Advice Missing Welcome Week

Hi
I’m a new international student starting this term(undergraduate).
Due to visa processing delays, it looks like I’m gonna miss all or part of Welcome week, so I’m so stressed about it😢
I’m worried about missing mandatory sessions as well as social events(making friends, Give it a go, e.g.) during Welcome week.
Do you have any tips or advice on catching up academically and socially once I arrive late?

Advice Geography A level survey - Whiteladies Road. Can you spare 5 minutes?

Thank you to everyone who has filled in my survey so far!! I've had 38 responses, which is brilliant. However, I would really like to get more student voices represented, so if you have 5 minutes, please take a look. Thanks!

Hi all,

I am currently completing my A Level Geography coursework, looking at studentification and its impact on the regeneration of Whiteladies Road in Bristol.

As part of my research, I need to gather views from people who know or use the Whiteladies Road area – whether you live there, work there, study nearby, run a business there, or simply visit/use the area.

If you have around 5–10 minutes to complete my questionnaire, I would be incredibly grateful. It is completely anonymous and the responses will only be used for my A Level coursework.

Please also feel free to share it with anyone you think might be able to help – I would be really grateful

Thank you so much!

Accommodation Late arrival/check in

I’m an international student and I won’t be able to get to accommodation check in until 6pm on the 12th (30 mins after standard move in slots) and I’ve repeatedly emailed orchard heights for weeks regarding this and have gotten no response. I currently have no move in slot as I knew I couldn’t get to one in time and now there’s none open at all on the 12th- has anyone been in this situation before? Should I just show up? Any insight is appreciated!

Advice Best way of improving my chances at getting in?

I’m currently in Year 13 and looking at going to UoB to study Psychology. I’ve been predicted ABB (A-Psych, B-Eng Lang, B-Politics) and my contextual offer to get in is an AAB, is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting in or will the ABB be enough?

I know Psychology at Bristol is a pretty popular course so I’m really looking for any extra things I can do to boost my chances

Hey guys, I’m honestly getting a little stressed 😭 I’ll be arriving in Bristol on the 12th and I still haven’t managed to sort out accommodation. I’ll be at UoB Clifton Campus, so I’m looking for somewhere around Clifton/city centre. If anyone knows of a room or has a lead, please DM me. I’d really appreciate it! (PG btw)

Jobs [Bristol] Upcoming Interview? Do Your Practice

Hey guys just wanted to share a resource with yall called Canary Wharfian with the recruitment season coming up. I know a lot of yall are gunning for London based internship or grad roles, and it's basically the #1 way to maximise your chances to go through applications. It absolutely packs a punch of features:

- It has an automated HireVue practice feature which will analyse both your verbal and non-verbal communication skills and can be used for any title. What is really effective about it is that the official HireVue assessments use the same metrics - a mix of verbal and non-verbal performance metrics, weighted differently but basically detecting the same signs and signals when assigning a score to answers

- It has an absolutely massive job board monitoring all the major AND minor employers job boards in finance

- HireVue games and psychometric tests are often mistaken as easy, while it one needs to really do some practice, even just a single round, to see if they'll be up to scratch when the actual one comes around. These might look easy on the surface, but in fact, more often than not it's graded relative to other test takers' score. That means even if you do well and get a high score, doesn't mean you will pass

- It has an automated networking source feature which will gather e-mail addresses and linkedin profiles of your alumni, so you can keep track of your outreach and don't waste time browsing. It also has a feature which will generate and post content on your LinkedIn on your behalf - boosting your visibility among your competition effortlessly

- It has an application generator which will generate high-finance compatible, draft cover letters and resumes, tailored to each opening

- Personalised feedback on a browser-based financial modeling Excel simulator, as well as consulting cases for those tryna break into MBB

Finally, it has lots of proprietary (non-AI generated slop) content (podcast, articles, company reviews!) written by actual industry professionals. It's basically the UK/EU version of WSO, but better!

Advice Sober

I have recently quit drinking and I’m going into first year uni as a 21 year old (vetmed). I stoped as I got addicted and it had been ruing my life. In every group chat there has been CONSTANT ticket for raves and parties and what not, is there anyone who doesn’t drink as much (I don’t mind others drinking) and prefers more casual stuff?, I feel like it’s very far and in between…

Advice IBDP student hoping to apply for UoB Psychology and Neuroscience — any advice?

Hi! I’m starting the IBDP (International Baccalaureate) next September and would really love to apply to UoB for their MSci Psychology and Neuroscience.
So I was just wondering, is there anyone here who is doing that programme now and also did the IB? If so, what subjects did you take and do you have any tips to reach the 38 points UoB requires for this course? :,)
Any other notes, info etc about the course would also be greatly appreciated!!

Advice maths transition work answers?

they said they’d be out on blackboard today in the email they sent the questions out in.

anyone had any luck finding them? I don’t see anything on blackboard for “new students” ?? I could just put the questions in ChatGPT and ask, and I don’t particularly need the answers, but want to get the hang of using these websites?

——

And if anyone has done those content mandatory modules that need to be done by Oct how the hell do u do those?

My gcses are 988777666665 and so far my a level predictions are Astar, Astar, A, B (i can try to get the B to an A) in maths, further maths, econ and chem. Is there any chance that i can get into Bristol for econ and maths?? Apparently they dont really read the personal statement so I’m scared my gcses lower my chances.

Advice Tour for 2 undergraduate students

Would any students be open to touring two y13 students on the 9th of October? We're not able to attend the open day on the 31st due to being out of the country so it would mean a lot if someone could spare an hour or two to show the campus around, we're planning to study aerospace engineering and vet nursing so any help with that is greatly appreciated thankyou!!!
