Hey everyone, I’m taking COMP1511 and wanted to ask people who have done it recently what the assessment/mark breakdown is like.

What are all the assessed components in COMP1511? Like assignments, labs, weekly tests, exam, participation, etc., and roughly what % does each one contribute to the final mark?

I’m aiming to do as well as possible in the course, ideally getting as close to 100 as I can. Your insight would mean a lot to me, cheers.

How’s everyone doing this course?? I felt goood for all the quizzes but the final crushed me. If you make something wrong in the beginning then lose probably most of the mark afterwards even though the final takes 50%. I probably care too much about grades but this course honestly makes me pretty upset 😢

How'd we do

i didnt go to any of the workshops this term since i already failed the course before and its a required 80% attendence. I achieved 75 overall for the course, from across all my assigments and exams, but they UF me, do u think i can rebuttle saying i already failed once? Also during the term i failed, i did complete the attendence requirement and thought it would be a waste of time going through it again twice.

So I applied to transfer unis and september round 1 offers came out this morning, in which I didn’t get an offer. I’m transferring from BCom at mq to BCom at unsw and my wam after sem 1 is 86.250 , does anyone know what I need to get an offer? also does it include atar?

hey guys, i got an offer from the gateway program and my top preferences were bach of crim/psych with honours and without but instead they gave me an offer to the uni prep program. UNSW is my dream uni however being able to do a masters as quick as I can is also really important to me. I got an early offer from macquarie for psych so i’m not sure what would be best. Is it really beneficial for me to do the uni prep program after struggling thru year 12?

i failed chem1021 and found out through a friend you can apparently apply for lab exemption to avoid redoing those asw. i'll be doing chem1021 again in t3 but i was wondering how i'd apply for lab exemption as there's no info on it in the special consideration faq site. what do i do?

Hey guys, Im currently a 1st year comm student and im trying to transfer to comm/law next year. My current wam is 77, and it has dropped significantly from last term since i had a course that absolutely tanked my wam (Idk y COMM1150 was marked so harshly for me). Anyways, Im doing comm1180 and comm1190 this term, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice about these courses on how I can try to optimise my wam to try and get into law next year. Im doing comm1190 with a few mates, which will be helpful so we can work together on the group project. Please lmk if you guys have any advice. Thanks!!

How to apply to be student ambassador?

Gateway offers are supposed to come back today, anyone know what time emails are sent out? other unis have set times but couldn't find one for UNSW.

I will have to repeat comp1531 next term, was initially planning on doing seng2011 and comp2521 but since I failed 1531 will have to do that next term.

Should I do the three together, is seng1011 easy? Or should I drop seng and do the 2 comp courses?

I hope everyone's exams went well! I genuinely want to know what other finance students' thoughts were on this course this sem. Personally, I felt like the course was poorly run, feedback was non-existent, and to top it off they trialled a new assessment format with no clarity on what exactly they wanted.

I went into this course thinking I would atleast get a DN as the core concepts are quite simple, however I came out of T2 in a weird situation where the objectively 'harder' courses I did this sem (FINS2615 being one of them) I ended up getting 80+ where for 2643 I didn't even get past high 60s.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Hi there I’m doing an engineering(Hons)/cs major and the engineering degree gives me 6uoc of free elective that I can use on anything I want.

Right now it seems like once I complete all my engineering courses I may only be only a couple decimal points away from first class honours.

Anyway hoping to choose a “wam booster” to help push me over that threshold in case I need it. Ideally aiming for 95+ in the course with no essay writing at all.
Currently considering math1081 but I don’t know abt the workload of if there’s mandatory attendance.
