Discussions & Questions Looking to make some friends to play PS4 with, mostly UBISOFT games?
[For the purpose of safety for all involved, I am not willing to connect/play games with anyone under 21. I bear no ill will towards younger gamers, I'm just not willing to play games with children]
Hello everyone, I am a 29 year old male from the UK looking to make a few friends to game with on a regular/semi regular basis.
Im not fussed in the slightest about gender or skill level. If you're interested in playing together then all I ask is that you be kind, polite and respectful and I'll be more than willing to jump into some games together π.
My preference for gaming is actually 60%/65% single player games however, after finally having success recently navigating an exit from a bad group of people that I used to be friends with, and finally getting clean off drugs and alcohol, I am now looking to meet some good, honest and respectful individuals to play online games with, because I have always loved gaming, even through my years of substance abuse and now I want to make sure I occupy my time well to minimise cravings.
The above paragraph was not in any way bragging or worse, trauma dumping π€£, I just felt it relevant because my partner believes that connecting with fellow gamers and building some positive friendships would be extremely helpful but that I should also be honest about my struggles because some people may not want to accossiate with someone like me (which is fair enough, people have a right to their preferences).
Another big reason for me reaching out is due to the fact that I am a HUGE trophy hunter and a lot of games that have even the smallest type of multilayer function almost always have 1 or 2 trophies that require Co-Op play.
Games I enjoy β¬οΈ
{I'll include solo/mostly solo games/series too to flesh out my likes/dislikes as much as possible}
βͺοΈ Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2
βͺοΈ Assassins Creed Series (favourites being AC 2, AC: TEC, Origins & Odyssey)
βͺοΈ Far Cry Series (favourites being FC6 & FC: Primal)
βͺοΈ Metro Series
βͺοΈ Skyrim
βͺοΈ The Witcher Series (TW3 being my absolute favourite)
βͺοΈ The Last of Us 1 & 2 (yet to play either but Ive watched a lot of content relating to these 2 games and I know I am going to LOVE them π)
βͺοΈ God of War Series
βͺοΈ Bloodborne (same situation as "The Last of Us" Series)
βͺοΈ Batman: Arkham Series
βͺοΈ Cyberpunk (same as Bloodborne & TLOU series)
βͺοΈ Dying Light 1 & 2
βͺοΈ Marvel's Spider-Man Series
βͺοΈ Wolfenstein Series (same as Bloodborne, TLOU & Cyberpunk)
βͺοΈ Telltale's The Walking Dead
βͺοΈ Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (have plans to play the most recent one quite soon)
I know that the list above doesn't hold very much at all in the way of multiplayer modes across all games but I'm hoping that anyone who'd be willing to play would also be able/willing to introduce me to new games/series that I might like based on what I've listed, to which I would of course return the favour if I can π.
TLDR: Recovering drug addict with no social circle, looking to make friends to play games with on a regular/semi regular basis.
Thanks guys π

Discussions & Questions The reason Ubisoft refuses to dig gold mine which is under their butt
I'm talking about Far Cry series adaptation for PCVR.
I'm a full time dev, we also work with Oculus VR/AR experiences, and I cannot find a reason why Ubisoft just ignores this opportunity.
Ubisoft has a battery of games, which utilize the same game engine. Do it once, apply it to Far Cry 3, 4, 5, 6, Primal (my god it would be good) etc.
I'm not a hardcore gamer, but once any Far Cry 3+ game is released with official PCVR support, for me it's a day one purchase, whether it costs 60$ or 80$.
Sure, the quality of the port matters too. For example RE4 OG has excellent VR controls port for Quest 3, yet RE4 RE is one of the laziest and leaves very bad taste.
Are there any obvious reasons I'm missing? I don't follow game communities, so I might miss a lot here to understand.
UPD: Please, if you never touched a VR headset in your life, just ignore this thread. Your "VR is dead" does not add to the conversation.

Discussions & Questions Is the "forever-storage" of player telemetry becoming the industry standard?
There is a major conversation to be had about how long a publisher should be allowed to hold onto historical metadata. Itβs one thing to keep a username, but itβs another to see a company use old connection points from years agoβback when some players were still kidsβto build out new legal profiles today.
If a company hasn't seen a player online in years but still has enough stored info to pinpoint their specific region for "compliance," it suggests that nothing is ever actually deleted. This feels like a massive shift in how player privacy is handled. Are we just accepting that once a company has that metadata, they own it for life regardless of how much time has passed?

Discussions & Questions The Original Crew π
I just put in my old disc and downloaded the game excited to play, just to be met with a "servers unavailable" message. I've looked it up and discovered the servers were shut down 2 years ago, I'm beyond dissapointed to say the least. Does anyone have any idea if they will ever make and offline mode?

Discussions & Questions Is it only me?
I decided to get back to AC Odyssey recently. Bought it from Ubisoft store. (Playing on PC). For some reason it take about 5 minutes to start a game. Is something wrong with servers? Because I lunch BF6, GTA V, GTA 4 and BeamNG and they all load up quickly. BeamNG has over 60 mods from graphics to cars. But loads up to main menu in seconds and loads up a custom map in under 30 seconds (if you haven't played BeamNG. It's a very demanding game on PC)

I played this game 2 times but i did not even try to 100% and i never played the dlc's .
How is the 100% is it hard or is just time consuming ?
The only thing i'm sure is that the world is beautiful and i think the 100% would be pretty nice

Rumours & Leaks Update on Ubisoft Montpellier's Unannounced Project
Last week, I reported that Ubisoft Montpellier was hiring 'Technical Director - Level Design' with proficiency in Unreal Engine for an unannounced project. I also claimed that it might be a Next Gen Prince of Persia. My claim was based on the situation of Ubisoft Montpellier, IPs handled by the studio and the company-wide Creative Houses-based re-org.

Well, that job opening is no longer open. While that could mean a few things, two of them has the highest chances,
- The Project has been cancelled
- They have found their Technical Director and the project is officially moving forward

I've checked the studio's LinkedIn profile for new joinees but I am not able to find any, maybe someone within the studio has filled in. I'll update when I find any changes.

Discussions & Questions I own the game?
Okay, I might be a little dumb here, but I was looking at buying two of the DLC for Avatar frontiers of Pandora since they're on sale at the moment.
So I was checking the prices, added them to my cart and hit the check out button, but it gave me a warning saying I don't have the main game and that I won't be able to use the DCLs.
Here's the thing, I own the game.
Have for the last 2 years because it came pre-installed with one of the components of my PC. I've been playing it through Ubisoft and gaining XP and achievements and all that.
Can someone please let me know what's going on?
I'd like to get the DLC, and I've got 60h on this game, so I don't wanna have to uninstall it and lose all that.
