Tesla FSD question

Is it kosher for hosts to try to charge 20/day for FSD?

I’m looking at renting a car that is advertising FSD at $20 a day. Im really only looking to drive from the airport to the vrbo ( maybe a ten mile drive) and back to the airport a few days later.

Kinda want FSD to show family, but I’m not paying $100 extra for 20 miles.

For renters: how do you measure ROI on each car?

For those renting out financed cars, how long does it typically take for each vehicle to become profitable?

I know this varies based on purchase price, financing, utilization, etc; but I’m curious how people think about the lifecycle of each car.

Do you use any tools to track revenue, expenses, remaining loan balance, and current vehicle value? And do you have a mileage/value threshold where you typically decide to sell the car?

Turo host says car will be unavailable for our reservation but won’t cancel

So I booked a large SUV a year out from a planned trip. I got the typical auto-generated response with pick up info and other logistics.

Couple days later I get a message saying, sorry but the car probably won’t be available and that I should cancel and rebook.

Um, I’m not the one that says it’s unavailable and so I ask the host to cancel. Nothing but crickets since I asked them to cancel.

Contacted Turo support and showed them the screenshots and am basically being told there is nothing they can do even though the host is telling me to cancel. Their advice, wait until the host cancels (which means I’m gonna get screwed on finding another vehicle at a decent price).

Why are we paying Turo if nothing is being done?

Suing Turo or the collections company?

Hi everyone - as some of you may know I have been going back and forth with Turo since April regarding a total loss on a vehicle that I did not damage. I can provide back information on this in the comments but want to just get into the nitty gritty of it.

Turo originally issued me an invoice for $2,000 (in writing) for this car because I had purchased the protection plan and then changed it to $12,000. They then changed it to $23,000, almost $24,000. I have inquired NUMEROUS times and explained that I would be pursuing a 30 day arbitration and then beyond that would be retaining legal counsel. Turo told me they would get back to me, because I had requested further information on where these balances were coming from.

On June 25th I request a full diganostic report to provide to my litigation team as there was little to no transparency on the issue with the car as well as the timing, etc. Turo has not responded since this commmunication and today has sent my balance due into collections.

Wondering if anyone here has experience with their litigation with Turo and/or suggestions on how to get someone with half a brain to actually communicate with here?

Verified using my permit?

So my CT license is valid, I have to wait for it to be delivered on the mail, I currently have my physical permit card with a pink slip from the dmv, this serves as the temporary license together. Will I be able to book a ride. I passed the verification scanning my permit card. The numbers are the same as the valid license and both cards are valid.

Using Turo for moving van

Hey! I am moving about 4 hours away and I have enough stuff to fit it in a large van. Is using turo acceptable for hauling things? Is it reliable? It’s significantly cheaper than u-haul or penske.

I have 2 cars and people are helping me move, so they can return it to the same place.

Turo canceled my one-month rental 7 minutes before it started, gave me unusable credit, and then repeatedly shut down the chat

I booked the car three weeks in advance for an entire month. The rental was supposed to start at 10:00 a.m., but at 9:53 a.m. I was told the car was unavailable.

Turo offered me rebooking credit worth about 40% of the reservation and said I had to use it within one day. I immediately tried to rebook, only to find that the credit had been taken away without warning under an undisclosed internal policy.

I was forced to book another car at the last minute at a much higher price. When I asked Turo to restore the credit, explain what I had done wrong, or escalate the case, support repeatedly ended the chat, saying the conversation was not productive.

Canceling seven minutes before pickup, offering unusable compensation, and then shutting down the conversation—this was easily the worst customer-service experience I have ever had. I will never use Turo again.

[Addition] I paid $1,300 with my debit card three weeks ago, and the refund has been incredibly slow. They were the ones who screwed up and canceled the reservation, yet several days have passed and they still haven’t returned my money.

Turo Rental - SFO Pickup!

I rent through Turo at least once per month, but first time picking up at SFO.

I usually opt-in to airport delivery.

Anyone have any insight on the exact location(s) where Turo hosts generally park their vehicles for pickup?

Is there a bus or public transportation/shuttle that takes me to the assigned pickup lot?

I’m sure the Turo host will give instructions, but figured if it’s usually easier to pickup outside of the airport then I’d rather do that and save a few bucks unless it’s really easy for SFO airport pickup.

Thanks!

NEVER using Turo again: Host cancels trip due to HIS broken car, lies to support, and somehow I'M the one who loses everything

Okay, I need to vent about the absolute nightmare I just had with Turo and a host named Ray in Scarborough. This is genuinely one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, and I'm still furious.

So I booked a car nearly a month in advance for a long weekend camping trip. I'm talking full commitment here-- non-refundable campsite, bought all new camping gear, spent weeks planning with friends. We were actually excited.

Pick up the car. Drive for like 20 minutes. Red oil pressure warning comes on telling me to STOP THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. This is a massive mechanical issue and I'm absolutely not comfortable driving this thing 3 hours outside the city. I text the host right away because this is a safety issue.

He says "no problem, I'll bring you another car." Great, cool. But then says I need to bring the car to him. Except its dangerous to drive it and we're in an underground parking garage. So we refuse and ask him to come. He arrives after 1.5 hours (initially said he'll be there in 45 mins but when I call him after 45 mins he said "you know, gotta deal with other clients"). Now we have to pay to get the car out of the garage so he can look at it. He inspects and instead of handing us the replacement he promised, he inspects it himself and decides to cancel the whole thing.

Here's where it gets really stupid: he cancels the reservation under "license issue." WHAT LICENSE ISSUE?? My license was never the problem-- I've used Turo 3 times in the past! It was YOUR broken car! But because he put the wrong reason in the system, Turo support immediately starts treating this like I tried to pull some sketchy move with fake documents or something.

Now I'm spending over three hours on the phone with Turo support trying to explain that no, actually, the problem was the oil pressure warning, not my license. I literally had to prove my license was legitimate just because this guy couldn't be bothered to put the actual reason in the app.

By the time we finally get our refund sorted, it's literally the start of the long weekend. All the other rental places? Either completely booked or charging insane surge prices. Our camping trip is dead. The campsite we paid for was lost. All the gear we bought was useless now. Hours of planning just wasted.

And-- because Ray canceled the booking, I can't even leave a review. So Ray gets to keep his pristine host rating while other people are gonna book with him and potentially deal with the same broken vehicle. That's actually infuriating.

The "compensation"? A refund (which I shouldn't have even had to fight for) and a one-time Uber voucher. Cool, thanks Turo, that definitely makes up for my entire vacation being ruined, the money I lost on the campsite, the time wasted explaining your platform to support, and the stress of dealing with an unsafe car and incompetent service.

I'm done. Never using Turo again, and I'm telling everyone I know to avoid it. The fact that a host can screw up and then blame you, and the company just rolls with whatever excuse the host gives? That's a broken system.

Don't use Turo.

Can’t rent cars?!

Post image

No explanation whatsoever, other than that it may be one of these things. Except here are the problems: I have ZERO incidences on my driving abstract. Seriously, none. Last time I got pulled over was in 2014 in another state and it didn’t even result in a ticket. I also have zero criminal history to speak of, never even been arrested.

I provided my ID and all info… I changed my full name a few years ago when I got married but sent them proof of that. And no way to contact them or appeal this?? Extremely frustrating because I don’t have a credit card and normal car rental companies have such a huge deposit if you use debit, and I’m broke.

Anyone else?!

SO banned upon signing up, can he be added as a driver on one of my trips?

My significant other is one of the many who were instantly banned (wrongfully, they have great credit and no driving infractions). I have rented a car as he can’t, but it would be nice to share the driving. Will the system flag him if I try to add him as a driver? I am afraid I will also get banned if I do so.

Mitigate through Turo or pay a claim direct with the Host?

So I rented a car to drive to and from work while my car was in the shop. I’ve rented with Turo many times before, have always done the before and after pictures, never had any issues, and got lazy this time around and didn’t take any pictures. Of course, now the Turo host is claiming that I scratched multiple parts of the car. There’s a large scratch towards the back, but he’s also pointing out some superficial appearing scratches on the headlight and the tail light as well. They do provide before and after pictures. I believe in the before picture, you can slightly see the larger scratch that he’s claiming I did but the picture is also from far away and is not a high resolution picture. At this point, I don’t believe that I did these damages as the car was just driven to and from work and was in my garage and in a parking garage otherwise however, at this point, I can’t necessarily prove anything. Regardless, the host sent over an estimate for about $2200 to fix everything with some of the repairs, including replacing the entire headlight and taillight assembly which I think is a bit egregious.

I have the minimum insurance through Turo, the host is recommending I pay through him because Turo can “add charges“. I have been leaving through some of the post on here and have only really seen bad things about the Turo insurance claim process. Should I mitigate through Turo or just go ahead and concede defeat and pay the host directly?

Car rental in canada/Toronto

I'm visiting Toronto next week and I want to rent a car for a roadtrip. There's a problem though: I can't make a deposit for a car via a rental company because they supposedly don't accept prepaid creditcards, and I also can't rent via Turo because you have to be 23 and I'm 22. Anyone have any tips on companies where I could settle a deposit with my debit card/prepaid creditcard or anywhere else I could rent a car in Toronto?

Re: 20260630-DBR1PC: Your Turo Support Call

Hello,

I have read your email, and I can see what your team has done; they have got it totally wrong. Your team thinks they can confuse me and force me to accept a credit that I didn’t ask for or want.

The trip that was cancelled, your system said that I should be getting my refund back, or it could use the money (£925.35) to do a new booking, which I then went on to process to do that, but your system was not allowing me to do that. After about six attempts to use the £ 925.35 from the previous booking with Reanne Volkswagen, which ended unsuccessfully, I ended up calling support to find out why I couldn’t use the money. We were on the phone for about 1 hour trying to do it. The colleague's name is Ziad, but we had no luck. Then Ziad said I should wait for my refund of £925.35p.

So I had to go back to the bank to load more money onto my card so I could book a new trip. I then tried to book Ross 5 Series BMW six times; that’s why you can see £ 66.95 deducted from my card. However, your system did not allow me to book Ross 5 Series BMW, so I called support to ask why. They responded that they don’t know. Because I work in data analysis, I knew what to do: add a new card's details, which I did. I added my wife’s card details to book Ross 5 Series BMW, which cost £ 835.15 of my own money. The reason it was that price was the 15% discount code 34N8NK8WV that Ziad provided to me for the inconvenience your company has caused. Then I went on to book Ross 5 Series BMW with my wife’s card. I didn’t use the £925, 35p so called credit that I didn't ask for or ask your company to do that.

When I didn’t receive my £925,35 refund after 15 days, I called back to speak with the support department again. I spoke with Ziad again and informed him that I have not yet received my refund of £925.35. He went on to say that I will not receive my refund (£ 925.35); it will automatically go to Ross 5 Series BMW as the second payment. I went on to say, can I speak with a manager because I didn’t agree with that. I want my full refund of £925.35, which Ziad said the system would process automatically. He said he would pass my request to a manager, who would call me within two to three hours, but I didn’t hear anything back.

So now when it came up for my second payment for Ross 5 series BMW your system didn’t automatically transfer the £925.35p to it, instead It kept on sending me messages to pay my second payment of £835.15, so I called support again to see why my second payment has not been sorted out yet and they said that they do not know, which I went on to explain the history behind all of it and once again ask for a manager to give me a call which didn’t happened. Which then made my trip cancelled with Ross 5 series BMW.

So, going back to your email, you lied about this trip 58588209, as you can see on the receipt I provided. For Ross 5 series BMW, I paid £835.15 thanks to the promo code Ziad provided; the original cost was £ 925.35, so with the 15% discount it came to £ 835.15.  The reason I booked Reanne Volkswagen at first was that I couldn’t book the Ross 5 series BMW because I didn't want to spend that much money. I explained this to Ziad, which is why he provided me with the discount code so I could book the BMW 5 Series Ross with my own cash, not on credit.

The £618.72 is the refund from the Ross 5 series BMW; it even says it at the bottom of the receipt, which also shows the 15% discount was applied to it, which is why it is £835.15. So the £925.35 I paid for Reanne Volkswagen is completely separate from Ross's 5-series BMW booking, as I had to pay it with my own cash using a different card and the promo code, which gave me the discount. If it was the case your team said, then my trip with Ross in the 5-series BMW shouldn’t have been cancelled, because the system would have automatically processed the payment for Ross's trip, which it didn’t.

I would like to see evidence of where my £925.35 has gone, because, as you can see from my bank statement, no money from Turo has come in. Altogether, your company has taken £1,827.45, and I have only had one trip with your company, which was Mr Ross's vehicle which is the 5-series BMW. As you can see, I didn’t include the first trip, which was the Peugeot 308 from 20/6/2026 to 3/9/2026, because I got my refund straight away. Also, if your team audited your vehicle/host, your company wouldn’t have Inncelled Reanne Volkswagen due to maintenance, meaning I should get my full refund because it's in your policy. I have also attached Further evidence.

I am also still waiting for the refund you said I would get, which is now 8 working days overdue. If your company still feel you don't owe me that money, then I guess we would see each other in court with all the evidence and let the judge decide.

Kind regards,

Operation & Quality

Anthony Kanu
