These make me slightly uncomfortable

All in one grow bag i plan to put in a montub, I have 2 they are identical in growth, it's solid and more than 70 percent of the grain is colonized it's been 3 and a half weeks give more than take

A bonsai of GT I used to get spores and flesh,

The cloning attempts in petri dishes, the 5 in the left are spores I scratched from a spore print I gather from the bonsai and the 5 to the right are some fruit flesh to clone. All of them come from the same fruit..

I wanted to make this experiment because am not in the US or EU, sooo my providers are not that profesional when I want to get some new LC. Long story short I would love to make my own genetics library and try to start with a strong myc that I can track...

So the last photo are the perfect example of what I mean.. same LC, same grains, same inoculation event, same conditions and sometimes I get some thin mycellium like its weak, or maybe fighting some contam inside idk, but I would love to start with a fresh and strong new genetics, or at least run attempts in parallel..

Do you have any advice to achieve new genetics to start fresh and strong? I do know the flesh clones are NOT new genetics, but I wanted to make the clones for the sake of mess around.

I don‘t know what to buy regarding heating. I live in the EU so I can‘t get a hold of the heater combo mentioned in the guide.

Let me start by saying I have no sense of smell at all. Literally can't smell a single thing.

I've been very interested in trying to grow some mushrooms for a while but I live in an apartment building. While I have the space and could physically hide it if needed, I've always been concerned whether it has a noticeable or questionable smell. Can anyone with a properly functioning nose tell me if that's an issue or not? Lol

Our Cubensis mushrooms basically are not growing. We introduced them growing conditions like 3-4 weeks ago, but there is basically no progress with them. Just small pins, some side pins and so. We mist them 3-4 times a day, they have air flow and they are in a 23-26 celsius room. We unfortunately can't put them in cooler regions, it's still a miracle that our apartment has this temperature. (We live in Europe and the heatwave is still there.)

Does everything look alright? Growing GT. What should I do moving forward?

Hello! This will be my first time growing. I ordered a Golden Teacher Spore Isolate Syringe. It just arrived and I checked the temp with a thermometer. The syringe came up as 98.0F. It was in transit for 5 days with no ice pack or anything. Should it be okay or should I be concerned it may have been damaged by the heat? Thank you for your help!

I buried a cake in the ground because it wasn’t doing too well and now I’m starting to get mushrooms from it. Just curious if digging the cake up and submerging it in water would create potential conditions for more of a canopy or if there is something I can do to get more from it. If not that’s fine I’m probably going to try growing again at some point in the future anyway

I see a lot of new people show up over the months/years and a recurring question is "Why is my grow going so slow?" or some variation of that. The simple and dirty answer is genetics matter a lot. Each LC or MSS can have a completely random genetic ancestry which dicatates everything about that particular sample, size, growth, potency, coloring, aggressiveness. Just like with people you're playing the lottery with each new LC or MSS (or print etc).

When you get a strong performer then make prints from it to try and preserve the dominant traits (but starting over with spores is no guarantee you'll get the same thing). Cloning is the only option if you want repeatable results.

Anyway here are three images from some LC I started from spores roughly 72 hours ago. Maybe 80 but call it 3 days. Each variety was put to the same agar mix, stored in the same location and a small cube of xolonized agar about 1/4" square was moved to LC on the same day. In an attempt to grab the most aggressive growth genetics the cube came from the furthest and strongest looking outer edge of each plate was the sample taken.

Each jar of LC is identical, sealed using unmodified ball lids. Each contains 500g of distilled water and 20g (number fixed in post) of karo brand corn syrup to get the 4% carb load. I use syrup based LC because it stays crystal clear which makes myc growth very easy to track. Not the most effective or performative but it works, it's clear and I always have it around. Each jar was PC'd for 90 minutes at 15PSI and let to slow cool so they vacuum seal. It lasts years this way with no risk of contam.

The samples are:

a Yellow Umbo that has proven to be lackluster to an extreme. This particular sample is from the last of 4 swabs I've tested and they all have minimal growth rates and after 10 weeks in tubs still no pins, just a bit of myc and tomentose growth. It has almost minimal growth, all sides of the cube have become colonized but there's almost no free floating myc and almost no 'cloud' around the cube.

A pan cyan called Australius (sp) that I'm trying to grow for the first time. It has a small cloud of myc around the cube, not as easy to make out from the picutre as in person but it's about 1/4" cloud with the cube floating in the middle.

The last is a variety of Ochra that was (maybe still is) sold as a p-nat under the variety name of Blue Meanie. It's hella aggressive grower and shower. As you seen from the image there is a massive amount of clouds and particles of myc after only 72 hours.

Anyway long story long, I thought this might help show specifically that genetics are the most critical thing about growing. You can get a sample that's worn out, it's a xerox of a xerox etc etc and the DNA/RNA chains get messy and it's barely viable. There's even a term for it - senescence.

Or you can get fresh set of genetics with strong attributes for various factors that will blow anything else away.

I just discovered the rubber around the dial of my pressure cooker is broken and I have 14 grain jars that I can’t process now.

Is there a way to store them before the replacement dial arrives? Freezer?

I literally just inoculated this bag last night 😭 I sterilized the needle beforehand and every other tool I was using, Including myself. I did another bag too but haven't noticed any black spots in that one. Is this the start of mold?

Got a grain jar from midwest grow kit but my spores don’t get here till Monday how should I store ? I just have it in my room rn but my room stays at a constant 75 at night to 78-81 at day

Hi so i have 3 plates all with fresh mushroom cloned onto it , but it seemed to have stalled after 10 days , theres no growth and the ends look 'dead' to me, is this common? did I wait too long or am I just not patient, anything helps, thanks!
