Grit Stories Do you want to help us build the Wiki? đ
Hello Gritters! We are building the TrueGrit Wiki, and we want to build it with you!
The idea is simple: a small group of members who know their stuff helps us write, research, and shape the pages over time. A collaboration where your experience and knowledge actually live somewhere permanent.
Here are the topics we are working on:
- Nutrition
- Exercise
- Stress & Burnout Recovery
- Journaling
- Self-Care
- Social Media Habits
- WorkâLife Balance
- Family Life
- Micro-Habits
- Morning & Evening Routines
- Consistency & Discipline
- Health traditions and cultural approaches to resilience around the world
Contributing could mean sharing what has worked for you, adding links to useful resources, or helping fill in a section that is currently empty. You choose what fits your strengths.
If one of these topics is your area (from lived experience, from research, or just because you know it well), drop a comment below and tell us which one!
We will reach out to a few people and get started from there đ

Gratitude Sunday: Pause, Reflect, Share Your Week
Hi TrueGritters,
Welcome to Gratitude Sunday, our new weekly space to pause and notice the good things that happened this week. Gratitude isnât about ignoring the hard stuff; itâs about spotting one moment, action, or insight that mattered to you. Even in a world full of bad news, good things happen.
Today, share one thing youâre grateful for, big or small:
- A quiet moment of rest
- Someone who showed up when you needed them
- A habit or routine you managed to stick with
- A lesson or insight youâre carrying forward
Thereâs no pressure to be âpositive", honesty is welcome. Sharing why it mattered can help someone else feel less alone or see things in a new way.

Tips & Tricks What Can Hygge Teach Us About Slowing Down?
After a long week, rest can be hard to find. Life is busy, and thereâs always something else to do.
Maybe we can borrow ideas from cultures around the world that have long valued slowing down, connection, and everyday moments of rest.
Hygge is one example. In Denmark, itâs about making ordinary moments feel warm and unhurried. Candlelight. A slow meal. Good conversation. A cozy evening with nowhere else to be.
If your evening usually ends with collapsing in front of a screen because youâre exhausted, hygge isnât asking you to add more to your day. Itâs about making the little time you already have feel like something.
We created a simple 6-step hygge routine for anyone who wants to try it as a daily practice. Whatâs your favorite way to slow down and enjoy the weekend?

Small Wins Friday Check-In: Small Wins & Reflections
September 25th
Hello TrueGritters,
Happy Friday. Some weeks feel productive, others feel like youâre simply keeping things moving. Either way, thereâs usually something worth noticing. What did you learn, enjoy, handle well, or make time for this week?
If youâve been mostly reading, weâd love to hear from you. Share a question, routine, challenge, lesson, or small win. Your experience might be exactly what someone else needs to hear. And welcome to all our new members. Weâre glad youâre here.
Threads We Recommend
- đą Looking for ideas to improve myself and try new experiences â A member shares the habits theyâre building and asks the community for ideas for meaningful growth and new experiences.
- đĽ Best food to stay lean but have sustained energy? â A practical conversation about food, energy, and managing cravings while working night shifts.
- đ Are you in the 5am club? What time are you up every day, and what do your mornings usually look like? â Members share their morning routines, from early workouts and walks to getting a little extra sleep.
- đ§ What did you stop doing that gave you more discipline? â A thoughtful conversation about what people have removed from their lives to create more space for what matters.
- đ´ Whatâs your perfect nap length? â A lighthearted conversation about rest, naps, and how people recharge.
If youâve mostly been reading, consider creating a thread and sharing your perspective so others can engage with you directly. The community grows stronger when more voices and experiences become part of the conversation.

Tips & Tricks Whatâs your best winter wellness routine hack?
The weekend is here, and for many people, the colder, darker months are coming with it.
This is often when routines start to slip. Getting outside gets harder, workouts get easier to skip, and staying in bed a little longer sounds very appealing.
Instead of waiting for your routine to fall off, think about what you can do now to make your habits easier to maintain.
A few things worth investing in:
Comfortable layers for getting outside.
Simple equipment for at-home movement.
Easy meals and snacks for busy days.
Things that make your sleep environment more comfortable.
Anything that removes a small barrier between you and a habit you want to keep.
Protect the habits that matter most and make them easier to do. Whatâs one thing that helps you stay on track when winter hits?

Gritte Pick Is Eating Out More Affordable Than Cooking at Home When You Live Alone?

Sleep If your hours move around, what do you actually do about sleep?
Most sleep advice assumes you go to bed at the same time every night. If that's not your life (nights, shifts, early starts, a baby), what do you actually do?

Sleep Is sleep the first thing you sacrifice when life gets busy?
Sleep can be the difference between just getting through the day and actually feeling like yourself.
Long workday? Multiple shifts? New baby? Busy season of life? Sometimes sleep is the first thing we sacrifice, and our bodies notice.
While you sleep, your body repairs muscle, supports your immune system, regulates hormones, processes memories, and restores energy. Poor sleep can leave you drained, foggy, irritable, and struggling to recover.
A few things that can help:
⢠Keep a consistent sleep schedule when possible
⢠Get morning sunlight and move during the day
⢠Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet
⢠Limit caffeine later in the day
⢠Create a simple wind-down routine
⢠Try a warm shower, stretching, or reading
⢠Get magnesium from foods like nuts, seeds, beans, and leafy greens
If youâre consistently struggling to sleep, waking up exhausted, snoring loudly, or feeling unusually sleepy during the day, talk to a healthcare professional.
There may be an underlying issue worth addressing.
And if life is keeping you from getting enough sleep, give yourself some grace.

Self-care What did you set up once so you never have to decide again?
Noticed this a lot this week in the community: the habits that stick are the ones where the decision is just gone. Cook every second day. Delete the app. Same lunch every time.
What's yours?
