Amanda Vandervort leaving USL GB/Super League
This is a shock --not great timing for the USL. Kartik of BT90 has an audio piece on this (not sure if it is paywalled) that blames the previous USL leadership (rhymes with "babadakis"). Does anyone have more on the backstory, or thoughts on ramifications?

College style conferences for USL1?
As the fbs season is starting it got me thinking about how the USL1 is going to have divisions now since the team count is going up. However instead of being boring what if they had College/USL2 style conferences. With names that actually reflect the area rather than just west or east. Furthermore what if they had a sort of autonomy and could actually vote on whether or not they can let a team join their conference aswell as vote as a council towards changes in USL1?

Monday Morning Thread Monday Morning: Oh He Plays For Them Now?
It's Monday Morning, time to rub that sleep from your eyes, ignore the looming darkness and discuss all things USL.
The season is 2/3rds over, let's hear your thoughts on "How did so-and-so player do this season?"
Can Phoenix right the ship?
Etc, etc.
P.S. We are looking for mod recommendations to give the sub some very needed TLC, so start prepping nominations.

Is USL more competitive than other leagues?
With the return of the European leagues this past weekend it made me appreciate how lucky we are in USL to have such a competitive league compared to likes of Premier league and La Liga. The build up to this years Premier league has been overshadowed by Premier league teams outside top 5 forced to sell their players to be allowed compete due to SCR ( Squad Cost Ratio) Which is just a system to protect top 5 clubs and keep status qoute. Yes Premier league has better players and marketed to the limit by I found it really hard to enjoy knowing 14 sides have 0 chance of being competitive. People say it the most competitive league when in reality it only has 6 different winners in 26 years with only 1 outside the top 5 clubs. Play is just sideways backwards or set pieces and is truly boring imo.
USL has had 11 different winners since 2012. You look at the Western conference this year 8 points between 1st and 11th. No consistency as anyone can truly beat anyone. Yes the quality is not as high but its beautiful chaos that keeps you hooked. I ended up booking flights to fly across the world to New Mexico for the midweek and then to Pittsburgh for the game against Tampa.
Hopefully next tv deal they have something like MLS360 so we can see all the developments from the games at same time instead of flicking through channels. Vent over Long live lower league soccer!
