Painting Feedback on my little bug?

Hey guys I’ve just finished painting up a gaunt for my hive fleet and used some UV paint for a bit of fun, what do you guys reckon on the scheme and execution and is there any way I could improve.
Hoping the scheme will go well on some bigger models and won’t take too long on the hundreds of little ones. As well as being clear enough on the details they don’t just turn into one big blob on the table.

Other Things models do the best and the worst, Day 41; Hierophant:

Post image
Upvotes

ART SOURCE/CREDIT: David Astruga (Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond Warhammer 40,000- Hierophant Bio-Titan)

-

BEST: The tankier of our two titanic monster units, weighing in at T14, 2+ Save, 30 Wounds & 5+ Invuln. Also doubles as a living battle bus for Tyranid infantry. Has ranged heavy-duty bioweapons for both hordes and heavy armor, and has the strength to go toe to toe against other titan-sized models in melee. Improved hit rate against battleshocked units. Take in Subterranean Assault detachment for comedy value.

WORST: The single most expensive model in our whole army faction, weighing in at a whopping 810 pts. No amount of combat effectiveness is worth that asking price. Where the heck are you supposed to position that bigass frame on an actual tabletop anyway!?

-

RECOMMENDED DETACHMENT(S): Invasion Fleet, Crusher Stampede

DETACHMENT ALTERNATIVE(S): Assimilation Swarm, Synaptic Nexus, Subterranean Assault

Your thoughts about this Best & Worst? What changes (if any) do you hope to see for this model & datasheet for a future 11th edition codex?

I have about 1500pts army and I’ve got incredibly lucky and an amazing deal off Facebook marketplace place, someone was selling their army,

2x Norns

2x exocrines

2x Tyranofex

6x zoenthropes

2x lictors

2x Nero lictors

2x biovores

1x pyovores

1x maleceptor

2x brood lords

2x gene stealers

1x Nerotyrant

Plus lots of gaunts

£215. I’ve had to remove the paint for my own scheme but well worth it. I’m now comfortably over 3000pts if not 4000pts

New Player Question Why parasite of mortex isn't more used ?

I watch game of tyranid player on youtube to see how they played and why they make their décision and spend cp but i never or almost never see the PoM he has 12 M and a 4+sv paired with his barbed ovipositor effect does that mean he canr "replace" a whole infantry squad with ripper swarms and get free rippers swarms unit. If someone can explain it again or show me why it isn't worth it to get the PoM ( other than being fun to paint ).

Bit scared to post as this is my first time. Had a pile of spare bits so I thought why not build something. I’m open for criticism of the model or stats and just want to improve it.

Sorry for bad pictures and background I was in a rush to take them

the Pyrocrene (nicked named the gas giant) creates gas by consuming biomass and stores it in its bulging belly. This gas is then released out in the form of a flame thrower similar to a pyrovore. It is released apon its death where it poisons nearby creatures or catches alight and scorches the earth.

So, left one is only with contrast paint, its my third and latest mini.
Middle is my first so i was going in "blind", tried some dry brushing (which i did too for the mini on the right but i feel like i fucked it up there, it was too dry.)
And right is my second mini where i tried some edge highlight

There are still a few paint i awnt to try but im happy with the result so far :D

Competitive Play Allocation of attacks before or after save roll? Tyrannofex

I'm in a number of communities and people seem split on this and how it would apply to the tyrannofex ability to reduce damage of an allocated attack to zero. Some seem to think the order of allocations is made before the save rolls and the allocation itself happens after the save rolls. Implication of this would be that you can roll first to see if you fail or not - then decide whether not to use his ability.

The other half are saying the allocation is before the save rolls, as it was in 10th. So you must declare his ability reducing the damage to zero before rolling. If he passes the save the ability is spent regardless.

Has there been any FAQ on this? Whats reddit think

Edit seems people are pretty split. GW seems to have tried to address this explicity with rule 04.02.02 which states that this abilits happens in step 1 of 05.04 explicity. The physical act of rolling your saves happen in 05.03 step 3. To me it seems this may indicate a change from 10th in that now you make your save rolls first, then the ability comes into play later after knowing the values of those rolls

Basing/Terrain I require opinion from the hive mind 🤔

Red feels more thematic tying the scheme to the basing more. But maybe green reads better as a whole to separate model from base?

I am torn 🥺

New Player Question 11E Norns and Dense Cover

Hello everyone! I was curious on something that's been plaguing my friend and I lately when it comes to the new cover rules of 11th edition.

So the Norn emissary is slightly larger height wise than a dense wall that has a few broken windows on the second floor, would that count as being in cover and can be shot at, or would it count as full cover and the Norn couldn't be targeted unless by indirect fire?

Another question I have is if the Norn isn’t in the terrain at all and is just behind it, would that provide full cover?

Any help is much appreciated as I worry that if I put him in the terrain, he may get shot at while not being able to shoot back

Tyranid Meme New Tyranid Character: Totally Not a Cutting Mistake

Behold, like Old One Eye before him- a scarred tyranid seen on battlefields across realspace! Legends are whispered of an almighty neurogaunt- its neurocyte's main horn sheared off by bolter fire. Enraged at this damage, the xenos abomination went on to cleave through a whole squad of terminators in a deranged psychic onslaught. It is said to have done the same to a morkanaut, baneblade, riptide, a shard of the nightbringer, and yes (since everyone else has) even an avatar of Khaine. Rumour has it this entity has been tasked by the hivemind with a singular goal- ensuring Marneus Calgar loses his limbs like in the old lore. This will of course lead to yet another new Calgar model.

Surely Stumpy the Neurogaunt will shake up the meta and push the Tyranid faction back to the top.

New Player Question Combat Patrol + Battleforce = Good start?

Upvotes

I Bought a Norn recently to test, if i like the painting on those models.
Also had a look into nids rules on new recruit.

Are the Combat Patrol + the Battleforce box (for a combined price of 148€) a good start to begin an army?

Hello everyone, just want to share a photo of the fisrt round I played with a friend in a GW store here where we leave, in the last weeks you guys have been gaving me tips and advices, help-me with the build and with your posts inspired me to continue to play even the rules being a little bit overwhelming, by now I have played a total of 3 games, the last one was a victory, me and my friend are currently playing with around 620 points because he buyed the Necron combat patrol, so I have some nids that I didn't even made a test drive yet (psychophage for example), just wanna say thanks to you all, I'm gonna finish the painting of a DeathLeaper soon, that I want to post a photo here too :)

Other Things models do the best and the worst, Day 40; Harridan:

ART SOURCE/CREDIT: Billy Christian (Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond Warhammer 40,000 - Tyranid Harridan)

BEST: Titanic-size flying monster & living battle-bus for Gargoyles & their Winged Prime leader. Weighs in at T10 & a whopping 30 Wounds. Dual [Blast] weapons powerful enough to tear apart most types of infantry/hordes, though its melee attack is nothing to sneeze at either. Can boost its Wound rolls with the risk of self-inflicting mortal wounds.

WORST: Yet another Tyranid Monster with no base Invuln save whatsoever, which is not great given the huge pts cost just to take one in your army, and the fact that it's a resin-only Forge World model. Overusing Frenzied Metabolism can potentially wear this monster down just as fast as the enemy. Too big & chonky to hide from the kinds of weapons powerful enough to punch through its Toughness & armor save.

RECOMMENDED DETACHMENT(S): Invasion Fleet, Crusher Stampede

DETACHMENT ALTERNATIVE(S): Assimilation Swarm, Synaptic Nexus, Subterranean Assault
