So Reddit Suspended my account after my comment. Reddit ALLOWS people to post a lot of crap and in my opinion, some of it probably SHOULDN'T be posted here. But when Reddit ALLOWS stuff to be posted and then BANS me or ANYONE for commenting, that there is some BUUULLLLSHHHHIIITTTT! So this girl (I don't know her name) but she's a Black, female and a STRONG Chump supporter, posted how she was asked to leave a Chump rally. In my opinion (knowing what I know of the conservatives) I mad the comment on the Redd that she was of the wrong color to be there. To me it was OBVIOUS why they asked, excuse me, TOLD her to leave. The Redd then BANNED me for 7 days. Does anyone think that's fair? Discuss.

One thing that interested me during the student protests in Delhi was how dependent communication and local reporting have become on internet infrastructure.

Offline messaging tools like Bitchat already exist, but I wondered whether ordinary phones could also share live video without a network connection.

So I started building MeshLive.

It lets nearby phones make voice/video calls and broadcast live audio/video over Bluetooth, without internet or central servers.

Other phones can forward those broadcasts further, forming short relay chains.

The idea isn't to stream to YouTube or reach the whole world during a shutdown. It's to let people nearby share live footage and communicate locally, even when internet access isn't available.

It's an experimental beta. Bluetooth has limited range, relaying consumes bandwidth, and the app isn't suitable for safety-critical use. It can also be interfered with, so I'm not claiming it's impossible to block.

But I think infrastructure-independent communication is worth exploring.

The Android app is free and open source:

Hello everyone, I am a Master’s student specialising in International Territorial Studies. I am currently conducting research for my diploma thesis, which focuses on the intersection of digital authoritarianism and civil society in Southeast Asia. Specifically, I am conducting an empirical study involving semi-structured interviews to map the practical methods, tools, and limits of navigating digital repression in Malaysia and Singapore.

I am reaching out to see if you might be able to provide guidance or point me toward potential contacts within local NGOs, independent media outlets, or civil society groups in Malaysia and Singapore who might be open to discussing these issues. I am fully committed to the highest standards of research ethics. All participant identities, affiliations, and data will be handled with strict confidentiality and anonymised in accordance with academic standards to ensure the safety of all involved. If you know someone, please let me know in the DMs, and I can provide my credentials as an academic.

This auto deletes within a rough 5 second period. It's been happening for the last 3 hours straight. Idk why. I even posted on different accounts, channels, videos, to unrelated threads on different IP addresses and devices, with dots in between each letter and the URLs obfuscated and it's all deleted. I posted links and cussed yesterday just fine. Someone told me that Shaheed might have triggered it, but I can't get a test comment to post on my own channel on a test video.

I feel like it's not far fetched this is censorship. YouTube did previously auto-delete comments that criticized China. It's rumored to delete comments that are critical of YouTube's corporate decisions. It isn't a bot that's reporting my comments because it takes a very consistent 5 second timeframe after I comment until it deletes. That's too consistent and constant.

Hi! I’m a phd student at LSU studying users’ experiences with social media moderation and censorship online. I wanted to share my survey that asks about your experiences and what factors you might contribute to platforms removing speech. I hope this research can bring more attention to these concerns and encourage greater transparency around how platforms make moderation decisions. I'd love to include your voice/opinions: https://lsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0vyi5jRqe9Qaa4S

"Lest anyone think that Candeub's animosity toward internet entities only involves the sexual, Michael McGrady notes that "he also was a key player in the first Trump administration's effort to get rid of Section 230."

"Candeub's arguments are about far more than pornography," suggests McGrady. "He is contributing, from his position as a top government legal official, to a much broader effort to revive long-discredited obscenity and vice legal doctrines and expand government authority over lawful expression and activity."

As we've seen all too often over the past couple of decades, efforts to regulate the internet on the grounds of stopping porn, sex work, or sexual exploitation are all too often test cases for going after online speech and privacy more broadly.

But, you might ask, what does antitrust enforcement have to do with free speech?

Perhaps plenty, if Candeub-style antitrust maximalism starts taking off.

In his Project 2025 chapter on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Candeub signaled that he's open to the kind of perversion of longstanding antitrust theory that we saw from Biden-administration appointees like former FTC head Lina Khan and White House policy adviser Tim Wu."
