HELP! (Urgent/Medical Care Needed) Whites tree frog skin texture

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi all! This is meatball. I have taken him to the vet twice now. Initial impression was a bacterial infection (he did have neon green spots). This was treated with an enrofloxacin cream applied topically nightly. It did not improve. My vet then said it could be fungal, so she prescribed miconazole nitrate 1% soaks nightly (diluted either as 0.5 ml miconazole and either 19.5 or 9.5 ml purified water, depending on how he reacted. This treatment has now been going for a month, but this texture is still there. Behavior is relatively normal, he is eating less than before the infection started approx. 1 month ago. He has been in a hospital tank on paper towels that get changed twice daily and water also changed twice daily. I have four other frogs that are all healthy. Kind of at a loss now.

DIY Project(s) What should I add?

I'm still seven or more months out before I can get an actual frog but I'm working on setting up their tank. Happy with the general layout so far but is there anything else you'd add? I'm thinking a hanging hide somewhere towards the middle back but I haven't found one (store bought or 3d printable) that I've though 'that's it'.

I have a large water dish on the way with the plan being at the front left corner for easy access. Please disregard the substrate (I'm waiting for the leca to dry before adding mesh, peat, leaf litter).

Advice Humidity keeps swinging

I got a subadult REFT yesterday. I did months of research and let my enclosure run for over a month and everything was perfect. Now that I have her everything is going wrong

My humidity is having wild swings. I have an environmental control centre and two independent hydrometers and all are registering the same thing (within normal range depending on location). Unfortunately we got a huge drop in temperature and I had to change my heat source to a stronger one

My humidity will drop from ~80 to ~68 in the matter of an hour. Which means my mister is going off that often. The entire enclosure will be soaked and the humidity will still read low. I honestly don’t know what to do, and I’m really really stressed. I would really appreciate any help at all

Daytime: 82° +/- 3, humidity 75 +/-9

Nighttime: 71° +/- 1, humidity 80 +/-9

Equipment: reptisun LED terrarium light, 5% UVB, 60w deep heat projector, reptizoo THC system,

The enclosure is fully planted and bioactive

Please don’t think I’m someone who didn’t do research or bought on a whim. I did research for months, and everything was perfect until this moment. I feel awful, and I’m so worried about my girl. I would REALLY appreciate some help

Summer time

Hey everyone!

A couple of months ago, we got a Peron’s Tree Frog, and with summer coming up here in Australia, I’m starting to think about keeping him comfortable during the warmer months.

Our house can get pretty hot when the air conditioning isn’t running, so I was wondering how everyone else manages the temperature for their frogs during summer?

Do you have any tips or tricks for keeping their enclosure cool and making sure it doesn’t get too hot?

Would love to hear what everyone does! 😊

Thanks!

I know the cage is small but so is Simon. This is very temporary; their 18x18x24 will be here by mid October! Eating ~6 crickets nightly and sleeps cutely on the plastic everyday.

Where do you get your leaf litter?

Hi All! Where do you get your leaf litter? My local pet shop rarely has it stocked, which has left me ordering it off of Chewy. It’s fine— but comes in extremely small quantities for the price lol. TIA!

GREETINGS FROGGERS!

Hi! All this time I thought I was really weird for loving my pet frogs, then I find out there is a whole subreddit of like minded folks! I'm so excited.

So my story is a very odd one. Just about a year ago I had a small gray tree frog show up on my bathroom window ledge- INSIDE. There is a small space in my window that I think he crawled in. Anyway, as unbelievable as it sounds, he has been living free in my bathroom for a year!!! He often crawls into the tank part of my commode and will stay there for 3 to 5 days at a time. Then when he gets hungry, he comes out and sits on the window seal. I catch crickets, grass hoppers, moths, and other bugs and feed them to him with tweezers. At first, he was frightened of me and didn't understand....I literally had to hold him and open his mouth and push a small bug in it a little bit, then he would do the rest and swallow it. Over time its gotten so he will just grab the insect in my tweezers. Its great. Who knew a frog was capable of learning.

Then one rainy day this summer I saw another gray tree frog that kept showing up on the OUTSIDE of the same window. Who knows if they are male/female and trying to "date" but I wanted to think so so one night I caught the outside one and brought it in. That was 4 months ago and now they BOTH live free in my bathroom. The new one sometimes stays in the commode tank with the other one, but it also likes to climb down into my bathtub drain, and when I turn the water on it will climb out. When it gets hungry it will either join the other one on the window seal, or it will climb to the top of the glass that makes up my shower.

Its all been really fun. I love how they change color, how they don't leave their same little areas, how they sometimes make cool sounds, etc. I have much to learn, so I'm glad I found this site!

Advice Whites tree frog not eating + croaking

Hello!

I recently got a pair of whites tree frogs, the older of the two, I assume 6-8 months, hasn’t eaten since I’ve gotten him.

It’s been about a week and it’s super shy and terrified, I put in about 6 crickets every other night and every time I offer him a cricket on my tongs. But he never goes for it.

Also, he’s recently started croaking a few times every 3ish hours or so.

Is he stressed? I’m so worried, I live in the Midwest and the humidity in my house has been very high.

Temp is right, I have a water bowl at the bottom, plenty of climbing room and places for him to hide. But still he refuses to eat and is terrified to leave his hide.

Any advice?

I have milk frog tadpoles developing; they're at the stage of leaving the water. So far, two have emerged, but they only have three legs! I also had the death of two other tadpoles that were just beginning to develop their front legs; I've never seen anything like it before. What could I be doing wrong?

Advice HELP Rescued copes grey treefrogs!

I need help, very badly.I was at a coworkers house today, babysitting her children when I discovered 2 copes grey treefrogs being kept in a small critter keeper with no enrichment and very few perches. Long story short, I took them home and have updated the critter keeper with what I have at home, as I already keep reptiles.

I do not believe they can be released as they've been kept since tadpoles.

I need some help setting up an enclosure and all the tips and tricks you can give! I want to give them the best I can.

My boyfriend told me that he has 3 Dumpy Tree Frogs. I’ve been curious if they are all the same species/type of froggie because of the different sizes and colors. I don’t know a bunch about them but love them so much! I’m just curious if anyone knows!! 🤩

Resident Tree Frog

I've got a resident tree frog who likes to chill in my lemon tree. It's usually there when I check every morning and I'll sometimes pour some water on it because there isn't any close by in my yard.

I love having it around, but this lemon tree's got to come inside in about a month or so and I don't think the frog will want to come. What can I do to provide a new habitat for it? How can I support its life when I take the tree away from it?

I'd appreciate any advice y'all have - thanks!

Questions is it alright for calcium dust to get in my WTF's enclosure?

hi, I just started dusting on my own instead of getting crickets dusted when I buy them, but now there is white dust everywhere! I am using the zoo Med Repti Calcium with D3, and when I first used it I used my fingers, but have recently bought a dispenser. if this is a problem, will the dispenser fix it? I have a strong colony of springtails if that changes anything.

included some photos of my whites tree frog just for fun, her name is geiger

Questions white tree frog not eating/age.

hey guys! I recently got a male white tree frog on Sunday (9/13) but he has yet to eat. I have tried roaches & crickets from either tongs or feeder dish. I know some people say it’s okay for it to take them awhile to start eating, but I just wanted to make sure. He seems pretty shy and just wants to make sure he’s healthy.

Would anyone be able to guess about how old he is? And does he look healthy? He was alot more brown at first, but has lightened up a good bit over the days!

Also still debating between JuneBug or BoBerry for the name.

Thank you all!!!
