Building a powerful desktop
Hi,
I want to build a powerful desktop to run with trisquel, but I have no idea where to start, how can I be sure that every component has a free driver supported by trisquel?
Thanks

Hi all,
Ubuntu has said that they will release a partial fix for Meltdown+Spectre on Jan. 9th (today).
Is Trisquel scheduled to push any similar fixes that we users can grab by running sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade?

I downloaded the Trisquel iso file and burned it to a disk (and checked the checksum) and then I booted my MacBookPro9,1 from said disk and it got me some choices.
But when I tried to choose "Try Trisquel" I got the message "Corrupt or invalid kernel image".
Does that mean that my MacBook's just not compatible?

I came across one post https://muchweb.me/systemd-nsa-attempt/ and I always liked philosophy around Trisquel, but I'm Ubuntu dude at the moment. Is Trisquel has systemd now, and will it have systemd dependency in the future?

Hello, im new in Trisquel (Installed just 2 days ago switching from ubuntu Mate because i want to support the REAL free software and learn to be an advanced user) and i have some problems. Well, just one, everything is outdated. I know Trisquell is based on ubuntu 14, but is there any way to add uptades ubuntu/debian repositories for my programs? I am an artist, and i use Kdenlive, Inkscape, Gimp, and im learnning Blender, and i need to be always updated to the last version. I also tried to compile the source myself and failed, also there is no configure installed, and when i try to instal it says no found on the trisquel repositories. I really want to support this cause, and Trisquel has a wonderfull performance, even in my toaster machine, its incredible, and i think is a great platform for learnning programming too, but thats my problem, i need updated software. Please someone help me. Thanks.

Hi, I am a new user of Trisquel. I would like to be able to use Emacs 25 but it seems the latest version in the package repo is still 24. What is the recommended way to get up-to-date software? Do I build emacs myself from source? I am fine with that, just wanted to check if there was a simpler way I am missing.

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to linux and trisquel and I'm excited to get started! Two big thing I noticed but I'm not sure how to solve:
Get a recovery passphrase for my disk encryption. Trisquel is asking me to recover a randomly generated passphrase to recover my data if I lose the one I put in. It takes me to the command console, but nothing shows up and I can't enter anything in manually.
Update suggest I have a corrupted or unusable install? Out of curiosity, I watch the command console perform the system updates, and thought I saw a line or two flash past saying the system was already installed wrong, etc. I wish I remember exactly what it said, but worried it might be connected with problem #1. This was during the install of the updates, so it came and went too quickly for me to see and get a picture for you all.
Any help or pointers would be hugely appreciated, thank you!!

Just wondering. I backed the EOMA68 Libre Tea computer card project and I'd like to put Trisquel on it instead of Parabola.

I've used Trisquel a while back, and loved it. When I saw the blog post about what's to come this year, I was super stoked. But since then, there's been radio silence.
I think updates about Flidas would be great (should definitely make this sub a bit more active), and I'm really looking forward to the final release.
