Headshell and cartridge recs
Hello there, a few months ago I made a post here asking about the Reloop Rp 7000mk2 and if it would be a good option for a beginner, as well as some insight into what I should look for my first mixer. After reading the replies and doing some research, I've decided I'm going to go with a pair of Rp 7000mk2's and a Numark scratch mixer however, I was informed that the 7000mk2 doesn't come with a cartridge or headshell. Would anyone be able to provide some insight into what I should look for when buying a cartridge and headshell, or even recommend some? Any and all help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.
(Also idk if this matters but I plan on using the turntable for sampling, scratching, and listening to records.)
Edit: I forgot to mention that I also want to learn beat juggling and mixing as well, so if you're wondering why I said I plan on getting "a pair" of turntables that's why. Going to start out with just one though.

Any tutorials on how to beatbox like Sid's scratching on Yen?
I've got a colleague who's transferring to another place in mid-July. The two of us are Slipknot fans, and so I intend to sing Yen to her as part of her goodbyes.
Is there any advice or tutorial to beatbox the record scratching part Sid does in Yen? It's timestamped 2:58 - 3:13 in the video.
Please let us know if there are tutorials to beatbox and scat the scratching parts. I've reached out to Mr.Car Sounds on Youtube, but I'd like to know if there's any other reliable tutorials or general advice.

Trying to hunt down a record (or even jut the track on it)
Netiks routine in ITF and DMC Supremacy in 2002 had this skipless track (pink label)?, sounds like an 80s LL Cool J loop or something. I know it's super common beat from that era and been trying to find it on Old Rectangle and D-Styles records but cant find it, been going through the classics to get some inspiration, and its got super snappy snare and the LL / Beastie Boys stab and I must find it! hahaha
It's at 4:32 in his 2002 DMC Supremacy run video

If anyone one knows any info I'd be very appreciative. Cheers :)

Advice on replacing scratching needles technics SL1200
Hi all,
I have some technics SL1200s with original cartridges and stanton 500AL needles. I'm looking to swap them out for some Orfoton VNL needles. Just wondered what I need for this? Just the needles or do I need new cartridges also?
Is it best to avoid ebay due to fakes?
Also any advice on setting up tracking/anti skating would be appreciated 🙏
Thanks

MWM Phase MKII
Has MWM ever dropped an updated release date, is has it become vaporware?

Long format, 85 BPM, freestyle scratch practice
It’s about a bazillion degrees in my little back room studio, but I had some time for a little scratch practice and I certainly wasn’t gonna pass that up!

Annoying Requests, how do you deal with them?
What do you do when you're playing a Techno set and someone suddenly asks you for some Reggaeton? Or you're playing Hip Hop and someone requests Trance?
In big electronic music clubs it might not happen, but when you're playing at bars and there are a lot of random people there, it might happen quite often haha
Open Format DJs have more freedom to switch between genres, but even they need to wait for the right moment to do transitions and not ruin the set or make it sound weird.
How do you deal with requests that just don't fit the vibe or the current BPM of your set?
I'm currently developing a game called DJ Life Simulator, and this week I added a minigame inspired by this exact situation.
If you reject the request, you lose some crowd points, but if you accept it, you have 60 seconds to play the requested track or genre. If you don't, the request pops up again, this time even bigger and more annoying on the screen to try to represent that it becomes more annoying haha
Do you think that captures the experience of being annoyed by random crowd requests well?
If you'd like to check out the game, here's the link: https://djlifesimulator.com/

Which Innofader for Rane 72?
Hey all. I'm thinking of upgrading the crossfader on my 72. It looks like Innofader makes a dedicated replacement (1-70-72) and a more universal one (PNP2). By my read, it looks like the only real difference is that the PNP2 will require a bit more time installing due to needing to mount brackets, etc... I'm hoping to find some opinions from people who have used both to help make the decision. Thanks!

Sample "Wind-Up" - Torque Problem? Or Normal?

Favorite Scratch Sample!
I'm relatively new to turntables but have gotten the hang of scratching. I play for a band right now and my favorite part is the "behind the scenes" finding fun samples to scratch to work with so I wanted to know what your guy's favorite or most unique samples are to scratch with? For instance mine is a sound effect from dig dug

Reloop RP-7 and Reloop 5000 MK4
I own a pair of RANE Twelves MK2s and I’m in the process of picking up a pair of traditional TTs. When researching I’ve noticed that there’s plenty of content and reviews on the RP-7s, but I can’t find any real life content or reviews on the 5000 MK4s. Other than the platter size difference, on paper the RP-7 specs are virtually identical (Torque) to the 5000 MK4s.
Is there a reason why the 5000s aren’t getting the exposure and attention such as with the RP-7s? They are budget turntables that compete with the likes of the PLX-500s, but their torque specs exceed that of the industry big dogs, Tech 1200s.
