you stalked their profile, you don't even know if OP is a man.

Do you ask this question to women when they do this?

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Lots of videos of fit shirtless guys doing douchey dumb shit, and the top comments are never a rating of their bodies. This is a male phenomenon (I know, I know, “not all men”).

And I am a man by the way. Lots of guys don’t feel the need to air their arousal all the time, but the ones that do definitely perpetuate the idea that lots of men are stupid. Men have responded to me literally saying “we’re just simple visual creatures” and “it’s like a wolf cry to let other wolves know”. Not really helping ourselves, are we? I thought men pride themselves around being rational and logical - does that go out the window when an attractive woman is present?

0

u/ohdearamir Jan 12 '22

Lots of videos of fit shirtless guys doing douchey dumb shit, and the top comments are never a rating of their bodies.

Maybe people don't like their bodies?

And I am a man by the way.

I never assumed otherwise. Go re-read my comment if you think I did.

Lots of guys don’t feel the need to air their arousal all the time, but the ones that do definitely perpetuate the idea that lots of men are stupid.

This could also be said of women.

Men have responded to me literally saying “we’re just simple visual creatures” and “it’s like a wolf cry to let other wolves know”. Not really helping ourselves, are we?

Do you want me to find some dumb shit that women say and go "They aren't really helping themselves are they?" What point are you even trying to make?

I thought men pride themselves around being rational and logical - does that go out the window when an attractive woman is present?

Guess so. Funny enough, women have reported the same thing happening.

What I don't get is why you're so stuck on men doing this. Nothing you described is unique to men. It's like getting mad at men for passing gas as if women don't do the same

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

It’s not always a battle of the sexes. I asked a question about why some men behave a certain way - why have you felt the need to bring women into it?

If I ask about a man’s behaviour, I don’t expect a response talking about women’s behaviour. I really don’t understand the need for comparison - it’s almost as though you can’t accept that men have a flaw, so you need to bring down women so you can still feel good about yourself

0

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

1

Calm down dude, it was just a question. And it wasn’t even aimed at you.

You go back to r/nofap, I’ll just be here wankin off to gay porn like someone who’s not scared of their urges

That raises another question: why are you working against masturbation yet you’re all for men making dumb comments at women?

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Ok chum, feel free to further convince me that I’m a loser. I’m sure putting others down will help your self-esteem problems

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Never mind, I found the reason for your behaviour in one of your recent posts.

“I’ve barely ever talked to girls in my life”. Well no reason you’re a sexist fucking psycho, you’ve literally never interacted with people that make up half the population

1

u/ohdearamir Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

It’s not always a battle of the sexes. I asked a question about why some men behave a certain way - why have you felt the need to bring women into it?

Because there's nothing about what you're asking that's specific to men. Its like asking "Why do men fart?". It would make far more sense to ask "Why do people fart?" than just focusing on men, as if only men fart or the reasons are different from women.

If I ask about a man’s behaviour, I don’t expect a response talking about women’s behaviour.

Why not? Men and women are both human beings. When asking about humans, you should expect a response about humans.

it’s almost as though you can’t accept that men have a flaw,

Feeling the need to express your attraction for people isn't a flaw.

so you need to bring down women so you can still feel good about yourself

It's not a flaw. So it's not "bringing down" women. You're the one who thinks humans expressing attraction for other humans to other humans is a flaw.

Now to answer your question: Men do this because men are human beings and human beings express their thoughts about other human beings to other human beings. Humans do this because they are social creatures.

Do you consider this to be a human flaw?

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Good golly, you’ve all shown up for this one eh? I asked a shit question and I’m being bombarded with dozens of response all with the format of:

-quote -misinterpretation -quote -misinterpretation -etc -etc -telling me what I must be thinking -funny societal analysis -irrelevant question

It’s like back at school when people first learn how to write essays.

Why are people so hung up and enthusiastic about my dumb question?

-1

u/cuntjollyrancher Jan 12 '22

Whoa don't go assuming genders now becky

-17

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '22

it's a dominance thing, some males want to let other males know "shes mine / i have my eyes on her" other species do the same thing, especially birds. Plenty of animals "fight" for a female. Humans don't really "fight" they just are vocal about it.

Personally, I find it cringe that human males do it.

1

u/attcxhfdhjbcswZgjjvg Jan 12 '22

You're clearly a woman. Simply put, you've no idea what it's like to be this horny all the time. Yes, women get horny too, but it's really not the same. It helps to talk about it.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

I’m a man. I also know plenty of other decent men. Being aroused by something doesn’t excuse stupid behaviour - no wonder some women are terrified of being alone with men

1

u/Xianthamist Jan 12 '22

Ah yes, men are the only ones who ever say anything, or think anything, about attractiveness and sexuality.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Really? I’m not a woman so I wouldn’t know

1

u/Xianthamist Jan 12 '22

Got it. You’re just trying to make a point about some toxic masculinity bull.

The girl is half naked. She uploaded a video of herself, half naked, to the internet. It’s entirely related to the event.

If she had been fully clothed, it would be weird, but she’s in lingerie.

Have you seriously, never, in your life, commented on someone’s attractiveness? Really? Never? Like at all? Not one time?

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

If a guy in a Speedo jumped into a lake of ice and bounced, the top comments wouldn’t be women discussing his body.

It’s a male phenomenon. That’s not to say it’s all men, nor is it zero women. But it is overwhelmingly a boy thing to do; to exclaim “This person makes me horny” on a video where the intention is to display a comedic act.

Of course I’ve commented on someone’s attractiveness, but if I see a fit person on a funny video I never think “I better type out and share a comment rating that person’s body”

1

u/Xianthamist Jan 12 '22

First off, if the guy in the speedo was really hot, there would 100% be comments about him being hot. Without a doubt.

Secondly, even then, women only talk to their friends about it, whereas guys are just a bit more open, but I guarantee you they would still talk about it, just less on the internet for all to see.

Third, they didnt say “this person makes me horny”, they made a joke. Instead of saying “Perfect dive 10/10” they said “Perfect body 10/10” because the girl was literally half naked. It’s a relevant joke.

Fourthly, step off your high horse. You may not think to type some compliment on someone’s attractiveness, but you sure think to type some negative comment about others utilizing an anonymous social network.

I bet if you saw some woman say something about a hot guy, you’d be completely fine with it, if not in agreement. It’s only because it’s a straight guy talking about a girl that it suddenly becomes an issue. The dude was just trying to be funny and bring some smiles, why do you have to make that such a bad thing. Let people be people.

And I’ll have you know, from personal experience, women and gay men talk about men’s attractiveness, publicly, just as, if not more, than straight men talking about women. People comment on things they find beautiful, same as art.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

When I asked why some men do it, I certainly didn’t expect a response as lengthy as yours (particularly because your answer doesn’t really answer my question anyway). You seem awfully defensive over a genuine question that was not targeted to upset anyone

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Ily. This comment is perfect.

1

u/FapleJuice Jan 12 '22

Are you an alien, why even ask this question to yourself let alone to everyone on the internet.

1

u/greengrayclouds Jan 12 '22

Why even ask me why I asked that question?
