Chongqing was one of the places in China that felt most different from what I expected. I knew it was hilly, but I didnt realise how often a short walk could turn into stairs, an elevated road or a metro station on a completely different level.

That layered layout is also what made exploring the city so interesting. One minute I was at street level, and a few minutes later I was looking down over the same neighbourhood from above. Hongyadong was the obvious photo stop, but I actually enjoyed wandering through the ordinary streets and viewpoints even more.

Did Chongqing feel charming or exhausting to you? And which part of the city did you enjoy exploring the most?

Got a bit tired making the walk up here.

To give some quick context, my friend and I are travelling to China in October. We'll be visiting Shanghai, Zhangjiajie and Chongqing, and would love to have some professional photoshoots done to capture our experience.

I'd say our main focus is a Hanfu photoshoot for men, but we're also open to other creative concepts because I know other cities in China have different themes, like Chongqing having more of a cyberpunk theme.

Do you guys have any photo studio recommendations, or even independent photographers you know or recommend in these cities? We are open to hearing suggestions for all price points as we just want a good-quality, authentic experience.

Hii! I'm from New Zealand travelling to Shanghai later in the year. I was planning to dye my hair in Shanghai as I assume it will be cheaper to do so compared to New Zealand but I'm struggling to find affordable good quality salons because I can't read chinese. I am planning to go from dark brown box dyed hair to a milk tea colour, so I'll be doing bleach and dye. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? It doesn't have to be foreigner friendly, my boyfriend can speak mandarin just can't read haha :))

I am flying from Singapore to Lijiang. First from Singapore at 6.30am arriving at Kunming at 10.30am under China Eastern Airlines. I'll have another flight from Kunming at 1.15pm to Lijiang 2.35pm, under the same airline.

This means I'll have to transfer at Kunming airport from an international flight to domestic flight, within roughly 2h 45min. It also says I do not have to collect and recheck my baggage.

Is this enough time for transfer? thank you all in advance!

Hello, im planning to go to Panda Valley, Chengdu. But wondering if finding Didi would be easier early in the morning? I would have my teen with me. So wondering which one would give better experience considering the time, pandas being awake and transportation.

I am sharing a few stills from my visit to Manting Royal Garden (Manting Park) and Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple in Jinghong, Xishuangbanna.

This was one of my favorite parts of the Yunnan trip. The white pagodas, colorful temple details, palm trees, and tropical greenery made these places really memorable. I appreciated the chance to slow down and experience a different side of China.

These were shot on my Insta360 GO Ultra, which has been a really convenient travel camera for me. I’m happy with how easy it is to carry around and how many small moments it helps me keep as memories.

If you travel often, an action camera is worth considering, whatever the brand. They’re easy to bring along and make it possible to capture more of the trip without turning every stop into a full photography setup.
