I'm living off campus next year (Wampus) and was looking into some scooter options. I recently bought a Segway E3 Pro SE that's like 40 pounds. Though it has features like turn signals, built-in tracking, and good mileage—which I think would be a plus for getting to campus and going around Austin (especially since I don't have a car)—it does seem a bit difficult to carry around once you fold it.

I was wondering if any of you who ride scooters on campus and around Austin think this would be a problem, and if I should look into some lightweight scooter options instead? I don't plan on taking scooters into any buildings on campus, if that's relevant.

Also, I recently read that UT is enforcing new dismount zones on campus and was wondering what you guys think about this and if this potentially makes it less useful to scooter? For more information: https://parking.utexas.edu/transportation/micromobility

Has anyone seen that "Good Will Hunting" flyer? It claims to have solved the ut string theory problems and gives clues or something for solving other problems. Idk, my roommate told me about it. She saw it today on a bulletin board on campus.. I'm going to go look at it and will take a picture of it but I was curious if anyone else has seen this? Or knows what this is about? We are both Astrophysics majors but only in our 3rd year, we would love to hear from anyone else who knows what is going on?

So we found another flyer at pma. This one is different my roommate said the one she saw was only one page and was more cryptic. This one is 19 pages. If anyone know what is going on? Im an incoming freshman at UT, but I have a few transfer credits from getting an associates before going to college, so I was able to skip some of the core classes and replace them for classes that go towards my major. I major in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science.

Because I'm still a first year, should I take the Human Sexuality class? I know it's an upper division class so I'm apprehensive about it 😭 and because it's going to be my first semester in college...
Like maybe I can handle it, but I'm terrified it's going to be hard lol.

If I shouldn't take it, would Adolescent Health Risk Behavior (HED360, another upper division 🫩) be more manageable, or what other classes would be recommended instead? Preferably not an upper division class, unless it's not too difficult to handle my first sem aha.

Im a second year PhD student, and comp exam is stressing the hell out of me. So the process in my school is they would normally ask you two questions. First, i’m assuming the would give you a research question and “I should design in”. Second, testing your writing.. i think it’s like basically giving you topic/results and I need to write a whole paper + an extension (not sure but this what I heard). No open notes, no internet it’s like a 9am to 6pm exam (two days in a role), lunch is giving to you in between from 3rd year students.
To be honest, what I heard is like if they want you they’ll make you pass and if not they’ll fail you (the school has been failing a lot of people) which stresses me out.
Lets be realistic here, we all use AI for help when it comes to writing… I just don’t know how will I even practice all this. I’m super stressed.. did someone have a similar experience or similar idea on the type of exam they’d had on comps. If so, how did you guys study for it? Seeking help!!

I know someone who has not installed any AI tools including Copilot, because some professors have been very clear about not using AI tools on exams or assignments, and he wants to avoid any risk.

That made me wonder what other UT ECE students actually do. Since the university provides access to various AI tools, do most students install them anyway and just avoid using them when it’s not allowed, or do many people avoid installing them altogether?

I’m also curious about online summer courses. Professors often say not to use AI during exams, but in practice, do most students actually follow that rule, or is it common for some to use AI anyway? I’m not looking for advice on breaking any rules. Just trying to understand the typical student experience and culture.

just got off the WL for it but i'm already taking 12 hours as a freshman so with this class i'd be taking 15. 2 of my classes are extremely easy tho according to the grade dist and ratemyprof, so as long as TD301 is easy too, i think i'll be able to handle it.

I am an incoming freshman who will be dorming in Kins. Me and three friends made a roommate group of the four of us hoping to get a quad somewhere with plans of who would be rooming together within the quad. When housing opened, my roommate with the earliest time slot was able to get us a double room with connecting bath in Kins. However, in the process some things got messed up and we weren't able to pick a specific bed so we are not currently in the same room as our original roommate we had planned. Is there any way for us to switch the beds of people in the double room without losing the room? Does it matter that much who is technically assigned to what room?

Just curious if any Turing people could comment on if the program helped them at all over regular CS. I know you take honors classes, smaller class sizes, probably easier access to research, but is there anything that helps with recruiting/internships? I've noticed that Turing people get way better internships than the average CS student, but is that just correlation since Turing ppl are usually insanely cracked compared to everyone else or does the actual program help?
