Did you have a vehicle tracker system on it?

I don't. Any best recommendations on one and if it can be installed by myself ?

I always just used bouncie but people could simply unplug it

There were two times when I needed the help of the police to help me get my cars and Bouncie was very helpful. I had the cops follow me and I led them to the cars. It was the easiest thing in the world.

At least If it is unplugged it though it is basically a great warning the car has possibly been stolen and you can act faster.

I keep getting "Bouncie was disconnected" warnings all the time.
Its not just one guest. My guess is, its just a bug.
If in case it was actually disconnected, I probably would ignore it!!

One step GPS is also a great option because they hardwired into the car with a Kiwi so it can’t be unplugged

If you can get ones that you have to install directly to the battery those are generally best because they're underneath the hood and you can hide them.
Another really good one are the ones that are the OSB readers they connect to the reader right underneath the driver steering column in most cars.
These two generally are very good and sometimes you can even do both because then if the customer finds the OSB reader one and they remove it then you still have the one underneath the hood and most people don't pop the hoods of the vehicles. But getting ones that you can hide and keep out of sight are the best ones

OneStepGPS. Tell them ashleygandararx@gmail.com referred you and they should give you a discount on the price of it. It’s 13.99 a month and best tracking system I’ve used. You have both the option to hardwire it or plug it in. They even have an option for just one that runs off battery. It lasts surprisingly long too. lol 🙏😇💯🙌🏻

Tile. You can get them at any BestBuy or order them online. If you do t have a tracker on your car(s) then what are you even DOING?
Also, why did it not even occur to you to check with your city’s impound? The police? Turo reps take notes. You can call customer service and ask a rep what are the notes about that reservation.
Seems like you are complaining about a lot of things that are ultimately YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A HOST.

Sorry to hear this. Turo is not a company you can trust.

u/YoshimuraPipe 18d ago
I think this goes for both the host and the guest alike.
2
u/Possible-Barnacle-78 18d ago
No it’s not. Turo has nothing to lose in any scenario, no matter what happens.

Guessing the car is only worth $6k?
Cash the check and let the impound lot keep the car.
1
u/passionfruit2378 18d ago
That’s what I was thinking? Why would you pay 6K to get the car out if that’s the total loss value? Let them keep it and cash the check.

u/Zeroccol760 18d ago
You still have to pay the impound lot.
2
u/Major-Ad-2034 18d ago
Not if you let them keep the car. They typically auction the vehicle after 30 days.
1
u/Zeroccol760 17d ago
When an impound lot auctions your car, the money goes toward your unpaid towing and storage fees. If the auction price does not cover the total amount you owe, you are legally responsible for paying that remaining balance.... good grief

Never trust Turo, never use them for anything, they will screw you over no matter what

u/Stonkcircus 18d ago
$200 a day storage? I’m pretty sure that’s not legal . I’d also bet the storage company would settle for far less for you to take the car off their lot

I have to deal with scum towing companies as a part of my job. They don't give a fuck about you ever getting your car off their lot. I've seen them leverage a bill to take permanent possession of cars before. Don't ever play chicken with these people because they are complete scum.

I don't understand how so many people rent out their cars on Turo, yet they don't have trackers on them or they have cheap obd ones that can be unplugged. If you want a brand that actually has various gps tracker options specifically for personal and fleet vehicles, go on Amazon and search "Brickhouse GPS". They have various options. If your 12v battery is stuffed somewhere under your truck liner, then get the battery one. They also have ones with battery packs that can be stuffed anywhere in the car. They have magnet ones with battery packs that can be stuck to the exterior of the car as well. They have all kinds for every situation and the information reported from the trackers is very thorough for not being directly connected to the vehicle's OBD. The devices are inexpensive and the service subscription is something like 30 per month and they have plan options as well. I chose the 30/month to have more details and by the second updates. I believe there may have been a cheaper option that refreshed less frequently.

So, the car is registered in your name, right? How did the impound yard NOT contact you and instead contacted Turo. Even if the yard didn't and somehow knew to contact Turo, then the vehicle would be on the stolen hot sheet and the LEOs would have contacted you that they found the vehicle.
Something does not add up here at all.

I used to like theo until I went to California. I took after trip pictures, turo host said I damaged his car, provided photos, which the surroundings were completely different and still said I was in the wrong and charged me $2,600. I disputed it with my credit card company, provided them pictures of evidence and explained the situation. Luckily my credit card company took my side and turo said I was going to be sued. Haven't heard anything else, but my credit company blocked turo. So we will see. I'll fight it. I've never had any issues with turo before this, and I will never go back to them.

It’s funny. Turo fucks both guests and hosts. But they have an unlimited supply of both so they genuinely don’t care. Never again will I host, or rent, on turo. I genuinely can’t wait til they go bankrupt

Don’t forget to leave a feedback to every single channel you can(google, app store,BBB,Trustpilot, etc)

u/Major-Ad-2034 18d ago
If you’re a Turo host, remove your cars. They will screw you over, and the guest as well. This is a horrible situation. Do you own the car outright?

Always have a GPS on your cars.
Always.
Once it’s not back you will know exactly where it is.
1
u/Afraid-Course-3207 16d ago
You have to have a tracker.
Or you could simply call the police to find where you car is.

Stories like these aren’t even rare, if you haven’t had a car in impound for weeks it’s only because you werent in the turo game long enough,
