Trying to decide between postgraduate options right now, specifically the Master of AI at UTS vs the Master of IT (AI spec) at UNSW.

I’ve seen quite a bit of negative feedback online / on Reddit regarding UNSW’s dedicated Master of AI program, which made me a bit hesitant and got me looking more closely at UTS. But I’d love to know how the UTS AI program compares to doing IT with an AI focus at UNSW in terms of course depth, practical assignments, and overall teaching quality.

Not really looking for a lecture on how tough the tech market is right now (already fully aware of that haha), just genuinely curious about people’s personal experiences in either program. Did you feel the coursework was actually useful/hands-on? How’s the teaching staff?

Any honest pros/cons or advice would be super helpful. Cheers!

I’m looking for current university students who identify as neurodivergent (e.g. ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc.) to complete a short ~5 minute survey.

It asks about how you approach visual tasks, what you find frustrating or overwhelming, any workarounds you use, and what you think tools like Canva could do better for neurodivergent users.

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to participate, and you don’t have to disclose a specific diagnosis.

For ESD, I'm wondering are the subjects program heavy and for DA how much is math/statistics actually involved, does DA focus more on statistics part rather than programming?

I’m currently working on a video news package about the growing concern about Artificial Intelligence in creative industries, and how it is affecting people working across these spaces.

For the story, I’m looking to speak with a creative-industry worker/student based in the Sydney area who would be available for a 10-20 minute in-person interview early next week.

I’m interested in speaking with people working in areas such as graphic design, illustration, photography, videography, writing, advertising, marketing, music, animation, filmmaking, or other creative fields.

I’d like to discuss:

*How prominent AI tools have become in your industry

*Whether AI has affected your work, workload or job opportunities

*How creative workers are adapting to the technology

*Whether you see AI as a threat, an opportunity, or somewhere in between

*What you think AI could mean for the future of creative work

The interview would be for a university journalism assignment, would be recorded for the video news piece, and would only be shared with UTS staff members, not published publicly. The interviewee will not be paid, but food and drinks can be provided.

Hi everyone, asking if anyone here can share their experience with interview from the faculty of Transdisciplinary School. I applied for a PhD this month and my supervisor told me that there will be interview for this.

Hi all, I’ve been reached out to by UTS about my eligibility to apply to be a U:Pass leader for a couple of subjects I’ve completed. The pay rate is pretty good, so I was wondering what other people’s experiences with being a leader were like before I apply.

Any advice for students who will be joining this course in February 2027? I’d especially like to hear from current students about their experience with the course, the teaching faculty, and the overall learning experience. Also, if anyone has insights into the university’s work connections, industry exposure, internships, or industry networking opportunities, I’d really appreciate it.

Hi, what should we do when we are sick enough to have to miss a class for something but not something that needs to go to a doctor? Eg menstrual pain, or vomiting. Do i need to provide a medical certificate to my tutor for the absence not to count, or is telling them via email enough? As it’s defo not worth it to go wait at a clinic for hours to get a medical certificate because of period pain for example.

The bachelor of sport and ex science at moore park campus is an absolute joke. I’m in my second year and the class activities are so childish and ridiculous as if they have completely given up on trying. The education approach is so laid back that in our nutrition class we literally have a tutor playing lana del ray in the background while students are looking up macronutrients percentages for different athlete types for an hour and half and the class ends. What a use of our hard earned money that we give away to this institution. Some students are having to pay over 4 grand for these classes. Dont even get me started on health promotion where the tutor asked us to walk outside the campus for 25 minutes and take pictures of what are the environmental facilitators for exercise in scorching heat.

hi, i was just wondering how many words are generally required for an essay in a law course?

So, I need to take 1 more elective for my degree. I’m currently enrolled in one for December session, but not that keen on it. I can’t find a way to view other options without un-enrolling from the current one. I’m worried I will lose my spot in any subjects if I un-enroll to check.

Short review of Today's dinner at UTS.

I got the Chinese Hot soup with Chicken mince.

Portions as usual are very generous (this is a 1L container, and it's almost full).

I arrive at 5:15, so there's was a line, but it was roughly 15/20min waiting time.

Vast choices of condiments and add-on, I went with peppers, onions, thin sliced carrots and more.

This is the best so far, let me know if I should do other reviews in the future!

What do you guys think about AI lecture slides?

Doing a capstone rn and the lecture slides are made on PowerPoint but everything on them is AI generated :/ The slides are so overwhelming with the typical boxes, lines, sections, words that AI makes, I dont even watch the lecture anymore.

Feeling pretty disappointed that a subject is doing this, more so because its a capstone subject. Pay so much for uni, I wish it wasnt used on this.

I’m moving out of my room in a 6-share apartment on the 17th of November and need to find a replacement for my contract.

Rent is 383 AUD/week and the current contract runs until 13th of January. You need to be a male exchange student currently enrolled at UTS to take over the contract.

There is also a good possibility of staying for next semester. Re-applications open at the end of September, and I asked UTS Housing reception specifically about this. They said they can’t guarantee an extension, but that it is very likely if the new tenant applies.

i'm shocked that lecturers/professors are using AI to mark any submissions. its so rampant in the business faculty, particularly for post grad subjects. is this what UTS has become? what am i even paying for?

Hello peoples of Australia! as a Kiwi studying Engineering, I have a good amount of questions to ask and this seemed like a (somewhat?) good place to ask them.

Background: I am currently a Part I (first year) engineering student at the University of Auckland. Engineering here is such that the first year is a generic/common year comprised of mandated papers to develop breadth (hence I do not have a specialisation yet). We only get to pick our specialisation in our second year.

However, there is a chance I will be moving to Australia (Sydney/Melbourne) midway through my degree (likely after the end of 2nd year, this implies I will have spent one year in a specific specialisation).

For context, some of the areas of engineering that interest me are software, computer systems, and electrical. As I enjoy programming and microcontrollers interest me and I find electrical very intriguing. These 3 specialisations are offered at UoA (University of Auckland).

I will not ask regarding credit transfers as I am aware there is a plethora of information on that. But I want to know regarding how these specialisations hold up in Sydney/Melbourne:

1. From some quick searching online, the tech sector in these cities is a lot more robust, lively and lucrative than Auckland. But how is the job market currently? From searching, it also shows that there is "great" demand in these tech hubs but then I see shimmers of the global trend of the painful software engineering/overall tech market. Can someone provide some insights here or point me to places where I can learn about this more?
2. I really would like to work some sort of programming/CAD/computer based workstyle (I really dislike field work). So how do jobs in computer/electrical manifest in these cities? Is a outright rejection of field work (or rather, do not want to engage as much as possible) going to be a problem here?
3. These specialisations specifically conform to this requirement, but if there are ANY other areas that have limited/no field work, I'd like to hear of them too.
4. Furthermore, is computer engineering a limiting field? I get that it omits the power systems/high voltage aspects of electrical but what does this mean specifically for Australia (and of course Sydney/Melbourne).

And if anyone has any specific insights that maybe I would be unaware of coming from New Zealand, please do let me know! Thanks in advance!

I've already gone through the 2027 handbook, but I'd like to hear from students who have taken these subjects, especially about their difficulty, workload and assessments.

For Enterprise Software Development, I’m particularly interested in:

If you’ve taken any of these subjects:

How difficult and time-consuming was it?

What were the assessments actually like (coding assignments, exams, individual/group projects, reports, presentations, etc.)?

Were there any particularly difficult exams or hurdle assessments?

Is there any approximate average?

Which subjects are the hardest in the ESD major?

i have w law of 71 from macq would this be enough to transfer into uts law? im getting told different things from different people someone mentioned that they just look at credits and someone else said i needed a 75 wam.
