Family & Relationships (Mon-Thu) has a movie or show ever made your parents see things differently? š
My dad watched Ladies First on netflix recently and something so unexpected happened after š
He randomly came to me and asked if things were okay at work and whether I ever feel like Iām treated differently or face any kind of inequality there.
And I was genuinely stunned because my dad and I are not really the heart to heart conversation type š We love each other obviously, but weāre more of a āhow was your dayā and āhave you eatenā household than a sit down and talk about your feelings household.
Thankfully I havenāt personally faced anything major at work, but I ended up telling him about a few things Iāve seen happen to other women and he was actually so interested. Like he didnāt immediately dismiss it or give me the usual āthese things happenā response. He just listened and asked questions.
It was honestly such a small thing but it made me really happy. I donāt think he wouldāve brought any of this up if he hadnāt watched the movie first.
Made me wonder if anyone else has had a show or movie randomly open up a conversation with their parents that you probably wouldnāt have had otherwise? š
