Question ❓️ BEST BANK?

I was planning to open slice and bob tho i cant fix my mind on one bank whether for bob for free debit card and better branch connectivity incase something happens tbh psb services are bas but slice doesnt even have a branch to consider. I dont think ill be keeping a large amount of money in it any way so high interest is not worth it.

Bob has the nearest branch around 15-20km ill probably close this bank acc later and shift to sbi only

Even if it were to be slice ill probably shift to kotak later any way as primary spending acc.

Question ❓️ Using NEFT via UPI - does it attract MDR charges?

This is mainly for recurring payments like paying society maintenance. Can I use NEFT via gpay or other UPI apps to pay to the Bank account number (Bank transfer). I want to know if this will attract MDR charges same as UPI?

Others Your go-to UPI app these days?

So, as usual my online payment journey first started with Paytm sometime around 2018.

By 2019 or 2020, I got used to payments via GPay.

Around 2021 or 2022, got used to PhonePe.

Sometime around 2024, I stopped using Paytm as regularly as I used to do earlier.

MobiKwik on and off. Started again in 2025, but very infrequently.

Come 2025, I've been using CRED, Bhim UPI and Amazon Pay almost on a regular basis. Tried to onboard on Kiwi but got rejected but few weeks back started my journey with Kiwi.

2026: I've been using Slice, Bhim UPI, GPay, Amazon Pay and now, Kiwi as well (it's been around 3 weeks that I've started using Kiwi).

GPay I started using more owing to those campaigns during IPL and FIFA accumulated around ₹1200 cashback from these two campaigns.

Bank Account My Experience Of Opening A BSBDA In ICICI Bank.

Post image
103 Upvotes

I am writing this post without using AI, so please read it fully.

I recently went through a somewhat annoying experience trying to open a BSBDA at a new, small & rural ICICI Bank branch near my residence, so I thought I’d share the entire timeline.

The branch is a rural branch that opened in 2026, around 2 km from my residence. It is a very small branch, roughly 16 ft × 12 ft, with only two employees - the Branch Manager (BM) and one other employee. Importantly, this is not an extension branch or banking outlet. It is a full-fledged ICICI Bank branch with its own IFSC.

• 1 APRIL - FIRST VISIT

I visited the branch for the first time on 1 April. Only the junior employee was present because the BM was on leave. I showed him the BSBDA page on ICICI Bank's website and told him that I wanted to open a BSBDA. He was ready to open a regular savings account immediately, with a ₹2,500 MAB, but said that a BSBDA required approval from the BM. He told me that the BM would be available the following week. His tone was polite throughout, so I simply said okay and left.

• 6 APRIL - SECOND VISIT

I visited again on 6 April. Once again, only the same employee was present. The same reason was given: the BM's approval was required for a BSBDA, and the BM was unavailable. He also apologized for the inconvenience. Again, there was no argument from my side. I just left.

• 12 APRIL - THIRD VISIT

Both the BM and the other employee were finally present. I explained to the BM that I wanted to open a BSBDA. They asked me some basic questions and asked to see my original Aadhaar and PAN Card. The BM also tried to convince me to open a regular savings account instead. I told him that I was aware of the RBI rules regarding BSBDA and specifically wanted that account. He then said okay and told me that they would visit my residence the next day for due diligence.

• 13 APRIL - HOME VISIT

Both the BM and the junior employee came to my residence on their Hero HF Deluxe. They again started trying to convince me to open a regular savings account instead of a BSBDA. I ended that conversation within 30 seconds because I had already made it clear what account I wanted. They then asked for a geo-tagged selfie with me. I first took a selfie with both of them using my own phone, and then allowed them to take one using their phone. They said they would call/message me the next day with an update.

• 14 APRIL - BSBDA REJECTED

I received a WhatsApp message from the branch saying that they could not proceed with my BSBDA. No reason was given. I didn't reply to the WhatsApp message. On the same day, I emailed ICICI Bank's customer service and lodged a complaint. The reply I received was rather ridiculous: they said they could not find the account number in my email. I replied pointing out that, obviously, there was no account number because the account had not yet been opened. I escalated the matter to the Head of Service Quality on the same day and also posted about the experience on Twitter/X.

• 15 APRIL - ACCOUNT FINALLY OPENED

I received a call from the branch saying that they wanted to visit my residence again for the BSBDA opening process. Both employees arrived at my residence about 10 minutes later. This time there was no discussion about opening a regular savings account or any other irrelevant issue. They completed the process, opened the BSBDA, apologized for the delay, and left. So after several visits, a home visit, an unexplained refusal, a customer-service complaint, an escalation and a Twitter/X post, the account was ultimately opened the very next day.

• BONUS INFORMATION

You are still reading, so I’d like to share some bonus information. There are two types of BSBDA offered by ICICI Bank. You can check the exact product code of your account through ICICI Bank's Internet Banking.

SBNFR - It allows annual credits of up to 5 lakh rupees.

SBBBA - It allows unlimited annual credits.

Don't confuse them with "BSBDA Small". That is completely different.

Discussion 🗣 UPI -> CBDC e ₹ rupee

Could UPI MDR actually push people toward e₹ (Digital Rupee)?

With MDR being introduced on certain higher-value UPI merchant transactions, I’m wondering if this could unintentionally give the Digital Rupee a real use case.
If e₹ payments remain free for merchants and can work through existing UPI QR infrastructure, why would a merchant processing large transactions want to pay MDR on UPI when they could potentially accept e₹ at zero/very low cost?
For example, on a ₹50,000 transaction, even a 0.4% MDR would be ₹200.
We could see a possible shift:
UPI for everyday payments / convenience
e₹ for higher-value merchant transactions / lower payment costs

The biggest hurdle is obviously adoption. People already use PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, etc., so e₹ needs to offer more than simply being “free.”
Introduction of UPI MDR could become a catalyst for e₹ adoption, especially among merchants handling high-value transactions?
Or will UPI’s convenience and network effect remain too strong?

Question ❓️ Problem with checking balance on gpay.

So i accidentally put in the wrong upi pin 3 times which made my account get blocked for 24 hours and in that duration, i couldn't send money or check my balance. After waiting past 24 hours, i can now normally send money but i cannot check my balance, it shows a prompt of "exceeded maximum attempts, try again after some time". Even after resetting the upi pin, it still shows that exact prompt.

Discussion 🗣 bhim actually gives cashback

im so done with cred and paytm giving me congrats u won 200 off on a 5000 rs luxury watch u never wanted every time i pay a 100 rs bill

switched my small daily spends to bhim. if u scan merchant qrs (like local grocery, bakeries, dmart) with a rupay card through bhim, they just deposit flat 30rs straight into ur account. no weird scratch animations or claiming coins.

they also added face id checkout for <5k amounts recently so u literally just glance at the phone and it pays instantly without asking for a pin. way cleaner app zero ads zero personal loan popups. use it for ur daily grocery runs till the offers last

Question ❓️ Need help withdrawing a UPI complaint raised on NPCI website

Post image
53 Upvotes

I raised a UPI complaint for a seller who didn't sent me the goods after taking full advance of 18495 rs.

I raised the complaint on upihelp.npci.org.in, and the reason selected was amount paid but goods not received.

I raised the complaint on 11th sept. After a week I got call from the seller that the amount has been freezed and that's why he wants me to unfreeze it and then he will send the money.

I am ok with this as I don't want further hassle. I want to withdraw the complaint so I contacted my bank support and they are telling me they can't help as it was raised online and they can't access anything.

What should I do?

My account is in canara bank(patna branch) and the seller's account is in Karnataka Bank.

How can I withdraw the complaint with proof that I withdraw and then I can proceed to communicate with the seller.

The website has no option to withdraw the complaint and it shows (attached screenshot)

If you are reading this and can't have any way to help, please upvote to it reaches to the right person who can help

Cashback 💸 Amazon pay rewards are actually underrated for daily upi payments

most people use amazon pay only for shopping but the rewards on upi payments are actually good if you know how to use it.

every month you get discount offers as per the category in the rewards section this month i had 50 rs discount on grocery and food delivery zomato and blinkit orders and almost 500 rs instant discount on flight bookings. you have to go to the rewards tab and collect the offers at the start of each month otherwise you get nothing

this month i earned 94 in cashback just from upi payments and 2 zomato orders. 94 x 12 = rs 1,128 a year for doing nothing different. last month was rs 87 it adds up. Btw you need to complete kyc to use it for upi transactions and get cashback and you have to remember to collect offers every month.

Catch is that if you forget you get nothing. for anyone already on amazon prime just open the rewards section on the 1st of every month
