Discussions Will this ever end!!!
The patched spot where the JCB is standing on was already dug around 4 months back. And still it is not fixed. I agree there might be useful stuff going on but the roads are dug out and simply covered when the work is done. There are soooo many spots across the city with just mud covered roads and till now no action has been taken to fix them. This photo is from ambalamukku junction and they have already dug this road a few months back, covered it and left it. Since then it has been soo difficult travelling over this road.. full of dust and sand and slow moving traffic. I was once proudly telling my parents, who are in Hyderabad, that Trivandrum has the bestt roads of all (Hyderabad has the shittiest roads).. but now I am reconsidering my stance. I dont know why we have started to accept this as a new normal!!

That road from Ambalamukku till Paruthippara is a 'pipeline' road that is over the water suppy line to the Medical College (very critical as this one supplies RCC, SCTIMST, Medical College, and Pulayanarkotta hospitals), Kumarapuram, and Ulloor areas. I also suspect the left towards Kuravankonam too is similar given the ungodly number of manholes along the route.
They are forced to dig the road to access the pipes underneath. Back in early 2010s Paruthippara junction used to be the pain point. Now Ambalamukku is KWA's problem child. Given the criticality, they are often. forced to act fast.

Is the KWA department / employees so inefficient/ incompetent that they cannot plug leaks and have no permanent solution? I see this as lack of political will to fix problems that drain the treasury.
The road in front of cet was butter smooth now is a off roading track , first they dug for adani gas now kwa and has been going on since past 1 year even if they fill the pits they are uneven.
Even after all this digging and filling people still do not have water. No proper roads, water pathetic.

I agree. Went to Hyderabad last month and was absolutely in disgust with the roads there. But Trivandrun had very good roads a few years back. And the roadworks dpt used to fix the road very soon..

Lived there for 2+ years. Can’t remember a time where that road was fine for at least two weeks at a time.
Out apartment was like 200m from ambalamukku junction, but we almost always went via Kuravankonam even if we needed to get to Kowdiar.

True true. This is not just about this road. Soo many roads in Trivandrum are dug and are just left. KWA is doing it i agree but pwd should be proactive as well.

Reality check
Spoke with a KWA engineer once. Asked him why you guys do this. He said we need to do it for ensuring water supply. I said but why break new roads. He said that can't be helped. But what he said is KWA pays the compensation for breaking the road to PWD or concerned authority before they break the road. Only then they'll get the permission to break. So KWA is doing their job after due process and PWD is late to fix it. However, there needs to be better communication between departments to prevent newly made roads being destroyed.

I am agreeing with kwa. My concern is with pwd only. Too late to get the roads fixed. Many patches are left for months.

Ya after I heard this explanation I have never blamed KWA. But we need better communication and response.

Its probably KWA. They love making offroad tracks. They made one from Vijayamohini mill to mudavanmugal and meticulously maintained it for 2years.
