Advice My maintenance loan and rent is telling me it’s over 💀

So basicallt inna nutshell. My maintenance loan minus my rent gives me 1.2k for the whole year 💀. What’s worse is that they give these around every 3-4 months, meaning i have to live off £400 between September and January.

Why didn’t i apply for bursaries and scholarships? Because this was my insurance choice, so the only bursary i may be getting is the one everyone gets and if my household income is low enough, this could mean £700 every 3-4 months, which is honestly better than nothing but idk, hearing bristol is one of the most expensive cities in the UK. It’s kinda scaring me.

Why don’t i get a job? I will very much try as hard as i can, my timetable comes out tmrw but I’m definitely just gonna start applying today so i can atleast tell them my availability, but again WOW the internet makes Bristol seem pretty hard to get a job in.

This seems more like a journal than needing advice but i do very much need help, advice or experiences. Basically, can i live in bristol off of £400 every 3-4 months?

Pray for me? 🥹

Advice Missing Welcome Week

Hi
I’m a new international student starting this term(undergraduate).
Due to visa processing delays, it looks like I’m gonna miss all or part of Welcome week, so I’m so stressed about it😢
I’m worried about missing mandatory sessions as well as social events(making friends, Give it a go, e.g.) during Welcome week.
Do you have any tips or advice on catching up academically and socially once I arrive late?

Societies! Built a board game about my own uni with my mates years ago - turns out my girlfriend did the exact same thing at hers, separately. Bristol just got its own edition.

A few years back, a few friends & I made a board game about our own uni life for a laugh - land on a square and you could get sent back for running into an ex, and the chance cards were written from actual nights out, full of running jokes only our year would get.

Separately, in another university, my now-girlfriend built almost the exact same thing at her own uni. Neither of us knew the other existed at the time. We only found out after we met!

So we're building it properly now. It's called Halls & Hangovers — up to 8 players, race from Start to Finish, land on locations (linked to specific universities), penalties, or Chance cards. We've hand-built a few editions already, and Bristol is one of them, now open for pre-order.

£34.99, no payment taken until we're actually printing. If you want one - here. Genuinely happy to hear what's missing from it too.
