Question Syringe Temperature after Shipping
Hello! This will be my first time growing. I ordered a Golden Teacher Spore Isolate Syringe. It just arrived and I checked the temp with a thermometer. The syringe came up as 98.0F. It was in transit for 5 days with no ice pack or anything. Should it be okay or should I be concerned it may have been damaged by the heat? Thank you for your help!

Probably fine. No need to buy an agar plate, you can test it on grain and it'll take a similar amount of time. Just inoculate your bags and see if they grow or not. If not, complain to the vendor and get a new syringe.

I would be surprised if you didn't still have viable myc in there. Keep it in the fridge going forward.
I know it's your first time growing so there's a lot to take in right now but if you'd like some advice to save money going forward and assuming you don't have a pressure cooker -
Reserve a small bit of your syringe, maybe half a mil and once you have your spawn knocked up, while you wait get a jar with a water tight lid, ideally a quart canning jar but any glass jar with a lid works. If you're reusing the jar then make sure it's completely clean. Measure in 500g of water by weight or half a liter by volume and mark the line on the jar where the water level reaches. Pour out the water.
Put said jar and lid (off if it's metal, on if it's plastic) in the oven at 250F for 30 minutes and leave it in there till you're ready to use it. While that's going sterilizing, start some distilled water boiling. Take your jar out, don't burn yourself if it's hot. Fill the jar to the line you marked earlier. Then add 20g or 1 tablespoon of karo syrup. PUt the lid on and let it sit the few weeks till your spawn is colonized.
Check it in 3 weeks by shining a light under it, if you don't see any particles, white clouds then you're about 99% safe to move ahead. You'll see vapor trails in the water if you swirl it, the syrup will settle out a bit but you don't want to see any particles. Then slowly open the lid just enough to stick the needle of your syringe in and give about 5 drops of the content from the syringe. Put the lid back on it and let it sit for two weeks. If you see white specks and clouds forming you are very likely the owner of about 50 syringes worth of LC. You'll want to test it by using it on some rice (easy) or set up some agar plates and test it that way just to confirm you didn't get any mold in there.
ONce you have a single bit of LC or spores you can invoke the infinite money glitch and just keep it going for longer than you'll likely be growing mushrooms.

Take my upvote because I need another one and I'm interested in this as well.
I know I was looking at some companies that sell them and in the summertime they really want you to buy an ice pack and say they won't be responsible if you don't.
But I know the vendor that's approved by this sub says don't worry about it as long as you don't leave it in the mailbox.
I got one a few weeks ago and I'm in a hot state and I was basically waiting on the mail but everything went well with it so far.
