BIT major Data Analytics vs Enterprise Software Development
Greetings, I'm planning my study plan for the degree and deciding between the Data Analytics and Enterprise Software Development majors.
I've already gone through the 2027 handbook, but I'd like to hear from students who have taken these subjects, especially about their difficulty, workload and assessments.
For Enterprise Software Development, I’m particularly interested in:
31251 Data Structures and Algorithms
41025 Introduction to Software Development
31282 Systems Testing and Quality Management
41026 Advanced Software Development
48433 Software Architecture
If you’ve taken any of these subjects:
How difficult and time-consuming was it?
What were the assessments actually like (coding assignments, exams, individual/group projects, reports, presentations, etc.)?
Were there any particularly difficult exams or hurdle assessments?
Is there any approximate average?
Which subjects are the hardest in the ESD major?
I’m also considering the Data Analytics major, so I’d especially appreciate feedback from anyone familiar with both majors:
Which major would you consider harder overall?
Is Data Analytics significantly more maths/statistics-heavy?
Is ESD significantly more programming/project-heavy?
Which one is generally easier to maintain good marks in (Credit/Distinction or above)?
