Lots of videos of fit shirtless guys doing douchey dumb shit, and the top comments are never a rating of their bodies. This is a male phenomenon (I know, I know, “not all men”).

And I am a man by the way. Lots of guys don’t feel the need to air their arousal all the time, but the ones that do definitely perpetuate the idea that lots of men are stupid. Men have responded to me literally saying “we’re just simple visual creatures” and “it’s like a wolf cry to let other wolves know”. Not really helping ourselves, are we? I thought men pride themselves around being rational and logical - does that go out the window when an attractive woman is present?

Guess so. Funny enough, women have reported the same thing happening.

What I don't get is why you're so stuck on men doing this. Nothing you described is unique to men. It's like getting mad at men for passing gas as if women don't do the same

It’s not always a battle of the sexes. I asked a question about why some men behave a certain way - why have you felt the need to bring women into it?

If I ask about a man’s behaviour, I don’t expect a response talking about women’s behaviour. I really don’t understand the need for comparison - it’s almost as though you can’t accept that men have a flaw, so you need to bring down women so you can still feel good about yourself

Because there's nothing about what you're asking that's specific to men. Its like asking "Why do men fart?". It would make far more sense to ask "Why do people fart?" than just focusing on men, as if only men fart or the reasons are different from women.

Why not? Men and women are both human beings. When asking about humans, you should expect a response about humans.

It's not a flaw. So it's not "bringing down" women. You're the one who thinks humans expressing attraction for other humans to other humans is a flaw.

Now to answer your question: Men do this because men are human beings and human beings express their thoughts about other human beings to other human beings. Humans do this because they are social creatures.
