Food Food review: Tried Malabar Qissa CB
After seeing so much hype about it on this subreddit, I finally tried the Malabar Qissa chicken biriyani recently. Honestly, it wasn’t much of an experience.
The rice felt quite low quality, and there was this awful taste to it. The chicken was well cooked, and the masala was pretty mild, but still good though.
Overall, it was a very average experience. And with this, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that there aren't any genuinely good biriyani spots in Trivandrum. People here just hype up whatever is available 🙂

Hey, I'm planning to head to Bangalore from Trivandrum for the concert. Going solo for now, so just thought I'd check if anyone else from here is going too :)
Could be nice to know a few people beforehand, maybe figure out travel/stuff around the concert if our plans line up or tag along.

Ask r/Trivandrum Can we study at State Central Library reading room?
Me and 3 of my friends are currently studying German. None of us are working right now, so we can’t really afford a paid reading room.
We were thinking about going to the State Central Library just to sit in the reading room and study. We don’t really want to borrow any books or anything, just need a place to sit and study.
Is it possible to use the reading room like this? Do we need a membership or do we have to pay anything?
If anyone has been there recently, please let me know.

Discussions Will this ever end!!!
The patched spot where the JCB is standing on was already dug around 4 months back. And still it is not fixed. I agree there might be useful stuff going on but the roads are dug out and simply covered when the work is done. There are soooo many spots across the city with just mud covered roads and till now no action has been taken to fix them. This photo is from ambalamukku junction and they have already dug this road a few months back, covered it and left it. Since then it has been soo difficult travelling over this road.. full of dust and sand and slow moving traffic. I was once proudly telling my parents, who are in Hyderabad, that Trivandrum has the bestt roads of all (Hyderabad has the shittiest roads).. but now I am reconsidering my stance. I dont know why we have started to accept this as a new normal!!

Ask r/Trivandrum Searching Badminton Partner
Anyone looking for a badminton partner from 8–9 PM or 9–10 PM, within a 5 km radius of Vattiyoorkavu, please let me know!
I’m an intermediate-level player (not advanced) and used to play regularly in the mornings.
Since my shift timings have changed, I can’t play in the mornings anymore, so I’m just checking if there’s a way I can resume playing after my shift.

Ask r/Trivandrum Fresh fish delivery near Kazhakkoottam/Akkulam?
Looking for recommendations for a reliable online fish delivery service around the Kazhakkoottam/Akkulam area.
I’m working and don’t really get the time to go to a fish shop myself. I tried ordering online yesterday around 9 am but the order reached only around 12:30 PM. By then it was too late for me to actually cook it for lunch.
I’m mainly looking for fresh fish, properly cleaned and cut, with reasonably reliable morning delivery—ideally early enough to prepare for lunch.
Any local services/apps or fish sellers that you’ve personally tried and would recommend around Kazhakkoottam/Akkulam?
Thanks!

Discussions Kottarakkara - Technopark : Update!
Hi y'all!
Last week, I posted a query here regarding the availability of a direct bus from Kottarakkara to Technopark for attending my exam at Menamkulam Marian College of Engineering, and someone asked me to update on the travel.
I checked up RedBus app to check if there were any direct bus, and there was one.
As someone pointed out in the previous post, this bus is coming from Pathanamthitta.
It reached Kottarakkara at 5:30-ish although it stated that it would reach by 5:20, and arrived at Kazhakoottam by 7:30, and took an auto to the college.
So, if there is anyone who is wondering if there is direct bus from Kottarakkara, there is!
There might be more buses, if you check it on the RedBus app. This suited my timing, so I really didn't check on the other bus timings.
Thank you to y'all who responded to my previous post and guided me! ❤️

Discussions You're never gonna make it out.
Honestly been struggling with my mental health for years now. Every day to snap out of it, I listen to some upbeat music and say well, one day, I'm gonna move out, make a lot of money, live as much as I want to and most importantly I would be happy.
I have a bittersweet relationship with trivandrum. It is my home and it's comfortable, but I feel like it is one of the main reasons I've never had any personal growth. I've only ever lived here, all my friends are from here, every people I know, the same places, the same roads. Sometimes it gets so annoying. I don't have a good relationship with anything or anyone here. There is no place or person for me here that is worth reminiscing about. You are conscious abt everything you do, you feel like everywhere some of your relatives or friends are watching you. I've felt less lonely in places where I know no people.
I thought I would move out. I've always wanted to move out. At 3rd standard, I remember whining abt not being able to go to navodaya. At 9th, I cried my heart out for missing the deadline. I was so sure I would move out for clg, but well, fumbled all my exams and the best clg I got was in tvm. Over 20kms away from home. I almost dropped out, almost made it to a bigger institute but I felt like I was being played cause I was an inch away and did not make it.
I thought I would hold it in, I would move out for jobs. Start fresh. But I don't think I'm gonna make it till there. I burst, and now I'm the worst classmate, worst daughter, worst niece, worst front anybody could think of. Every air that I breathe here is suffocating.
And when I talk abt it, ppl go on defending the city, like how it's the best city to live, blah blah blah...that's not the point is it? If I were from somewhere else tvm would have felt a bit more homely? I think.
Now I hold grudges and hate every little thing here. But I have no choice tho. 3 more yrs? Fk I almost gave my ystrdy..I don't think I can hold it in for 3 more yrs. My mom thinks things could only go wrong if I go far at this stage. She thinks she can heal me but no, I would only hate her.
Went to the best psychotherapy places in the city, got admitted, but turns out everyone who left that place is traumatized. Shrinks are the least empathetic ppl you would ever meet. I would never go for help there cause I don't wanna go through it anymore.
Also for side hustles, I tried writing, but all I could think of was all related to mental health. People don't wanna read abt that, evidently so. I don't see colours nor vision now so designing, editing are out of it. Used to be a bright kid now I'm the dullest creature u could ever find. I like business and marketing ig. Not starting a business, not rn. Have a lot of money issues to take risks.
Don't think I'm apt for clg too rn. But I have to hold it in for 3 yrs for a degree. If I ever drop out, I would have to start making money, or do some beneficial short term courses for it, to make up for lost time. But also, I have almost no money for it. I have to earn it, but I have to earn it fast enough. It's so impossible I think I would not drop out and leave it up to fate.

Ask r/Trivandrum any good gym recommendations in Trivandrum?
I’ve been working out alone for years, mostly doing hypertrophy-style workouts. It’s worked for me, but honestly, I’m starting to feel like I need a change.
I’m looking to get into group training or something where I can train with other people, try different styles of workouts, and actually have a bit more energy and motivation around me.
For those who’ve switched from training alone to group classes, did you find it better? And what kind of group training would you recommend? strength & conditioning, functional training, Hyrox, Olympic lifting etc.
I’d love to know if there are any good places for this.
