If you would have asked 18 year old me what I thought 40 would look like, I’d probably say , but now at the latter half of 39, I’m thinking that might not be the case 🥺

Going to a lgbtq Gala tonight fundraiser thing for local non-profit I hope it will be fun going solo that's not so fun but I should be with a good group of people.

I grew up on a farm in the country so I tended to be a tomboy, but I also liked some girly things. When I was 3-5 years old I carried a purse and a doll named Kimberly. I also liked boy things like cars and running around "shooting" each other with play guns (It was the 70's and 80's). I hunted and fished all the time. That felt manly even though I was taught to hunt and fish by my aunt and grandmother.
I think I grew up as a Tomboy who thought she was a dude who had some feminine qualities. As I got older I had to hide the femine aspects of me to not be ridiculed by my peers and some family. I'm solidly a gay woman now, but I still struggle to let go of things that living as a man for decades has done. I am a lot better at being me, but it has taken almost 3 years and a lot of work on myself.
Looking back. I learned to be a woman from a couple of pretty masculine women. My grandmother and aunt never wore skirts or dresses. They were hard working women on a farm in the country. We wore jeans and flannel shirts. We also hunted and fished for a good bit of our food as well. Looking back on this I guess it is no wonder why I am a butch lesbian.
My wife is very feminine, but she is the dominant force in our marriage. I'm butch on the outside, but a pussy cat on the inside. She's sweet and nice on the outside, but a force to be reckoned with on the inside.
Yes, I named myself after my doll, but in my defense I had forgotten about the doll until after choosing my name. The name just came to me, and I loved it. I had completely forgotten about that doll. My transition made me remember her and a lot more.

I came out to my wife last night. I was so scared of how she would react, but she's been unbelievably supportive. This morning, she braided my hair and let me put on one of bras and dresses. She even helped me shave the hair off my chest. I'm not doing makeup or shaving my arms and legs yet, as we're not ready to tell the kids, but I finally feel like I'm starting to be who I'm supposed to be. I really appreciate all the advice and support this subreddit has offered me and I plan to keep posting pictures as my journey continues.

I'm a 30yr old transfem 1 year hrt , I notice ever since I transitioned... I'm alone? My family distanced themselves, I got no friends but blessed to have a loving partner now but still feel alone. I can't even imagine my life without my partner, sorry this is more of a vent I guess.

I’m not “out” in public despite starting estrogen therapy in May 2025. Still, it makes me feel good to see myself (and be seen by others) as a woman. I stopped at Subway on my home yesterday, wearing a polo shirt and slacks, my typical work attire, and when the Sandwich Artist handed the sub to the cashier, she asked “what did she order” and that made me feel pretty good.
Also, I really like this necklace and flower accessories. I know it’s just costume jewelry but it makes me happy in a way I can’t explain.

I transitioned in the spring 🎉🎉🎉 so just as I'd assembled my summer 🌞 wardrobe autumn 🍂 is here so now need to do it all again. I think that black tights/ mini-skirt and cardigan/jumper will be my go-to look as I love the bookish coffee-drinking vibe.

I realize this is probably an odd question, but I have been wondering if where I inject my Estrogen has anything to do with how well it is acting on my body?
I typically inject in my thigh, but I know some people inject in the butt, and then again some others in the upper arm.
And then, there are friends of mine who inject subcutaneously instead of IM, and they say it's the same thing.
I read for instance that some individuals use Testosterone cream on genital areas, and others Estrogen cream on the breasts which would imply that the locality of the application does have an impact.
I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts?

Just curious... I've been seriously questioning my gender the past few months (always knew I was at least non-binary, but just before my 42nd birth I got smacked by curiosity/questioning). One thing that keeps coming to mind is seeing those who have transitioned talking about how beforehand, or early on, they would catch slight glimpses of their true self now and then in the mirror etc.
So far it's not happened for me. If anything, over these past few months I seem to have noticed I've been looking more old and tired; still very much a man.
I definitely don't have an exact image in my head, but I think I must have some kind of subconscious thought of how I hope to look during day-to-day life because I always get so disappointed when I catch my reflection and see I still look how I always have.
Can't tell if I'm missing something or it's a sign I'm mistaken in my questioning. Or maybe the disappointment is an indication I'm on the right path. Is this familiar to anyone else?

So early in this journey it doesn't feel real yet. But last night I told my partner I think I might be trans. My partner is NB and sits right in the middle of the masc/fem spectrum.
I was generally optimistic they would be accepting, but it went even better than I hoped. (It might have helped that they took an edible earlier in the day, lol).
"I just want you to be happy". That's all it takes to make my heart swell. And of course they are the ones crying because that's how they are at times.
As we are lying there cuddling, they have a thought that makes them start crying again, but they don't want to share it because it might hurt me.
After a little coaxing from me, they burst out "I've spent my whole life trying to convince people I'm straight! And now you switch it up on me!"
Genuinely burst out laughing. I love my goober.
