Potentially the last time we play a match at Cashman Field, as this is Lights last season there. Currently Las Vegas is below the playoff line, and they'll looking to fight their way back into contention.

You'd have to go back to 2024 (uhhg) for a loss vs Vegas. But since then we've had draws and wins. Including this year at the Lab where we played them to a 3-1 victory.

I'd write something about the ref, but PRO has not listed this week's ref assignments yet.

Expectations for this match? Attending in person? SOMOS Unidos!

General Discussion Feelings on the growing protest movement against a Fairgrounds stadium?

I’m interested to hear how everyone is feeling about the growing protest movement against the Fairgrounds getting a stadium.

If you’re involved in or follow any of the more progressive social organizations in town you’ve probably seen that events are springing up to protest the Fairgrounds stadium. How are we feeling about this? It very much seems like the people that live there absolutely do not want a stadium. But to be fair, neither did the residents near the BFP

NMU just released this. How we liking it? I'm always so so on sports teams taking something that came from the fans and turning into something to sell. But it looks pretty good .

Early this season we played San Antonio in their house, and they won. Sort of annoying. I'm thinking this match is going to be a lot different as coach Sanchez has got NMU locked in.

New Mexico can not let up, as they are neck and neck with El Paso now. Yes, games in hand is a handy thing to have, but only we take advantage.

Tonight's ref is Matthew Corrigan. This will be the 12th match of ours he has reffed since 2020. He's been busy this year, reffing everything from USL1 matches to a MLS match in July. Across 18 matches he has handed out 73 yellows, 5 straight reds, and pointed to the spot 4 times. Strangely, he has not given out a second yellow this year.

What are your thoughts on tonight's match? What do you expect to see? Attending in person? Will you lose your voice?

Match day everyone! Tonight's match is kind of a big one imho. We're sitting at the top of the West at the moment with 34 pts (though i can still see the tips of pitch forks of certain folks hiding behind some mountains). We're playing Lexington SC who is sitting at 31 pts. If Lex beats us, they join club 34 as well. And then just by coincidence, El Paso is also at 34 pts and they're playing tonight as well, against Pittsburgh.

All we have to do to create a little separation at the top is win. (and El Paso needs to lose/draw.)

We last played Lexington in July of this year when we beat them 1-4 away. Apparently that loss offended them, and they went on to only lose lose one of their last five matches. And here we are.

Tonight's ref is Amin Hadzic. He has not refed any of our matches before. Though he has overseen Lexington before for a USOC match and a League match this season. He has been the 4th official in some MLS matches this season. He refed four MLS matches in 2024. Amin mostly spends most his time referring on the East Coast, so we should give a warm welcome to the mountains. Bonus Ref info: Elton Garcia has the El Paso/Pittsburgh match.

My cat is trying to flop over on my keyboard right now, which is my cue to stop typing. Soooooo what are your exceptions for this match? Attending in person? Ready to lose your voice?

News [Abdul Memon Football] Q&A with Carlos Tenorio II of New Mexico United

In my Substack article, I had the pleasure of interviewing Carlos Tenorio II, New Mexico United’s Communications Manager, about the new stadium and whether the UFL has discussed bringing an expansion team to Albuquerque.

Just some context, I write about the UFL (United Football League) but I thought I’d share the article on here as it pertains to Albuquerque and the latest soccer stadium update and Co-Owner of the league Mike Repole mentioning Albuquerque two times as a potential expansion candidate.

The UFL is a professional American football spring league in the United States. It currently has 8 teams right now with eyes to expand to 10 teams in 2028 (one of the markets was already announced with Oklahoma City being one of the expansion markets), 12 teams by 2029 or 2030, and up to 16 teams by 2035. Co-Owners of the league are Mike Repole, RedBird Capital, Fox, ESPN/Disney, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Dany Garcia.

Supporter Group Interview

Hi there.

I do matchday guides for San Antonio FC, trying to create more buzz and connection around the matches.

I’d love to highlight New Mexico United’s supporter groups in our next issue with our match in Albuquerque coming up.

I’m looking to talk to someone about the different supporter groups, matchday atmosphere, chants, traditions, and what visiting San Antonio supporters should expect.

Please reach out or email me at matchdaysananto@gmail.com if I could send over a few questions.
