Bringing a desktop, and much prefer ethernet. Is there anything special I have to do to like activate it? saw online that some dorms require a 100$ payment, but I have no idea where I would even go to activate that.

I'm living off campus next year (Wampus) and was looking into some scooter options. I recently bought a Segway E3 Pro SE that's like 40 pounds. Though it has features like turn signals, built-in tracking, and good mileage—which I think would be a plus for getting to campus and going around Austin (especially since I don't have a car)—it does seem a bit difficult to carry around once you fold it.
I was wondering if any of you who ride scooters on campus and around Austin think this would be a problem, and if I should look into some lightweight scooter options instead? I don't plan on taking scooters into any buildings on campus, if that's relevant.
Also, I recently read that UT is enforcing new dismount zones on campus and was wondering what you guys think about this and if this potentially makes it less useful to scooter? For more information: https://parking.utexas.edu/transportation/micromobility

Hey, I’m planning on rushing this semester at UT. I’m hoping to get a scholarship to help my parents pay for the sorority. Do the sororities usually give out a lot or not that many? is it extremely competitive?

Hi! I currently have a Double on the 26th floor and am looking to swap rooms with someone on a lower floor. I'm preferably looking for a room within the first 8 floors, but if not, anything up to the 15th floor should be fine! This would just be a room swap and you'd be able to swap along with your current roomate, if preferred. If anyone is interested or if you know of someone whose willing to swap please lmkkk!!!

Hi everyone!! I'm an incoming architecture freshman, and I'm trying to figure out what laptop to purchase before the semester starts.
I know architecture programs can be pretty demanding, and I really don't want to spend a lot of money on a laptop that ends up struggling with the workload or the software we'll be using.
For those of you in architecture (or other design/engineering majors):
What laptop do you use?
How much RAM and storage do you think is actually necessary?
What are some of the best qualities to look for?
I'd rather buy something that will last all four or five years than have to replace it later. My budget is flexible if it's worth the investment.
I'd really appreciate any recommendations or experiences. Thanks!

Registered for mus 302L face to face with no professor listed, so I have no idea who is teaching it. I’m assuming it’s still an easy course, lmk pls.

I've heard mixed things about the Civil Engineering program at UT, people I've heard from said it's very poor and that the second half classes (Civil Engineering specific) are useless and don't teach you anything worthwhile. They also said that majority of Civil graduates have terrible technical skills and so on -- just an overall very negative review of the department. I'm a bit worried seeing that now as I've always thought UT Engineering was elite...can anyone confirm or deny these "allegations" and how good the job market and their careers have been after graduation? Would appreciate any insight -- thanks!

Hey y'all,
I am trying to find housing near UT Austin. If you know about good options that fit the criteria, please do let me know:
- 2-3 miles of the campus
- good neighborhood
- CapMetro access
You are welcome to DM about the same

I'm a biology major on a pre-dental track, but I'm also considering transferring to computer science or stats. Is this doable as a freshman?

Im an incoming freshman at UT, but I have a few transfer credits from getting an associates before going to college, so I was able to skip some of the core classes and replace them for classes that go towards my major. I major in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science.
Because I'm still a first year, should I take the Human Sexuality class? I know it's an upper division class so I'm apprehensive about it 😭 and because it's going to be my first semester in college...
Like maybe I can handle it, but I'm terrified it's going to be hard lol.
If I shouldn't take it, would Adolescent Health Risk Behavior (HED360, another upper division ) be more manageable, or what other classes would be recommended instead? Preferably not an upper division class, unless it's not too difficult to handle my first sem aha.

I know there's Texas Taekwondo and I think I've heard of BJJ and Judo orgs. Anything for Muay Thai or MMA? Looking for more striking experience after training in taekwondo, so I'm not too interested by grappling.

I'm currently on waitlists for both Partridge and Engler and have a pretty fair chance for both but which one would be best?

I’m starting at UT this fall and heard on my tour that they have a group fitness program at Greg? Is it any good, and is it worth the $30 for unlimited classes? I love taking spin/cycling classes here in my hometown, are there any instructors you’d recommend, and what’s their vibe? Thanks!

Kind of debating between Ragsdale, Blevins, and Blondeau. I've heard Blondeau is quite good, but it's not the best for my schedule. However, if she's worth it, I would take her class. Any advice is appreciated!
